LSU Football Preview 2025: Tigers Season Prediction, Win Total Projection, Top Players
LSU Tigers Key to the Season
Make more big defensive plays. This is LSU. It has among the best defensive backs in the country, but they're young and/or new. Last year's secondary wasn't awful, but the pass defense got roasted by USC at the beginning of the season, was ripped up in the win over Baylor in the end, and it only picked off six passes. The Tigers were 6-0 when coming up with an interception, and 3-4 when they didn't.
LSU Tigers Key Player
Tyree Adams, OT Soph.A good recruit - but not among the elite of the elite - Adams stepped up last year as a backup when he wasn't starting at guard. Now the 6-7, 310-pounder will be tried out at left tackle. All he has to do is replace Will Campbell while keeping Garrett Nussmeier from getting popped.X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN2025 LSU PreviewLSU Offense BreakdownLSU Defense Breakdown
LSU Tigers Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Patrick Payton, EDGE Sr.A tall, skinny pass rusher when he came to Florida State, he's always had the athleticism and upside, and then he filled out and became a terror with 16 sacks and 32 tackles for loss over the last three seasons. He should be an All-SEC star at one of the LSU ends.Top Transfer Out: CJ Daniels, WR Sr.He started his career as a star at Liberty, averaging over 18 yards per catch with 21 touchdowns in his 106-catch four-year run. He came to LSU and was fine, making 42 grabs for 480 yards. The Tiger receiving corps is more than fine, but it's losing a veteran who should light it up for Miami.
LSU Tigers Key Game
at Clemson, Aug. 30USC 27, LSU 20 … Florida State 45, LSU 24 … Florida State 24, LSU 23 … UCLA 38, LSU 27 … Mississippi State 44, LSU 34 …LSU has lost five straight season openers since the epic 2019 national championship season, and each one all but ruined any national title hopes before things got going. Florida is coming up two weeks later, and a trip to Ole Miss is still up in September.Beat Clemson, LSU.- 2025 LSU Schedule Breakdown

LSU Tigers 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen
There are just enough unavoidable landmines to prevent this from being a dominant run, but it's not a hard enough schedule to ask for anything less than a 10-2 record and a trip to the College Football Playoff.Beating Arkansas, Florida, and South Carolina won't be easy, but those three are in Baton Rouge, so …At Alabama, at Clemson, at Oklahoma, at Ole Miss, Texas A&M. Those five games are the problem. Go 4-1, and LSU is in the College Football Playoff. Go 3-2, and it gets dicey. 2-3, and forget it.
LSU will do well in the big battles, but it'll biff one of those home games, either to Florida or South Carolina, to be just on the CFP outside looking in.Set The LSU Win Total At … 8.5Likely Wins: Louisiana Tech, SE Louisiana, WKU50/50 Games: at Alabama, Arkansas, at Clemson, Florida, at Oklahoma, at Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M, at VanderbiltLikely Losses: No projected sure-thing losses 2025 LSU PreviewLSU Offense BreakdownLSU Defense Breakdown

Former UNC wide receiver praises Bill Belichick for his coaching style
This former UNC football player had some nice things to say about Chapel Bill. 2024 was another lost football season for the North Carolina Tar Heels, whom – despite clinching their sixth-consecutive trip to a bowl game – finished with their second losing record in four seasons. If you thought last year was bad for UNC, take a look at Florida State. The Seminoles started 2024 ranked, as they typically are, then proceeded to win just two games. North Carolina reloaded its roster this offseason under new head coach Bill Belichick, who brings eight Super Bowls and countless experience to Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels' greatest replacements come on defense, though, replacing their entire starting defensive line with the likes of Pryce Yates and Vilbert Smith. Gavin Blackwell, who played his first four collegiate seasons at UNC, had an opportunity to learn from Belichick for a few months. Now on FSU, Blackwell praised his former head coach, despite never suiting up for him. "He was great," Blackwell said. "Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about Coach (Bill) Belichick. He loves football. Everything you see online and stuff like that, I would kind of say the media portrays it a little bit differently than what it is inside the building. He loves his players, he loves his coaches and he's all about ball. He kind of brought more of an NFL aspect to college and that's kind of what they're running there. But himself, he's down-to-earth dude, not a big-headed guy. You can go up to him, have a conversation, talk ball with him. He loves that type of stuff and when you show that you're interested, he's gonna make sure he gives you that same respect and try to help you as much as he can. He's got eight Super Bowls. Great dude, wish them the best." Blackwell redshirted his first collegiate season in 2021, appearing in just one game, but emerged the following year with 239 receiving yards and his lone touchdown. Now on a Mike Norvell-led roster desperately searching for productive talent, Blackwell has a real chance to put up WR1 numbers. LSU Sends Angel Reese Message After Chicago Sky's 11th Defeat
