Best wheels for F1 25 – top budget and premium wheels and wheelbases

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Looking at a new wheel or wheelbase specifically for F1 25? Here's a few options to consider, from best Xbox, PS5 options to premium and budget.
If you're looking for a new wheel or wheelbase, specifically for F1 25 or formula racing, here are some options to consider.
With the 2025 Formula 1 season now at the halfway stage, and with F1 25 being well-received by players and critics alike since its release earlier this year, there's no better time to get on track in the virtual world. But, you're going to need a decent sim racing setup, which includes a wheel and a direct drive wheelbase, if you're at a decent level.
That's why we're rounding up the best wheels for F1 25, including everything from the best Xbox and PS5 options to premium and budget options. We've covered an awful lot of options below. Happy shopping!
Best Xbox wheelbase for F1 25
Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel
Thankfully, compatibility with Xbox is becoming much more common these days when it comes to sim racing equipment, and the best I've tested to date is the Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel. Priced at £999 / $999 / AU$1,799.95, it includes a wheelbase with 11Nm of torque, plus a wheel, and it's also compatible with PC!
In my Logitech G Pro review, I remarked that it's a "strong proposition, offering superb performance and excellent build quality", and I stand by that! It's not cheap, but it's the best option for Xbox players right now.
Best PS5 wheelbase for F1 25
Fanatec ClubSport DD+
PlayStation compatibility is getting better, but options are still few and far between in the sim racing hardware space. Thankfully, though, Fanatec's biggest and best wheelbase, the Fanatec ClubSport DD+, is compatible with PS5, PS4, and PC. It boasts 15Nm of torque, making it one of the more powerful wheelbases on the market. It is a superb piece of kit, and in my Fanatec ClubSport DD+ review, I said that it is a "stunning premium option for hardcore sim racers who want a dedicated F1-style setup."
It's not for beginners; it's for experienced sim racers who want to get the most out of their sim racing and chase realism and performance, regardless of price, as it will set you back €999.95, which roughly converts to £865 / $1168 / AU$1776.
Fanatec ClubSport DD+ - €999.95, roughly converts to £865 / $1168 / AU$1776
Best budget wheelbase for F1 25
Moza R9
Moza's entire product line is incredibly price-competitive, but the Moza R9 wheelbase is probably the best budget wheelbase on the entire market. Priced at just £319, or £359 for the V3 version, it delivers 9Nm of torque and is crafted with aviation-grade aluminium alloy. With the V3 version, you also get support for iRacing's 360Hz mode and a 21-bit magnetic encoder with a 2.09 million resolution.
In my Moza R9 review, I said it delivered "big performance in a small package, and at a bargain price," and that just about sums it up. It's a truly excellent deal, considering the performance on offer.
Best premium wheelbase for F1 25
Simagic Alpha Ultimate
If you want the very best performance, the Simagic Alpha Ultimate is a truly premium wheelbase, delivering a huge 23Nm of torque. Now, you might think this thing would cost the earth but, at a comparatively impressive price of just $899, which roughly converts to £665, it's one of the best deals in sim racing hardware right now.
Simagic Alpha Ultimate - $899 (roughly converts to £665 / AU$1,367)
Best budget wheel for F1 25
Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 Esports V2
Formula-style wheels are often some of the most premium sim racing wheels you can buy, sometimes costing well over £1000 (as you'll read about further on down). However, the Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 Esports V2 is a genuine steal at just £210 (rough conversion from $239.95 / $269.99 / AU$429.90).
Okay, it doesn't have any fancy features, like a big LCD screen, but considering the build quality and the fact that it's an officially licensed F1 and F1 Esports product, it's the best budget F1 25 wheel in my book, and with few compromises.
Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 Esports V2 - £210 (rough conversion from $239.95 / $269.99 / AU$429.90
Best premium wheel for F1 25
Asetek Invicta Formula
If you have money to burn and you want the very best sim racing wheel possible for F1 25, then I'd have to direct you towards the Asetek Invicta Formula, a custom, hand-built formula-style wheel that you can customise to your liking before buying.
There are 144 individual input options, a 4.3" LCD, 60Hz display, exchangeable handles, and it is made from forged and woven carbon. It's truly a work of art, but one that you can use to go sim racing. The price? Before any customisation, you're looking at €1,249.99, which roughly converts to £1,082 / $1,461. But if you want the best, that's the price to pay.
So, there you have it, those are some of the best options for F1 25 when it comes to wheelbase and wheels. See you out on track.

