‘Ironheart': Instant Emmy predictions for the latest Marvel series
Have no fear — Ironheart is here. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest metal-encased hero flies onto Disney+ today looking to build on some of the pre-Fantastic Four momentum that Thunderbolts kinda-sorta launched. Starring Dominique Thorne, the six-episode series reintroduces us to Riri Williams, a young inventor with Tony Stark-level talent and ambition. The action unfolds in Chicago, where Riri falls in with a group of outlaws led by a hooded frenemy known, appropriately enough, as the Hood (Anthony Ramos).

'The Penguin' star Colin Farrell would be the latest Batman villain to win a major award
So just how high can Ironheart fly at the 2026 Emmys? Here are some instant predictions based on our viewing of all six episodes.
To date, WandaVision remains the first — and only — live-action MCU-affiliated Disney+ series to land a "best in show" level nomination for its single season. Right now, it's unclear whether Ironheart will return for another adventure of this initial six-episode run, and keeping it one-and-done could work in the show's favor come Emmy voting time. Ryan Coogler's involvement as an executive producer certainly lends it major awards pedigree, given that Black Panther is still the sole big-screen Marvel movie to receive a Best Picture nomination. And Ironheart does aim its sights at reaching a similar level of cultural relevance, fusing timely themes of class struggle and minority entrepreneurship into its superhero armor. Riri would be an underdog among Limited Series contenders — and completely out of the running in the case of a Season 2 renewal — but then again, no one expected Iron Man to change the course of comic book movie history.
Marvel
Once again using WandaVision as a guide, Thorne could be the first actress since Elizabeth Olsen — and the first Black actress in Marvel Studios history — to receive an Emmy acting nod. (Angela Basset already claimed the Oscar equivalent of that Marvel-ous milestone for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which introduced Riri into the MCU.) It's a performance that builds in intensity as the season progresses and Riri's ideals run into the realities that come with balancing great power and great responsibility.

Don't judge a character by his name. Alden Ehrenreich may introduce himself as "Joe McGillicuddy" when his tech wizard meets Riri. But in the third episode, you learn his real identity — and it ties into vintage MCU lore. Turns out that Joe McGillicuddy is none other than Ezekiel Stane, son of Iron Man's first foil, Obadiah Stane, played by Jeff Bridges in 2008's Iron Man. Once he embraces his true self, Ehrenreich starts showing some of the same delight that defined Kathryn Hahn's WandaVision transformation from Agnes to Agatha. Not for nothing, she scored a nod in the Supporting Actress category for that reveal.
Key to Riri's evolution is her relationship with her childhood best friend, Natalie, played by This Is Us star Lyric Ross. Though she's been gone from her life for years, Natalie remains a constant presence — even more so when she returns as a projection of the Ironheart suit. Ross' lively, funny performance provides the right counterweight to Thorne's stoic star turn. This is us predicting Emmy recognition.
Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes share Ironheart directing duties with the former helming the first three episodes and the latter taking the series home in the back half. Both ably handle the technical demands of the effects-heavy production, particularly Barnes whose run of episodes takes the series into more fantastical effects territory.
Whatever their mainline Emmy fates, Marvel shows always perform well on the Creative Arts Emmy side of things and Ironheart has multiple shots at multiple VFX, costume, and make-up categories. But a special shout-out should go to the main title design team, who find unique ways for the Ironheart name to show up in each episode.

Bella Ramsey Being Eyed For Marvel's X-Men Film?