LSU Sends Angel Reese Message After Chicago Sky's 11th Defeat originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's been a rough start to the season for Tyler Marsh and the Chicago Sky. On Friday night, they battled hard on the road against Golden State but came up short, losing 83-78 to the Valkyries. Advertisement That marked the Sky's 11th loss in 15 games, leaving them near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings; only Connecticut has fared worse so far. Still, there was a bright spot. Angel Reese delivered another impressive performance. The second-year forward out of LSU racked up 17 points and 18 rebounds, notching her third straight double-double and 10th of the season. After the game, the Tigers showed love to their former star, posting: "Nothing new for our double-double queens tonight." Over her last three games, Reese is averaging 15 points and 18 rebounds. While she shot just 7-for-16 from the field against the Valkyries, she made both free throws and connected on one of two 3-point attempts. Advertisement Reese played at LSU from 2022-24, helping the Tigers win the national title in 2023. She earned tournament Most Outstanding Player honors under head coach Kim Mulkey during that historic run. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) had 17 points and 18 rebounds on Friday against the Golden State Gonzales-Imagn Images LSU also recognized the performance of another former Tiger, Aneesah Morrow. She transferred to LSU for the 2023-24 season after two dominant years at DePaul. She led the nation in rebounding twice, first at DePaul (13.8 rpg) in 2021-22 and then at LSU (13.5 rpg) in 2024-25. Morrow was selected seventh overall by the Connecticut Sun in the 2025 WNBA Draft. While the Sun have struggled this season, Morrow shined in Friday's 97-81 loss to the Seattle Storm, coming off the bench to post 20 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes, a season-high in playing time and her first career WNBA double-double. Advertisement Both Reese and Morrow are proving they belong at the next level, even as their teams continue to search for wins. Steve Sarkisian makes bold statement about Longhorns football
Steve Sarkisian ranks Longhorns football as nations best Since arriving in Austin, Steve Sarkisian has turned the Texas Longhorns into one of the best football programs in the country. That is poised to continue with the top-ranked 2025 recruiting class in the country. The Longhorns have also been busy building for 2026 with 15 commits, two of whom are five-star prospects. Due to the on-field results, Sarkisian is one of the best coaches in the nation. Recently, the Longhorns head coach made an appearance on the '3rd and Longhorn' show and explained why he believes that the Forty Acres is the best place in the country to play college football. "I honestly think this is the best place in the country to come play football at," Sarkisian said. "I firmly believe that, and I think we have the stats, the nuances and the information to back that up," Sarkisian said. "Who's the one school that's gone to back-to-back college football playoffs, back-to-back semifinals? Who's the one school their first year in the SEC that went to the SEC Championship game? Who has the most draft picks in the NFL draft over the last two years? ... Who has last year signed the best class in the country, the year before that a top-three class in the country, the year before that a top-five recruiting class in the country?' Under Sarkisian's leadership, Texas has become a fixture in the College Football Playoff. Last year, they fell two wins short of a national title and are one of the early favorites as the regular season quickly approaches. While football is his specialty, Sarkisian also highlighted where Texas stands academically. "Name another school who's getting compared to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, but on the flip side is getting compared to Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama on the football field," Sarkisian said. While, in the end, Sarkisian's impact will be measured in wins and losses, he did not hold back when expressing his support for the school he calls home. The Longhorns' leader made it clear that the university has his support across several areas, beyond athletics.
