Kurram district: tribal elders sign one-year peace treaty
According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) district Kurram Ashfaq Ahmed, the tribes of Lower Kurram Topki, Sameer, Gosar, Amal Kot, Gharbina, Sangina, Gundizar, Mengak, Tangay, Munda, Marukhel and adjoining areas, as well as Sadda, Kochi, Sateen, Shisho, Durrani, Pir Qayyum, Sakhi Ahmed Shah, Mulla Jan Kalley, Chakki Kalley, Aravalli, Lower Mandori and adjoining areas have declared a peace treaty for a period of one year. The parties will remain in peace for one year.
In this connection, an extraordinary jirga was held at Frontier Corps (FC) Fort Sadda under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram.
During the jirga the prominent chiefs of Turi Bangash tribes, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kurram, officers of police, security forces and concerned Assistant Commissioners participated in the jirga.
The tribal chiefs declared a one-year truce and reiterated that they would fully implement the Murree Agreement and the Kohat Peace Accords.
On this occasion, the tribal chiefs described the peace agreement a milestone for maintenance of peace in the region and pledged that they would jointly work for peace, development and prosperity in Kurram district as usual.
The tribal chiefs also paid tribute to the role of security forces, district administration and police for peace in the area.
Speaking on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram Ashfaq Ahmed said that the establishment of peace in the beautiful valleys of district Kurram was made possible only with the cooperation of regional leaders and the immense sacrifices of the security forces for peace in the area, which is highly commendable.
The tribal elites and elders termed the peace agreement good omen for the establishment of peace in Kurram district.
Similarly, tribal leader Haji Abdul Manan said that the peace agreement will help in the establishment of peace soon while Jalal Bangash and Younis Ali said that after this agreement, the path has been paved for the establishment of peace and the problems of the people will mitigate.
Other tribal elders including Amjad Bangash and Syed Tajammul Hussain also termed the agreement a good omen for the region and urged the government to further accelerate peace efforts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kurram, Aamir Nawaz said that the time has come for the tribes to play their full role in establishing peace, which will reduce public hardships and restore normal life in the district soon.

Fight against terrorism: Minister urges KP, Balochistan to fulfill their responsibilities
ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Monday issued a stern warning to the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, urging them to fulfill their responsibilities in the fight against terrorism, and cautioning that continued 'irresponsible conduct' would no longer be tolerated. Speaking at a Youm-e-Shuhada (Martyrs' Day) ceremony held at the Islamabad Police Headquarters, Chaudhry said that while Pakistan's security forces are fully equipped to combat terrorism, a successful fight requires strong political support. 'Security forces are fulfilling their responsibilities, but I want to tell the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where terrorism is on the rise, to fulfil their political responsibility,' he said, adding that this cannot happen that on the one hand, our security forces and ordinary citizens are offering sacrifices on a daily basis and the provincial governments do not fulfill their responsibilities. The minister warned the governments of both the provinces to fulfill their responsibilities as their 'irresponsible conduct' would not be acceptable any further. Chaudhry said that at present, terrorism is again on the rise in the country. 'Pakistan has suffered 90,000 casualties, including security personnel, citizens and people from every walk of life,' he said, adding that these 90,000 sacrifices were made for ensuring peace and security in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is fighting terrorism as the frontline state, and if Pakistan failed to combat terrorism, it would have broader implications for regional and global security. The minister further said that the Iranian president assured Pakistan that they will fight terrorism jointly, and this will help in improving the situation in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is holding talks with Afghanistan regarding terrorism; therefore, Afghanistan also needs to fulfil its responsibility as a neighbour. He said the present government has ended the disparity of salaries between different security forces. Further steps will be taken for improving the capacity of the Islamabad Police and Federal Constabulary (FC), he said. Chaudhary has assured to provide all necessary resources, including modern weapons to the police force. He paid tribute to the services and sacrifices of the police personnel. There has been a reduction of over 50 percent in heinous crimes in the federal capital territory due to the efforts of the police, he claimed. Naqvi commends FC's role in establishing peace across Balochistan
QUETTA: Inter Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday praised Frontier Corps Balochistan North for its remarkable services in establishing peace across the province. He stated this during his visit to the Headquarters of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan North in Quetta, where he was warmly received and presented with a ceremonial guard of honour by FC troops. FC Inspector General Major General Abid Mazhar introduced the interior minister to senior officers of FC North. Minister Naqvi also laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial, offered Fateha, and prayed for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs.

PM condemns terrorist attack on civilians in Tirah

He said jirgas would be held at divisional and provincial levels from next week to address public issues more effectively. Separately, the Inspector General Frontier Corps (North) visited the injured at the FC Brigade Hospital, while Major General Rao Imran Sartaj met survivors at the Frontier Corps Teaching Hospital. The injured recounted the incident and thanked the FC and army teams for the free and timely medical care.