Marvel Studios is reportedly setting the stage for its highly anticipated X-Men reboot, and a familiar face from the world of prestige television might be stepping into the mutant spotlight. According to industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Bella Ramsey, the 21-year-old star of The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, is being considered for the role of Kitty Pryde, also known as Shadowcat, in the upcoming film. While the rumor remains unconfirmed, it's generating significant buzz as Marvel begins assembling its next generation of mutant heroes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Ramsey's potential casting signals a fresh take on one of the X-Men's most beloved characters, known for her phasing abilities and emotional depth. Bella Ramsey as Kitty Pryde: A Perfect Fit? Ramsey, who earned widespread acclaim for their role as Ellie in HBO's The Last of Us, has proven their ability to carry complex, emotionally charged characters. Despite some fan backlash to the series' casting, Ramsey's performance won over critics and audiences alike, showcasing a maturity that could translate seamlessly to Kitty Pryde's evolving role in the X-Men universe. Traditionally introduced as a bright-eyed teenager, Kitty has grown into one of the X-Men's emotional anchors over the years, balancing vulnerability with leadership. A slightly older portrayal by Ramsey could allow Marvel to lean into the character's complexity, offering a version of Shadowcat who's both relatable and battle-tested. Did You Know? Kitty Pryde, created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in 1980, was one of the first young mutants to join the X-Men, bringing a fan-favorite perspective to the team's dynamic. The X-Men Reboot: A Star-Studded Lineup? Ramsey isn't the only name swirling around the reboot. Other rumored castings include Julia Butters as a potential Kitty Pryde contender, Bryan Cranston as Professor X, Daisy Edgar-Jones as Jean Grey, and Hunter Schafer as the shape-shifting Mystique. While these are speculative, the list suggests Marvel is aiming for a blend of established stars and rising talents to reintroduce the X-Men to the MCU. See also Warner Bros. Kicks off 'The Conjuring: Last Rites' Marketing With New Teaser The film, likely directed by Thunderbolts* helmer Jake Schreier, is being penned by Michael Lesslie, known for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Schreier, when asked about his approach, remained tight-lipped but hinted at a character-driven vision: 'It always starts from character and working with great writers and collaborators, and certainly thinking about how to do something different with any project that you take on.' Timing and Context in the MCU The X-Men reboot is expected to follow Avengers: Doomsday, which will reportedly feature the return of Fox's legacy X-Men actors, potentially setting the stage for a multiversal handover. This timeline positions the reboot as a pivotal moment for the MCU, introducing mutants as a central force in Marvel's Phase 6 and beyond. With Ramsey's star power and the creative team behind the project, the X-Men reboot could redefine the franchise for a new era, blending nostalgia with bold, character-focused storytelling.

Ironheart Boss Explains That Fight Set at a White Castle, ‘One of the Truest Midwest Things You Could Do!'
The following contains spoilers from Episode 5 of Marvel Television's , now streaming on Disney+. Ironheart head writer Chinaka Hodge simply could not tell a story set in Chicago without having her hero pay a visit to the home of square, steamed, onion-infused sliders. More from TVLine Nine Perfect Strangers' Finale Leaves the Door Open for Season 3 - Do You Hope to See It Return? Countdown: Eric Dane Weighs In on Team's First Big Loss - and Who Is Most Affected by It Ironheart Boss Talks About [Spoiler] Finally Joining the MCU, and Where/If Finale Cliffhanger Will Get Resolved In Episode 5 of the recently wrapped Marvel Television series, Riri Williams (played by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Dominique Thorne) and local sorceress Zelma Stanton (scene stealer Regan Aliyah) meet up at a White Castle — a temporary franchise, mind you, built for the show in Sweet Auburn, Ga. — to discuss the magical source of Parker Robbins aka The Hood's powers. But since Riri was just caught stealing a snippet of The Hood's eponymous cloak to analyze, the Blood Sibs (Wentworth's Zoe Terakes and Sprung's Shakira Barrera) are dispatched to the fast foodery to teach their fellow thief a painful, possibly deadly lesson. Riri quickly sends Zelma away, and a restaurant-wide brawl ensues. Suit-less, Riri unleashes a fryer basket of fries to send one Blood careening across the floor, and employs a fire extinguisher and a heavy food container to clobber the other. Alas, no sooner does Riri trap the siblings inside a protective, hi-tech bubble, she then must square off against an arriving Clown (Birdgirl's Sonia Denis), using a makeshift missile launcher to beat the explosives expert at her own game. Once Riri flees outside, she is scooped up by N.A.T.A.L.I.E. (Lyric Ross), the AI piloting her suit, just in time to face off against a super-bionic Zeke Stane (Solo: A Star Wars Story's Alden Ehrenreich) — wrecking the White Castle sign out front along the way. Given that she delivered one of White Castle's niftiest on-camera showcases since the days of Harold and Kumar, TVLine had to ask Ironheart EP Chinaka Hodge if the fast food chain holds special meaning to her. 