Xbox handheld prices accidentally leaked by Asus and they're super expensive

Microsoft's first range of Xbox handhelds look to be an expensive proposition, according to a leak from Asus itself. Last month's Xbox games showcase saw Microsoft officially announce two new handheld devices in collaboration with Asus, called the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. The handhelds are basically Xbox-branded variations on Asus's existing ROG Ally gaming devices, albeit with some improvements over the original models; namely a better processor (AMD Ryzen Z2 A) and improved battery life. Asus and Microsoft are yet to officially announce a price or release date for the ROG Xbox Ally, but it seems the former has been revealed early, and by a very reliable source. As spotted by Spanish gaming website 3DJuegos, the prices for the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X popped up in a localised Google search for the region, with two listings being pulled from an Asus store located in Barcelona. According to these listings, the cheaper ROG Xbox Ally will be priced at €599, while the ROG Xbox Ally X will be €899. The latter is the same price as the ROG Ally X in Europe, which launched last year, so if this price is true, the higher-end model will likely be £799 in the UK. That means the €599 price for the cheaper model would likely equate to £499, which is £100 less than the original ROG Ally. Although the original is currently on sale for £449 and, given it first launched in 2023, the release of the Xbox version may result in a blanket price cut to £499. These prices are yet to be confirmed but they line-up with a previous leak from insider eXtas1, although it remains to be seen if it could be priced higher in certain territories in the wake of US tariffs. More Trending As high as it is, the leaked price makes sense, as it doesn't undercut the current price for the ROG Ally X, which Asus wouldn't want to do. In comparison to the ROG Xbox Ally, the more expensive ROG Xbox Ally X comes with a better 'extreme' processor, 24GB over 16GB of memory, 1TB over 512GB of storage, improved battery life, and a Thunderbolt 4 compatible USB4 display port. According to previous leaks, Microsoft is looking to launch these devices in October, with pre-orders set to go live in August. This could mean we see some sort of announcement at Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany from 20-24 August. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Christian Horner successor is sailing Red Bull F1 into more choppy waters

