Dream job for beer lovers as popular Scottish brewery looks to recruit 5 tasters
A dream job for beer lovers is up for grabs, as one of Scotland's top breweries has launched a nationwide search for a new beer taster - a role that requires little more than a passion for lager and promises unique VIP experiences.
Innis & Gunn is seeking to fill five coveted beer taster positions for a full year, with the work set to start on July 1, 2025. Far from needing a traditional CV, the main requirement is a genuine love for their lager, which will of course, be provided free of charge.
The rewards for these lucky individuals go beyond sampling new brews. The chosen tasters will gain VIP access to some of Scotland's most prestigious cultural events, Scottish Daily Express reported.
Those who get the job will have the opportunity to enjoy Belladrum, the Edinburgh Christmas Market, Celtic Connections, and even The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Innis & Gunn believes this "could genuinely be the best gig in the country."
The search for these 'pint professionals' kicked off in a unique way in Glasgow. The brewery partnered with video interview platform Willo to create a live, interactive application experience.
A special pop up booth was set up at The Social Hub in Glasgow, inviting passersby to step inside and participate.
The booth captured the attention of busy Glaswegians, prompting them to answer a series of cleverly designed questions.
These ranged from the technical, such as describing the flavour of a pint in just five words, to the more playful, asking applicants to demonstrate pulling an imaginary pint.
The result was a "hilarious reel of passionate pitches" from enthusiastic potential candidates.
While the Glasgow launch offered a fun twist on the interview process, the opportunity itself is a serious one with fantastic perks.
The selected tasters will receive training in addition to gaining exclusive access to new beers at the Innis & Gunn Taproom.

Dougal Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn, explained the choice of launch location: "Glasgow's got personality by the pint, so it made perfect sense to kick off our search for Scotland's top beer taster right here.
"We wanted to do something that felt less like a job interview and more like a laugh down the pub, and that's exactly what happened at The Social Hub."
He added: "With help from our friends at Willo, we've captured some brilliant characters who know their way around a beer, and we can't wait to see who else throws their hat in the ring. This could genuinely be the best gig in the country so get your applications in as soon as you can."
For those hoping to land one of these dream roles but who missed the Glasgow event, applications can be made online. Simply pick up a promotional pack of Innis & Gunn lager in store and follow the instructions provided to throw your hat in the ring.

Anne Hegerty of 'The Chase' uninterested in relationships after wedding snub
The TV star is a regular on the showbiz circuit and admits that she's not one for romantic relationships There's no one quite like Anne Hegerty. A quiz champion on The Chase since 2010 and a memorable participant in the jungle in 2018, the 67-year-old, who was diagnosed with autism in her mid-40s, is unashamedly herself. Just last month, Anne, who boasts an estimated net worth of £3.2 million, shed light on the payment structure for the Chasers on the hit quiz show, explaining there's no fixed salary involved and their earnings are not guaranteed. Now, the sharp-witted and refreshingly candid TV personality has chatted to OK! Magazine about her disinterest in romance, her bone of contention with former jungle campmate Nick Knowles, and an ambition she's yet to fulfil. On being comfortable in her own company, Anne told OK: "Even at showbiz events, I need to take time out if it's very noisy. I need to chill for a bit, alone. I know many people like that. "People keep inviting me to things and I think, 'Are you lonely?' So many people have tons of friends and have to have them around all the time." Asked if she'd like someone special to share her life with, Anne answered frankly: "No, I really wouldn't. "I used to, but I realised I was wanting to want it rather than genuinely wanting a romantic relationship. "I don't even want pets. I've got pot plants and I mind when they die, but no, I'm very happy in my own company. I'm just fine." Anne said she keeps in touch with her old I'm A Celebrity campmates here and there, but that a special occasion concerning Nick Knowles prompted the reality TV show line-up from six years ago to reconnect. "We've still got our WhatsApp group," Anne revealed. "It's not very active, but I did post on there recently. I saw in the papers that Nick Knowles had got married. I didn't get an invite, but I'm not bitter – much! "I posted my congrats on the group and everyone else did the same. If I meet any of them out and about, it's always big catch-ups and hugs." So, with one reality TV show having been ticked off the list, could she be tempted to get her dancing shows on for another? A certain Strictly Come Dancing perhaps? "My agent tried to get me to do it ages ago, but I couldn't even formulate the words to say, 'I think this is a bloody terrible idea.' I can't dance to save my life. "When I'm in panto, you can make me sing a bit but, whatever you do, don't make me dance." Anne does harbour one burning ambition, though, admitting: "I would love to do a bit of acting. I'd love a chance to do a comedy role. I do love being funny."