'It was my idea! I take credit for it,' she was quick to note during a Zoom with TVLine, while fellow Ironheart EP Ryan Coogler chuckled heartily next to her. 'My mom is from Illinois…,' Hodge went on to explain, 'and growing up, she would talk about — ooh, how do this in a deft way for our partners at White Castle? — how rare it was to have the delight of a slider. But being a California kid, I never had one.' That situation changed at a family reunion in the Midwest, where 'my cousin got me a big ol' box of sliders and I ate as much as Riri ate,' Hodge recalled. Indeed, Riri was in the midst of veritably inhaling sliders, crinkle cut fries and loads of information about the demonic Dormammu when her binge got crashed by the Bloods. 'My partner has a 'sad food,' and it's Popeye's [chicken],' Hodge shared. 'I don't think White Castle is a 'sad food' because you can't stay sad when you eat it, apparently. But Riri, she eats some of her emotions, and I think emotionally eating White Castle is one of the truest Midwest things you could do.' Want scoop on any Marvel TV show? Get a taste of Anaheim Packing District on D23 Night
Since the Anaheim Packing District opened more than 10 years ago, the innovative space has been a model for other food halls and mixed-use spaces. The former 1919 Anaheim Orange and Lemon Assn. Packing House is home to nearly 30 culinary artisans and on the evening of Wednesday, July 16, diners will get the chance to sample a few of them during its annual World Taste event. Conceived as a celebration of the culinary diversity at the Anaheim food hall, World Taste takes place on Anaheim Packing District's D23 Night. In partnership with the official Disney Fan Club, special Disney activities are planned for the evening, including DJ Clark Chuka spinning Disney tracks and tunes at the Packing House and D23 Trivia and a Sip & Sketch at Unsung Brewing, located in the MAKE building. From 5 to 9 p.m. the international tasting event will host these activities alongside tastes from participating culinary artisans within the MAKE, Anaheim Packing House and Farmers Park. One ticket, priced at $49.77, includes seven taste experiences, allowing guests to create their own eat-your-own-adventure menu. This year, the event is also introducing a 'tiny taste' ticket, priced at $28.44 for kids that offers four tastes for smaller appetites. Nearly 20 vendors will participate in World Taste, including Black Sheep Grilled Cheese Bar, serving a sweet and savory Ohana grilled cheese with mozzarella, honey ham and bacon on grilled bread with a side of house made pineapple preserves, and Iron Press, which will be offering loco moco sliders. Guests can also look forward to hand-folded spicy shrimp wantons from 18 Folds and mini samosa chaat stuffed with chickpeas, chutney and cilantro from Adya Indian Flavors. Urbana Mexican Gastronomy will have crispy birria rolls available and ZeroZero 39 Pizzeria Anaheim will serve up Roman-style pizza by the slice. Some vendors will lean into the Disney theme, like Chippy Fish & Grill offering mouse-shaped beignets and Unsung Brewing pouring a poison green apple seltzer. Zabon Ramen and Rolls has 'Finding Carpaccio' on the menu, inspired by Disney Pixar's 'Finding Nemo' and featuring thinly slice yellowtail in yuzu ponzu sauce. The Wooden Pearl, one the newest vendors to join the Anaheim Packing District, will also take part in the event, serving an oyster dish. Open since April with an elevated surf and turf menu, the Wooden Pearl expressed enthusiasm about joining the culinary circle at the packing district. 'It's an honor to join the vibrant and diverse food scene at the Anaheim Packing District. At The Wooden Pearl, we're excited to bring a fresh take on surf and turf that reflects both California's coastal spirit and our love for bold, intentional flavors,' said Dago Caceres, executive chef at the Wooden Pearl. 'We're proud to be part of what makes this community so dynamic.' Other eateries serving bites for the event include 206 BCE, Georgia's Soul Food, the Kroft, Le Parfait Paris, Mini Monster, Pique-Nique, Mangal Mediterranean and Pali Wine Co.
