Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta Declares Thursday as First Day of Muharram 1447 AH
Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta announced Wednesday evening that the Islamic month of Muharram for the year 1447 AH will begin on Thursday, June 26, 2025, following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon.
The announcement came after specialized legal and scientific committees deployed across the country observed the new moon after sunset on Wednesday, corresponding to the 29th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH (June 25, 2025). Based on the verified sighting, Dar Al-Ifta confirmed that Thursday marks the first day of the Islamic New Year.
On this occasion, Egypt's Grand Mufti, Professor Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, extended warm congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, wishing him continued health and success. He also offered greetings to the Egyptian people, as well as to the leaders and citizens of Arab and Islamic nations around the world.
Dar Al-Ifta prayed that the new year brings blessings, peace, and prosperity to Egypt and all Muslims globally.

OIC: Israeli Occupation Burn Agricultural Land in 11 West Bank villages
Mohamed Mandour The Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Media Observatory on Israeli Crimes against Palestinians recorded 998 Palestinian murdered between July 1 and 7, 2025, including (992) murdered in the Gaza Strip alone. During this period, 762 Palestinians were murdered, and civil defense personnel recovered 7 additional Palestinians from under the rubble. Data on 223 Palestinians who fell earlier in the aggression were also documented, adding this number to the total number of murdered since October 7, 2023, which has reached 59,033. The number of injured over the past seven days has reached 2,991, and 145,226 over the period from October 7, 2023, to July 7, 2025. According to the OIC Observatory, the occupation forces continued to kill numerous Palestinians among those waiting for aids over the past week. They also bombed a water desalination plant in the al-Rimal neighborhood as part of their deliberate attacks targeting the basic needs of Gaza residents. They also targeted the Abu Asi School, run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), in the Shati refugee camp, and a school in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood. Meanwhile, the United Nations office in Gaza announced that five school buildings housing displaced persons in the northern Gaza Strip were subjected to Israeli bombing on July 1 and 2, which also killed the director of the Indonesian Hospital and his family. During that period, fuel ran out at al-Shifa Medical Complex, threatening the lives of 350 kidney failure patients. Nasser Hospital also announced a fuel shortage, threatening the lives of infants due to the incubators' failure. These developments came as Gaza residents live on only 25% of the remaining inhabited land due to the 'Gideon Vehicles' plan, which aims to seize Palestinian land. In the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds, the occupation army carried out 299 raids on Palestinian areas between July 1 and 7, 2025. These raids included numerous crimes, the most notorious of which was the arrest of 198 Palestinians, including six children, in Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Nablus. The raids also included the storming of a kindergarten in Al-Khalil and the government hospital in Tulkarm. The demolition of 100 buildings in Jenin camp brought the total number of buildings demolished in the past seven days to 132, including 48 in Nur Shams camp in Tulkarm and 58 in Tulkarm camp. Radical Islamists, the biggest threat to Islam and its followers
The greatest threats to most nations are that of external enemies. The Islamic nation, however, sees it biggest enemy come from within. The radical culture that has come to dominate Islamic thought has divided Muslim societies into disparate, warring, and mutually antagonistic groups and sects. In times of peace, these groups serve as the scapegoat for dictatorial rulers. The ruler uses the existence of these groups as a justification to close off democratic avenues and postpone the idea of power transfer, under the guise of protecting his nation from them. This is despite the fact that these groups tend to operate under the ruler's consent, serving as his best excuse – both domestically and internationally – to remain in power indefinitely. He suggests to both internal and external audiences that the alternative to his rule is these extremist, backward, and violent groups, thereby forcing them to accept the status quo. On another front, we have seen these groups responsible for the failure of Arab revolutions, as happened in Libya, Syria, and Yemen. However, Egypt and Tunisia's revolutions succeeded because the people rejected these groups. For instance, had the Syrian people fully fought as one, as citizens united against their ruler, that ruler would not have remained in power. Instead, the people are divided into sects and groups: there are Sunnis, Alawites, Druze, Christians, and Kurds. Furthermore, Islamist groups have been justified to spread the cause for Israel's brutal occupation, as they have divided the Palestinian people in how they can confront their occupier. We seethe likes of Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Al-Quds Brigades, Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, and many other factions, instead of unity under one national banner regardless of religion. There should be no difference between a Palestinian Sunni, Shiite, Druze, or Christian Muslim, or others. Why don't we learn from others? The Ukrainian nation is resisting the Russian occupation with one heart, united fully. We don't find independent Ukrainian groups separate from the leadership saying, 'We are the Christian group' or 'Christian Jihad' or anything of that sort. For this, the world respected them and stood by them. Meanwhile, we ask ourselves: Why doesn't the world stand by the Palestinian people? The answer is because we haven't presented a unified image, with agreed on goals and principles, to the world. Instead, the world only sees hostility between Palestinian factions and sects – the time when Hamas once fought Fatah members in Gaza isn't a distant memory. If something similar happened among the Ukrainian people resisting their occupier, the world would have stop supporting the Ukrainian people. In other words, if we respect ourselves, the world would respect us. When will our people understand this? This is what gave an American the opportunity to say on a TV channel, 'We support Israel in protecting its security by killing the commander of Islamic Jihad's northern region, Tayseer al-Ajroudi.' The presenter interrupted him, stating that Israel attacked peaceful people in their homes. The American replied, 'And why didn't Israel do that to Fatah members?' justifying it by saying Israel is targeting terrorists. Therefore, we argue that unifying the Palestinian people under one national banner, without color or sectarianism, is essential for the protection of all Palestinians and has become an urgent necessity. Otherwise, the conflict will persist, and we will witness this painful, recurring scene of innocent lives lost due to a failure to listen to reason. Radical groups must understand they have erred; historical experience has constantly proven this. Without unity, the world will not stand with us, nor will Arab or Islamic nations support radical groups. Islamic governments, like other nations, now fear radical groups that might turn against them at any time, declare them infidels, and carry out terrorist operations against them, as Hamas did to Egypt. Thus, we must realize that the disunity and division caused by radical extremist Islamic groups will lead us to lose our cause, as has happened repeatedly in the past. Turkish Warship TCG Büyükada Makes Port Call in Alexandria After Three-Month Voyage
Ahmed Emam The Turkish corvette TCG Büyükada has arrived at the port of Alexandria, Egypt, marking the final stop of an extensive three-month journey that took the warship as far as Malaysia, according to Turkish Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Salih Mutlu. In a post on social media platform X, Ambassador Mutlu highlighted that the corvette was 'constructed with our indigenous resources and expertise' and had successfully crossed oceans to return to the Mediterranean. 'I commend our distinguished Commanding Officer and exceptional crew for their successful mission,' he said. However, he noted that the recent loss of twelve Turkish servicemen weighs heavily on the nation, tempering the sense of accomplishment over the voyage. Details regarding the circumstances of the losses were not specified. Also, Ambassador Mutlu expressed gratitude toward the Egyptian Naval Command for their warm welcome and hospitality.