Meghan Markle 'warned' after being 'called out' by A-lister as she calculates next move
Meghan has been warned after a big name appeared to call out the Duchess of Sussex in a recent interview Meghan Markle has reportedly been "warned" after she was "called out" by an A-lister in a media interview recently. The Duchess of Sussex has been cautioned not to "challenge" Martha Stewart, who is a household name in the US. The caution follows the Hollywood star's apparent critique of the 43-year-old in a recent interview. Meghan's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and her brand, As Ever, have both received mixed responses. Last month, it was announced that the ex-actress would be filming a second series of her recent Netflix programme where she bakes and cooks from scratch, as well as creates homemade items like candles and bath salts. Martha, 83, an entrepreneur, TV personality, and lifestyle guru, wasn't afraid to ruffle some feathers while admitting to Yahoo Lifestyle that she hopes Meghan "knows what she's talking about" while questioning her "authenticity." "Meghan, I don't really know very well," Martha told the outlet when asked how she felt about public figures building lifestyle brands. "I hope she knows what she's talking about." She went on: "Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important." Speaking on Talk TV, Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield advised Meghan against confronting the TV titan. "This is a tough cookie," she said. "You don't go head-to-head with Martha Stewart. You don't challenge her. "If Martha is critical of Meghan, she has to sit back and take it because not only has Martha built her own brand from the ground up, she's lived through so many tough experiences." Martha didn't appear to have a problem with Gwyneth Paltrow, actress-turned-lifestyle guru, though, who launched her wellness and lifestyle brand, Goop, as a homespun weekly newsletter from her kitchen in 2008. "Gwyneth has been very successful," she said of the Goop founder. "She created quite an interesting body of businesses. She's admired. She won an Oscar for heaven's sake as an actress! She's pretty powerful." Seeming unfazed by the competition, she added: "I don't mind. Good luck." It comes amid reports that to Meghan Markle now that she's landed a loftier title, according to a friend. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Sophie, formerly the Countess of Wessex, secured the promotion when her husband, Prince Edward, was bestowed with his own new title to allow her to enjoy the prestigious name of Duchess of Edinburgh. Prior to this, Meghan, as the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry's wife, would have been higher in rank, meaning that royal protocol stipulated that Sophie had to curtsey to her at royal events. The royal, whose husband is the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was reportedly "relieved" that she "no longer" had to abide by this particularly strict tradition, a friend of hers told reporters.

Patrick Kielty 'in dark place' if fears over Cat Deeley moving back to US come true
Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley announced this week they are to split after 13 years of marriage Insiders have expressed concern that Patrick Kielty could be "in a very dark place" if his ex-wife Cat Deeley decides to return to the US with their children. The couple, who were married for 13 years, announced their separation this week, causing shockwaves and concern among their close circles. Residents in Dundrum, County Down - Patrick's hometown - have voiced their worry for the 54 year old star, who tied the knot with Cat in Rome back in September 2012. Those close to Patrick, father of two children with Cat, fear he would be heartbroken if his former spouse returns to the US, where they previously resided. An insider revealed: "Everyone is worried about Paddy. The fear is that Cat will go back to America with the little ones. That will leave him in a very dark place," reports the Mirror. Cat took over presenting duties on ITV's This Morning last year alongside Ben Shephard, following the departures of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. However, since confirming her split from Patrick, it has come to light that 48 year old Cat found the transition back to the UK challenging. There are growing concerns that Cat, who began her career hosting SMTV Live on Saturday mornings, might quit her role at ITV and head back to the US. Television insiders told Mail Online: "Cat's time on This Morning has not been a failure, but it has hardly been a roaring success. "It is a job which puts her under so much scrutiny, day-in and day-out, and unlike most British presenters she has plenty more lucrative options to choose from in the States... there is concern that all of this family drama could lead her to walk away." Cat and Patrick, a comedian and TV host, resided in Los Angeles for over 14 years, where Cat hosted the reality TV show, So You Think You Can Dance. They returned to the UK and Cat promptly began on This Morning, believed to be one of several ITV daytime shows facing budget cuts. The broadcaster recently unveiled plans for a revamp, including reducing Lorraine by 30 minutes and discontinuing it entirely during school holidays from January. It's thought that This Morning will relocate from its White City base in west London to a smaller, less expensive studio in central London. Cat has been candid about her struggles adjusting to the 5am starts for the four days a week she presents This Morning, revealing that it resulted in her and Patrick sleeping in separate beds most nights. Last September, Patrick, who presents The Late Late Show which is recorded in Dublin, dismissed suggestions that the couple were finding it hard to make time for each other. Patrick and Cat announced their split in a joint statement to the PA News agency which read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected."
