Dare to walk amongst the undead? Maybe howl at the moon with werewolves? Or even come across the Creature of the Black Lagoon fresh out of the water?
Universal Orlando's Epic Universe will give parkgoers a chance to channel their inner monster at Dark Universe, one of the five immersive lands featured at the new theme park.
"There's so much for guests to do and see and discover. I really hope that the strokes that we've taken here feed the monster kids that are out there — the people who really love the legacy. And I hope that it starts a fire of passion for these characters in new audiences," Chris Frisella, executive producer of Dark Universe, said, according to WDWNT.
Epic Universe will officially open on Thursday, May 22. It is located in Universal's new south campus, about 15 minutes down the road. The official address is 4700 E. Sand Lake Road in Orlando.
What is Dark Universe at Epic Universe? Encounter Universal Classic Monsters
Guests will enter Dark Universe from Celestial Park through a portal in a giant dead tree and walk right up to Frankenstein Manor. Described as a "shadowy world where the unknown lurks around every corner," Dark Universe takes Universal Classic Monsters off the screen and places them in real life.
Universal says parkgoers will explore a village ravaged by the wrath of unearthly creatures and the monstrous experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein. Oh, and the land's music is composed by Danny Elfman, for extra eerie feels.

IT'S ALIVE … IT'S ALIVE!!! Dark Universe will bring two new attractions to life.
Theme park fans have already been scoping out any new details for Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. It features 14 of the most life-like (and downright terrifying) animated figures ever created, including Dracula, The Wolf Man, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
" … It will take guests deep into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein – the great-great-granddaughter of the infamous Henry Frankenstein – conducts her twisted and misguided experiments," Universal writes. "In a vain display of her genius, she invites guests to witness a demonstration of her ability to control monsters – but her plans go awry when a horde of enraged monsters are unleashed."
The land's other ride, Curse of the Werewolf, is also sure to both thrill and chill parkgoers.
Deep in the woods that sit on the edge of Darkmoor is a spinning family coaster inspired by 'The Wolf Man.' According to Universal, guests will enter the encampment of The Guild of Mystics, where they'll be greeted by the Maleva, the guild's all-knowing seer and leader, who warns them that they bear the mark of the werewolf.
Guests then board a wagon and venture into the forest, racing to escape the werewolves before they become one themselves.

To Make ‘Jurassic Park: Rebirth,' Gareth Edwards Had to Set a Production Speed Record
David Koepp handed Universal his 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' script in December 2023. In March 2024, director Gareth Edwards met with producers Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg. Production began three months later, on June 13, 2024, and wrapped last October. For a VFX-heavy blockbuster slated for Fourth of July weekend 2025, it is a virtually unheard-of turnaround. When Edwards was a guest on this week's episode of the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, he discussed how the hardest aspect of the shortened production schedule was being hired just three months before shooting. More from IndieWire Brad Pitt Says Bradley Cooper's 'Maestro' Is 'One of the Best Movies of This Decade' 'She Rides Shotgun' Trailer: Taron Egerton Is an Ex Con Protecting His Daughter from Corrupt Cops in Thriller 'It was the same amount of prep I had on 'Monsters,' which I shot with three of us in a van,' said Edwards, referencing his 2010 festival breakout that catapulted him to becoming a studio director. 'Usually you get at least two-and-a-half years from the day they call you, to the day you finish the movie.' That was the schedule Edwards had on 'Godzilla,' 'Rogue One,' and 'The Creator.' When Universal wanted to cut it in half for one of Hollywood's biggest spectacle franchises, Edwards tried to push back. 'I remember day one, we went to Universal and there was Donna Langley and Peter Kramer, the heads of Universal,' said Edwards. 'And I put my hand up, 'Yeah, Gareth, at the back.' I'm like, 'Can we push the release date?'' The movie that hits theaters today, only 16 months after that meeting, shows no signs of being short-changed. The action set pieces and visual effects are among the very best since Spielberg's original. Edwards came up as a self-taught VFX artist and has the reputation for being not only one of the most innovative directors of VFX but also someone whose creative process combines conception with execution, leading to far greater efficiencies. 'I think I've always feel that the process is as important as the thing you're making the product,' said Edwards. 'The way you make a film is to me so fundamental, and obviously doing this movie, [we had to do that].' Edwards brought aboard Jim Spencer, his producing partner on what he called his 'two most guerilla' projects, 'Monsters' and 'The Creator,' but not in an effort to convert the 'Jurassic Park' team to their ways. 