The good ship Red Bull has a new captain at the helm – but it's still sailing the same choppy waters. Making long-serving skipper Christian Horner walk the plank as they did last week unburdens the team of the baggage that came with his presence. Always happy to play the pantomime villain, Horner was a divisive figure long before last year's scandal that rocked Formula 1. Even though he denied and was cleared of accusations of inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague, it was a PR disaster for both Horner and the company. Performance and the unwavering support of Red Bull's Thai majority owner Chalerm Yoovidhya helped to protect him, even from waves of attacks coming from the firm's Austrian CEOs and Max Verstappen's dad Jos. But now Red Bull are struggling, and Jos continues to spread rumours that his son is off to Mercedes, Horner has paid the price. He is succeeded by Laurent Mekies, the Frenchman who has been promoted from sister team Racing Bulls. There is a certain irony in that, given Horner brought the former Toro Rosso engineer back into the Red Bull family in 2023. Horner was put in charge of steering the struggling sister outfit back on course and hired Mekies as team principal from Ferrari, alongside new CEO Peter Bayer. Now, two years later, the 48-year-old finds himself in one of the top jobs in world motorsport. But it will not be an easy one for Mekies who will need to find his sea legs swiftly. And his first job will be to stop Verstappen defecting to sworn enemies Mercedes. The four-time F1 champion won't be making it five in a row this year with McLaren dominating and he won't want to spend much more time out of contention. Red Bull are making their own engines for the first time next year while Mercedes are veterans on that front and are hotly tipped to start the new F1 era next year strongly. Mekies needs to figure out quickly whether Verstappen truly intends to jump overboard, or whether all the speculation was just his dad making waves. Even if the Dutchman stays for 2026, he'll soon be looking elsewhere if that new engine isn't performing. Verstappen would love to complete his whole career with Red Bull, but not enough to stay on board a sinking ship. And Yuki Tsunoda's struggles show that, if they were to lose their star man, things could get really ugly at Red Bull. It's too late for the team to change course on their engine plans, and it may already be too late to ensure Verstappen will stay for the whole voyage. One thing that is for sure is that it won't be smooth sailing for Red Bull's new skipper. While predecessor Horner loved the spotlight, it is something Mekies, 48, will have to get used to. The Frenchman is a much different character, quiet and unassuming, an engineer at heart, and admitted last year being an F1 team principal was never his "dream". He has not the same level of ambition as Horner, which ended up being the Brit's downfall in part as his huge influence and Red Bull Racing's autonomy under his leadership annoyed the company leadership in Austria, including co-owner Mark Mateschitz and the head of Red Bull's sporting projects, former RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff. What will work in Loughborough University graduate Mekies' favour, as could the fact he already has a long-standing relationship with Jos Verstappen having worked with the Dutchman when he was a driver for minnows Arrows in 2001. One thing for sure is that he has never experienced the level of interest he will receive when he turns up trackside for his first race as Red Bull leader at the Belgian Grand Prix later this month. London's Walkie Talkie building transformed with stunning F1 projection

The dramatic visuals showcased 35 bespoke F1 car liveries, including four designed by famous faces such as presenter Natalie Pinkham, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, dancer Nadiya Bychkova, and broadcaster Roman Kemp London's famed Walkie Talkie building has been given a dazzling makeover with an impressive projection display, in honour of the nation's burgeoning passion for Formula 1. The spectacular visuals featured 35 custom F1 car liveries, including four created by well-known personalities such as presenter Natalie Pinkham, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, dancer Nadiya Bychkova, and broadcaster Roman Kemp. The eye-catching projection covered a whopping 4,250 square metres across the skyscraper. The stunt was in response to research from Formula 1 which revealed that around 16.7 million Brits – nearly a quarter of the population – now consider themselves big F1 fans. ‌ ‌ It showed a significant increase in the number of female viewers of the sport, with women now making up 41 percent of UK fans. The same study showed that F1 is attracting younger audiences as well – 42 percent of fans are under 35, a figure that has increased by 11 percentage points over the last seven years. The projection was brought to life in collaboration with sponsor Lenovo, demonstrating the blend of sport, creativity, and state-of-the-art technology. ‌ Louise Forbes from the tech firm expressed: "We're thrilled to unveil a world-first AI-driven projection experience on the iconic Fenchurch Building – bringing cutting-edge technology and bold creativity to the heart of London and igniting a new era of immersive marketing. "We're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible and partnering with Formula 1 is the perfect showcase for that spirit of innovation." ‌ This follows a record-breaking turnout of 500,000 fans at Silverstone earlier this month to witness the F1 spectacle at the British Grand Prix. The event is believed to contribute significantly to the £12bn value that Formula 1 brings to the UK economy. However, the sport's popularity isn't just growing at the races or on television. Additional research conducted by Formula 1 and Motorsport Network revealed that 61 percent of fans engage with F1 content daily – sourcing their fix through social media, YouTube, and Twitch. And it's not just the race days they're tuning in for; 71 percent state that the high performance and precision of the sport are key reasons they identify as fans. To further enhance fan engagement, Lenovo has introduced its #RaceToCreate web app, powered by Intel, which allows users to design their very own F1 car livery – from colours and patterns to personalised touches.
