Camphill Blair Drummond Bike Safari is back for 2025.
On Saturday June 14, the gates to Blair Drummond Safari Park will be open for the special annual event - the 10th - which give people the chance to cycle or walk around the park at night - for a great cause.

This year, Camphill Blair Drummond is aiming to raise £6000 to help the community - which neighbours the safari park - to purchase adaptable bikes for its residents and students.

Camphill Blair Drummond is a unique community in central Scotland, that provides a safe home with meaningful work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
Its aim and approach is one of realising the potential of everyone involved in its community by recognising that everyone belongs, everyone is equal and everyone has something special to offer.
A spokesperson said: 'This year we are raising funds so we can purchase a range of adaptable bikes for our residents and students to use.

'Cycling is a great way for our residents and students to keep fit and active and these bikes will open that opportunity up to everyone in our community.'

Registration/tickets cost: adults £14.25 (including £1.75 Eventbrite fee); children (under 16) £8.83 (including £1.33 Eventbrite fee); family (two adults plus two children) £33.22 (including £3.22 Eventbrite fee). There will also be tickets available to purchase on the night (cash or card).
Registration starts at 5.30pm and the event starts at 6.30pm.

While everyone can finish in their own time, everyone needs to be out of the safari park by 8.30pm.
Snacks and drinks will be served in the Eastwood Building during the event, finishing for 9pm.
Those taking part should bring their own bike and safety helmet, plus clothes for all weathers.

The event is not a race and is suitable for all ages and abilities, but participants are asked to take care of other cyclists and walkers and cycle at a reasonable pace.
Tickets and information for the event can be purchased through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/.../camphill-blair-drummond.
If setting up an individual fundraising page you can do so via the JustGiving event page: https://www.justgiving.com/...

All you need to know about this year's Aberdeen Highland Games

Thousands will descend on Hazlehead Park for the return of the Aberdeen Highlands Games later this month. It will feature an array of traditional events, including the caber toss, tug o' war and hammer throw, together with field events and running. In addition, there are piping competitions and Highland dancing, with hundreds of competitors involved. It will hopefully be a triumphant return for the event, which had to be cancelled last year amid torrential rain, leading to disappointment for many. All being well, the Aberdeen Highland Games will take place on Sunday June 15, beginning at 10am. Here is all you need to know ahead of the event. Tickets are available to purchase from the Aberdeen City Council website via Eventbrite. There will be a free shuttle bus service from two locations – Union Terrace and Kingswells Park & Ride. The shuttle bus will stop at the turning circle near Hazlehead Park, with a five minute walk to the event entrance. In addition to the shuttle buses, other useful routes include the First Bus 11 service and the Stagecoach X17 service. Free parking is available at Hazlehead Park, but spaces are limited so anyone hoping to take advantage is advised to arrive early. Blue Badge holders should make themselves known to the car parking stewards upon arrival. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short lead at all times. Owners must take responsibility for their dog at all times and pick up any mess left behind. More than 80 stalls will be dotted around the park, both trade and charity, selling an array of food, drinks and craft items or offering services and advice. Food and drink stalls include: The Wee Brown Mouse Bakery, Carnoustie Distillery, Ellon Spirit Company, Pomology, Kilted Fudge Company and Allan's Chilli Products. Product and gift stalls include: Teeny Tartans, Mabel and Millie Candle Co, Tots Gear and the Sewing Bothy, Boni Be Boutique, Riverside Silver and La Bomba BC. Charity stalls offering advice and support will also be on site including the NSPCC, the Archie Foundation, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance and the RSPB. This year's main act will be popular children's character Mr Bloom, with musical performances from Aberdeen Music Service, The Rock Choir and Vienna. Runners take on Colchester's cancelled Hometown Half Marathon

Runners were left disappointed when they turned up to a half marathon they had paid to enter to find no signs of an organised Hometown Half Marathon, from Colchester to Brightlingsea in Essex, was due to take place on Sunday, but participant Abbi Lawrence said there were "no signs of any organisers" at the start Lawrence said she and 10 other runners decided to complete the route Simon Dickerson said the event had continued to be advertised online in error after its cancellation and that full refunds would be given. "There were obviously many upset runners who had prepared for a half marathon race," Ms Lawrence said she had paid £31.50 to take part in the race when she signed up in November and received a reminder email from the ticketing website Eventbrite, seen by the BBC, on Friday."It makes me wary of signing up to small races in the future, whereas I like to try and support smaller events," she added. Anthony Chatters said the blunder left him "so angry I ran my fastest ever trail half marathon".He added: "It's not really the money that bothers me, it's the training you do for it, the keeping your weekend free for it, the arranging child care so you can get there."His family made a makeshift finish line for him to cross when he reached the end of the 13.1 mile (21.1km) course.W6 & Co is the company that continued to promote the race on its website as recently as Mr Dickerson said the event went ahead as planned in 2023 and said it did not return this year "because hardly anyone was participating"."If anyone purchased a ticket we'll make sure it gets refunded," he organiser of this year's event on Eventbrite was listed as Eveson Row & Co, a company which Mr Dickerson was previously a director said it was not aware of the cancellation, adding participants can apply for a refund on its website.