'Early on, [Spencer and I said], 'We can't change the machine,' said Edwards. 'If you try to fight the machine that is this massive blockbuster, the way these [are made], if you try to reinvent the process, 'Oh, we're not going to shoot it like this, we're going to shoot it more like this,' and really go against it, it's going to run over you,' said Edwards, indicating he was speaking from experience. 'I think you can change the machine, and do things differently, but there's a limit when you've got a really limited timeframe with three months pre-production, getting everyone on the same page to reinvent the process massively is not possible,' he said. 'It was more like, choose your battles, and my main goal was, 'Let's go to real locations.'' Edwards' philosophy: Even if those real backdrops will be significantly altered and augmented, even to the point of even no longer being recognizable, being in a real place is why his VFX-driven films feel so grounded. That 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' was able to quickly land on a main location was serendipitous. In their first meeting, Spielberg told Edwards the franchise was looking to move on from Hawaii, which represented original 'Jurassic Park' locale Isla Nublar. For the nearby Ile Saint-Hubert — an equatorial island off the coast of South America, which we learn once housed a secret lab creating hybrid dinosaurs — they were scouting Costa Rica and Thailand. 'I couldn't be better placed for this conversation because I did 'Monsters' in Costa Rica, and we looked high and low in that country for crazy primordial jungle scapes and beaches, and we'd just done that with 'The Creator' in Thailand,' said Edwards. In that first meeting, he made it clear that Thailand, specifically Phang Nga Bay, was exactly what Spielberg wanted. 'So it all clicked really quickly and it probably saved us some time. I didn't have to scout all those locations because I knew most of them.' Visual effects supervisor and second unit director David Vickery's team quickly shot footage of the locations, which became virtual 3D renderings that allowed Edwards and his collaborators to work virtually. 'I said to the studio when we started, 'We've got three months, we cannot make a mini version of this film in pre-viz, we haven't got time,' said Edwards. 'But, then we had virtual cameras, it's like there's a little volume space and they set it up in the office and essentially you could see in real time, an Unreal Engine version of your ship and the [dinosaur].' Working virtually, Edwards could go through his creative process of designing the action of a big set piece while allowing department heads to figure out what they needed to prep. 'It's like a jigsaw puzzle where you haven't got the box, you don't know what the picture is, but you start going, 'Well, we need a shot like this,'' said Edwards. 'Going through the motions of shooting those shots [with a virtual camera], it then allowed other people to go, 'I think we're going to need a helicopter.' 'I think we're going to need a drone here.' 'It creates all these ingredients so that the production can start to make all those things happen… It's just like controlled chaos, really.' Universal Pictures will release 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' in theaters on Wednesday, July 2. ‘Mamma Mia!' actor recalls ‘unbearable' day on set — and how Christine Baranski reacted to complaints
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!… a fan. 'Mamma Mia!' actor Juan Pablo Di Pace is recalling an unbearably hot day on the set of the franchise's first film — and how Christine Baranski kept it cool. Baranski, 73, played Tanya in the 2008 musical comedy and reprised her role in its 2018 sequel, 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.' 7 Baranski played Tanya in 2008's 'Mamma Mia!' and 2018's 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.' ©Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection 7 Di Pace appeared as Petros, later revealed to be Harry Bright's (Colin Firth) partner, in the original film. Universal Pictures Di Pace portrayed Petros in the original installment, appearing in dance numbers throughout and later revealed to be Harry Bright's (Colin Firth) partner. 'I just loved every second of rehearsing and shooting it,' Di Pace, 45, exclusively told The Post, specifically reflecting on the iconic 'Does Your Mother Know' beach scene with Baranski. 'We were all just so hot, and it was really summer, like the heat was unbearable,' he explained. 'We had to do this massive number, all the boys around her, and eight hours later, all the boys, who were 20, were complaining.' That's when Baranski spoke up. 7 Baranski in the iconic 'Does Your Mother Know' beach scene in 'Mamma Mia!' Universal Pictures 'Come on, guys, we're doing what we love,' he recalled her saying. 'All of a sudden, everyone just got it. We were like, 'Yeah, what are we complaining about? This is exactly what we're here for,'' Di Pace said. 'It was amazing, and she's amazing, and everyone in that movie was just so great,' he concluded. 7 'Mamma Mia!' premiered 17 years ago on July 18, 2008. ©Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection 'Mamma Mia!' premiered 17 years ago on July 18, 2008. Both a prequel and a sequel, 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' hit theaters on July 20, 2018, within days of its predecessor's release. Since then, there have been ongoing talks of a 'Mamma Mia! 3,' which Baranski said is in the works. 'I was in London [producer] Judy Craymer at our favorite watering hole, [and] she is planning 'Mamma Mia! 3,'' she told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview published in August 2024. I Tried All The "Back To The Future" Food At Universal Studios
