Princess Kate exuded heartfelt emotion upon her arrival at Wimbledon's press box before the women's singles final. The Princess of Wales, who bravely announced her remission from cancer in January, was greeted with a rapturous standing ovation from the 15,000 spectators in Centre Court on Saturday (July 12) afternoon, creating an unprecedented roar.
Lip reading expert Jeremy Freeman captured her reaction to the warm welcome.
Kate appeared to acknowledge the crowd with a simple: "Thanks. Hi." She then turned to an unseen companion and expressed her delight: "Sweet, very nice to hear!".
Before taking her seat, she exchanged handshakes with tennis great Martina Navratilova, 68, and then met the iconic Billie Jean King, 81, who offered a respectful curtsy, reports the Express.
In response to Billie Jean King's inquiry about her well-being, Kate's reply was a cheerful: "Beautiful."
Post-match, following Iga Swiatek's stunning victory over Amanda Anisimova with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-0, Kate found words of solace and praise for both players.
To the runner-up Anisimova, lip reader Jeremy suggests Kate said: "You should be so proud, well done, and enjoy yourself."
Backstage, engaging with champion Swiatek, Kate is believed to have given some sage advice: "Ensure that you have some downtime."
At the start of their exchange, she complimented Swiatek: "Wonderful, extraordinary achievement, very well done. Congratulations and enjoy it. Enjoy the celebrations back home."
Fresh from her historic triumph at Wimbledon, the first Polish woman ever to clinch the title, Światek addressed the audience: "First of all I want to congratulate Amanda for an amazing two weeks no matter what happened today. I hope we're going to play many more finals here and at other tournaments."
She continued with humility, "I didn't even dream [about winning] because it was way too far, I feel like I'm already an experienced player after winning the slams before but I never really expected this one."
As a steadfast fixture at the prestigious event, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, has been a familiar face on Centre Court in the years following her marriage to Prince William in 2011.
Having had the honour of presenting the men's singles trophy to Carlos Alcaraz the previous year, Royal spectators anticipate she may once again bestow the award this afternoon, as Alcaraz faces Jannik Sinner in what is expected to be a riveting final.

Royal caught napping at Wimbledon days after major celeb 'dozes off' on centre court

The Royal was pictured falling asleep just days after another famous face was snapped having a nap in the stands Primarily reserved for members of the British Royal Family, foreign royals, heads of state, celebrities, and former champions, all eyes are often on the Royal Box at Wimbledon and all movements are caught on camera. However, one particular Royal was spotted nodding off during the Men's singles final on Sunday, July 13. Lord Frederick Windsor attended the Men's Singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday, July 13 with wife, Sophie Winkleman. ‌ The couple were seated in some of the best spots on centre court. Lord Frederick is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and is 54th in line to the British throne. His father, Prince Michael of Kent, is a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. ‌ The couple were seen enjoying the sporting action but seemingly forgot that all actions were being captured on camera, reports the Express. Pictures from the event showed the Royal with his eyes closed, propping up his head with one arm, appearing to doze off multiple times. After a brief nap, he woke up and joined in the applause and cheering as the tennis tournament continued. Frederick, aged 46, looked dapper in a blue suit, a white shirt and a powder blue tie. Sophie, on the other hand, who is an actress, wore an elegant white dress adorned with tiny strawberries. Sophie turned heads with baroque-style pearl earrings and a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses to keep the sun at bay. Tennis enthusiast, Lord Frederick Windsor, was also spotted indulging his love for the sport, having graced the Championships on day two, day nine, and day 12. ‌ But it wasn't just royalty that snoozed amidst the thrill of this year's acclaimed tennis contest. Social media buzzed when BBC viewers caught Hugh Grant apparently dozing off during a match at Centre Court. The 64-year-old was there to soak in the Men's Singles Quarter-Final between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli. ‌ Accompanied by his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein, the film star settled into Centre Court seats. A segment broadcast showed Hugh in the Royal Box, donning shaded sunglasses with his head dipped slightly forward. BBC Sport posted the moment that went viral on X, quipping: "It's all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant," followed by emojis signalling laughter and sleep. ‌ Spectators chimed in, noticing Hugh's drowsy moment, and shared their animated thoughts online. A viewer couldn't help but comment on X: "Not even Djokovic can keep Hugh Grant awake today." A second joked: "Well done Hugh. Exactly what I would have done in the sun." ‌ A third concluded: "Merely resting his eyes". In the end, Jannik Sinner fought back to beat defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets and win Wimbledon for the first time in his career. The Italian No. 1 seed is now a four-time Grand Slam champion. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Carlos Alcaraz made his feelings very clear in response to Emma Raducanu rumours

