Emily Ratajkowski endorses Zohran Mamdani in New York mayoral race
Emily Ratajkowski, model and activist, added her voice to the growing list of celebrity supporters backing Zohran Mamdani's bid for New York City mayor. On Tuesday, Ratajkowski posted a video on social media, wearing a "Hot Girls for Zohran" T-shirt while standing in front of Mamdani. In the video, she urged young voters to make their voices heard, emphasizing the importance of their votes in this election.
'This election is gonna be decided by young voters,' Ratajkowski stated, pointing out that New Yorkers' average age is 38. 'The last mayoral race was decided by just 7,000 voters. Your vote really matters.'
Mamdani, a 33-year-old New York State assemblymember, has seen his popularity rise significantly thanks to a strong social media campaign and endorsements from prominent progressives like Letitia James, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, and Jamaal Bowman. In recent polling, Mamdani is showing strong momentum, even surpassing former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in a June 23 ranked-choice voting simulation.
Mamdani, who advocates for progressive policies such as a citywide rent freeze, increased corporate taxes, and a free public bus system, has been the target of smear campaigns, particularly from Cuomo's camp, which has spent millions on anti-Mamdani ads. Despite these attacks, Mamdani remains firm in his stance against antisemitism, strongly refuting the accusations aimed at him.
With polls closing at 9 p.m. tonight, Mamdani's celebrity-backed campaign appears to be gaining widespread support among young New Yorkers.

Gavin Newsom sues Fox News for $787M over defamation in Trump National Guard call coverage
California Governor Gavin Newsom filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News on Friday, demanding $787 million in damages. The suit claims that host Jesse Watters falsely accused Newsom of lying about a phone call with Donald Trump related to the recent deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles. Watters' show aired an edited clip of Trump implying he spoke with Newsom on June 9 — the same day 700 U.S. Marines were sent to Los Angeles — and asked viewers, 'Why would Newsom lie and claim Trump never called him?' However, Fox simultaneously displayed a call log confirming the conversation occurred on June 7, as Newsom stated. The governor immediately denied Trump's claim on X that day. Newsom's legal team argues the broadcast deliberately distorted the timeline to harm his public credibility. 'If Fox News wants to lie to the American people on Donald Trump's behalf, it should face consequences — just like it did in the Dominion case,' Newsom told POLITICO. The lawsuit was filed in Delaware, where Fox is incorporated. Filed in Newsom's personal capacity, any awarded damages would be donated to anti-Trump causes. The legal claim also cites a violation of California's Unfair Competition Law. His attorneys — Mark Bankson and Michael Teter — say the governor is open to dropping the suit if Fox retracts its claims and Watters apologizes on air. In a letter to Fox, they mocked the network's credibility and referred to Trump's 'delusionary' statements. Newsom's tense relationship with conservative media has long been visible. He's frequently clashed with Fox hosts, even while appearing on the network, and maintains a love-hate dynamic with Trump — trading lawsuits and public barbs. This lawsuit is the latest escalation, signaling Newsom's readiness to combat disinformation ahead of any future presidential ambitions.

K-pop girl group aespa's latest single album, Dirty Work, has surpassed one million pre-orders as of late June 2025. This is their sixth consecutive release to reach this milestone, following previous albums including Girls, MY WORLD, Drama, Armageddon, and Whiplash. Dirty Work was released on June 27, 2025, and contains four tracks: the original song, a collaboration with American rapper Flo Milli, an English version, and an instrumental. The single features synth bass and melodic vocals, paired with lyrics described as assertive and cool in tone. The music video was filmed at a steel mill in South Chungcheong, South Korea, through a collaboration with Hyundai Steel. The production involved 225 extras and industrial machinery, reflecting aespa's 'iron taste' concept, which embraces a futuristic and industrial aesthetic. Additionally, aespa released a performance video for Dirty Work that was filmed entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro. This project showcases a combination of music and new technology. A limited edition version of the single, called the 'Dirty Crew Ring,' is scheduled for release on July 4, 2025.