Hello, friends, I'm Crystal, and I'm a big fan of Back to the Future, as well as trying wild, interesting, and new foods at theme parks. So, when I found out Universal Studios Hollywood currently has an entire menu of Back to the Future-themed food, I is heavy! Now, some of the BTTF food was actually introduced during Universal's Fan Fest Nights. But the good news for anyone who couldn't make it to that limited event is that it's still available (with some NEW additions) as part of Universal's Mega Movie Summer! Mega Movie Summer is basically Universal's celebration of some of their biggest properties, like Back to the Future, as well as Jurassic World, How to Train Your Dragon, Wicked, and also Jaws, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary! The celebration is going on now and continues daily through Sunday, August 10, and is all included in the regular price of admission. (It is NOT a separate ticket/event!) Here's a look at the entire Back to the Future menu, which is available at Mel's Diner in the park: Note: Some of the items on the menu are the "normal" Mel's Diner fare, so if you're looking for a regular ol' chili dog, they've got that, too! Here's what I thought... Flux Capacitor Patty Melt Things started off really strong with the patty melt. I've never met a patty melt I didn't like, and this one is no exception. Do not be fooled by my unimpressive photo above! All the grilled aspects — the buttery bread, the onions, and the patty itself — were perfectly cooked. And I have to give them props for "branding" the top of the bun with a little Flux Capacitor logo, even if it was a LITTLE tough to make out, lol. I appreciate fun decorative details! 9.5/10 Doc Brown's Chicken Pot Pie I'm actually really torn between this and the patty melt being my favorite dish. First of all, I love that it's kind of a joke/nod to the "Doc Brown's Chicken" restaurant that used to exist at Universal Studios. (Why would Doc Brown have a chicken restaurant?! The world may never know.) Next, the cheesy crumbles on top of the pot pie were a deliciously savory surprise, plus I loved that it was in the form of a radioactive/plutonium logo (more fun details!). Finally, the chicken pot pie itself was perfect. It had a nice, flaky, buttery top, succulent chicken, and savory fillings. What's not to like?! If I have one tiny complaint, it's that this dish is a little small for the price (considering it's almost the same price as the melts, which come with fries on the side). So, this probably isn't the best bang for your buck. BUT, if you love a good pot pie, this one is worth it. 9/10 Time Machine Pastrami Melt Unsurprisingly, the pastrami melt was also super yummy. It had all the right elements — juicy pastrami meat, crunchy slaw, tangy Swiss cheese, and perfectly grilled bread. But if I had to pick between the melts, I'd go with the patty one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Much like the other details, the cute "88 mph" toothpick it came with was a fun touch! 8/10 Flux Capacitor (Drink) This entertaining drink (which is non-alcoholic) comes with Sprite, passionfruit, and blue Curaçao syrup, and is very refreshing! But the REAL winner is the fact that it's served with dry ice, which makes it look like something Doc Brown would concoct in his lab. 7/10Note: There's also a "Wake Up Juice" cocktail on the menu, but because I'm not currently drinking alcohol, I didn't try it. But it looks great also (and, of course, LOVE the name)! FYI, this one makes for a great video! Time Traveler's Milk Shake This milkshake was...A LOT. Like, it's super sweet. Despite the cute blue coloring, I was surprised the flavor was simply vanilla, but specifically like vanilla cupcake frosting flavor. So, if that's your jam, you will LOVE this. But, if you're not really into sweets, I'd prob give this a skip! 6/10 Finally, the Outatime Cookie As far as cookies go, this isn't the GREATEST cookie I've ever had. It's basically a hard sugar cookie, and the frosting doesn't have a particular taste-wise, not exactly noteworthy. BUT, let's be real, if you're getting this cookie, it's because it looks cool AF. And I reallllly love the design. 8/10 As I mentioned, this special Back to the Future menu is available at Universal Studios Hollywood as part of their Mega Movie Summer! And, FYI, if BTTF isn't your ~thing~, there's also fun food themed around Jaws, Jurassic World, and How to Train Your Dragon available throughout the park. Oh, and be SURE to get a pic with the iconic GIANT SHARK from Jaws that's been reintroduced to the theme park for Mega Movie Summer! (Maybe you remember it from your childhood?!). Obsessed. And if you're lucky, you might get a chance to meet Captain Quint and Chief Brody, who are making their theme park debut! Universal Mega Movie Summer is going on NOW through Sunday, August 10, and you can get your tickets at