Carlos Alcaraz has been romantically linked with British tennis star Emma Raducnau for some time but the two-time Wimbledon champion once moved to address the rumours Carlos Alcaraz will be licking his wounds after his dreams of clinching a third straight Wimbledon title were dashed on Sunday. The Spanish tennis star was beaten by his rival Jannik Sinner, who triumphed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to claim his maiden SW19 crown. Alcaraz is no doubt now experiencing a different vibe from the aftermath of last year's event. After winning the competition in 2024, he was spotted dancing the night away with women's champion Barbora Krejcikova at the annual Wimbledon Champions' Dinner, as is tradition. ‌ Yet, it wasn't their dance moves that sparked a media frenzy but rather Emma Raducanu's presence in the Centre Court stands as he dispatched Novak Djokovic for his second Wimbledon title. ‌ Alcaraz later found himself batting away whispers of a romance with the British star, who exited this year's tournament in the fourth round after a thrilling clash with Aryna Sabalenka. Despite the relentless rumour mill, Alcaraz brushed off any notion of love with a chuckle. When quizzed last summer about Raducanu attending the 2024 final, he played down its significance, saying: "I don't know, I don't know. I think a lot of people came to see the final. "I think Novak and I always put on a good game, a show on the court. I think it is a beautiful game to watch. And she is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it. If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia I would 100 percent go to the final, even if I wasn't playing." ‌ But the Spaniard couldn't resist teasing, adding: "I don't know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to ask her, but I hope she enjoyed the final." Despite Alcaraz maintaining they're merely friends, speculation continues to swirl around their blockbuster pairing ahead of the US Open. Tournament bosses have unveiled a glittering lineup for their two-day mixed doubles spectacle during 'Fan Week', with all focus now on the dream team featuring both former US Open winners. ‌ Alcaraz recently set tongues wagging when he confessed Raducanu "will be the boss" during their partnership. In a BBC chat at Wimbledon, the duo fielded questions about what they'd quiz each other on before heading to New York, reports the Express. "Ooh, good question," Raducanu said. "I would like to know how much of the court he can cover in New York." When posed the same query, Alcaraz burst into laughter before declaring: "I'm just going to serve and I'm gonna pull myself away and I let her play. She will cover a lot of the court. She will be the boss. I will do whatever she wants me to do." ‌ The tennis world was also sent into a top spin when Alcaraz let slip that he had made a "special request" to partner with Raducanu for the upcoming mixed event in August. "Yeah. I mean, the tournament told us about the tournament, the mixed tournament," Alcaraz told the media. "I was thinking that I couldn't play better if it wasn't with Emma. I just asked Emma if she wants to play doubles with me. Yeah, I made that special request." However, Raducanu didn't jump at the chance straight away, as Alcaraz, who has five Grand Slam titles under his belt, confessed she took her time before deciding to join forces. Raducanu later said: "Got to keep them on their toes! I mean, of course, I had to ask my team if they wanted me to play. But for me, when he asked me, I was going to say yes, I just had to kind of go through the formality of asking my coach, so I didn't just make the decision." During her pre-tournament press conference for this year's Wimbledon, Raducanu again faced questions about a potential romantic connection with Alcaraz after they were spotted filming a promo together at the All England Club. She concluded by stating she had a "good time" with him, adding: "We're just good friends."

Carlos Alcaraz's response to Emma Raducanu rumours spoke volumes after video emerged

Carlos Alcaraz's response to Emma Raducanu rumours spoke volumes after video emerged A romantic union between Spanish tennis icon Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu has been rumoured for some time but remarks once made by the Spanish star suggested otherwise Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu were spotted filming together at this year's Wimbledon (Image: Getty ) After failing to capture his third consecutive Wimbledon title on Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz will undoubtedly be reflecting on what went wrong. The young Spanish tennis star was outplayed by his rival and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who claimed a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory to secure his maiden SW19 title. ‌ This year's outcome stands in stark contrast to the aftermath of the last year's tournament, where Alcaraz was seen enjoying himself at the annual Wimbledon Champions' Dinner, dancing with 2024 women's champion Barbora Krejcikova. ‌ However, it was not the viral video of the dance that sparked gossip for the 22-year-old from Murcia, but rather the presence of Emma Raducanu in the stands during his victory over Novak Djokovic on Centre Court. Following his win, Alcaraz faced questions about the British tennis star, who was eliminated from Wimbledon in the fourth round this year after a thrilling match against Aryna Sabalenka. With persistent rumours surrounding him and Raducanu, Alcaraz was quick to dismiss any romantic speculation, downplaying Raducanu's attendance at the 2024 final.
