Several reports submitted to Paris prosecutor over Rachida Dati's alleged undeclared jewelry
If confirmed, the omission would put her in violation of rules set by the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HATVP), which monitors the financial declarations of public officials in France. «She will have to regularize the situation if this is true», said government spokesperson Sophie Primas.
The former Justice Minister, who is of Moroccan descent, denies any wrongdoing, saying she has «nothing to regularize». She has filed a complaint against journalist Laurent Léger, who led the investigation, accusing him of bias and of having political ties to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
Another report, this time from Socialist Senator Rémi Féraud, alleges that Dati failed to declare fees she received between 2010 and 2011 while serving as a Member of the European Parliament. Her lawyers argue that she «was never the lawyer for GDF Suez», the company named in the investigation.
These revelations come as Dati is already under judicial investigation in a separate case involving alleged corruption tied to her professional dealings with Carlos Ghosn, the former head of Renault-Nissan.
Despite mounting legal pressure, Dati maintains her position and continues to deny all accusations. The Paris prosecutor's office has not yet indicated what steps it may take in response to the reports.

Moroccan Police Seize Over 3 Tons of Cannabis Near Essaouira
Rabat – Moroccan police have foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs near the coastal city of Essaouira. The operation, which took place early Tuesday morning, was carried out by the regional police in Essaouira in coordination with Morocco's intelligence agency. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement that police seized three tonnes and 30 kilograms of cannabis resin (locally known as chira). The drugs were found packed in 80 bundles, hidden near the rural coastal area of Sidi Ishaq. During the operation, officers also found 29 plastic containers filled with 725 liters of fuel, likely intended to power boats used in smuggling activities. Police arrested three individuals suspected of being part of an international drug trafficking network. The suspects were caught with MAD 120,000 in cash, believed to be profits from illegal activities. Authorities have launched a full investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor, to uncover more details about the network and identify other individuals involved in the smuggling operation. The DGSN said it remains committed to fighting international drug trafficking and dismantling the criminal networks behind it. Tags: CannabisDrug bustessaouira

Several reports submitted to Paris prosecutor over Rachida Dati's alleged undeclared jewelry
French Culture Minister Rachida Dati is facing scrutiny following several reports submitted to the Paris prosecutor's office. At the center of the controversy: the alleged failure to declare valuable jewelry in her official asset disclosures. According to the newspaper Libération, Dati allegedly omitted 19 pieces of jewelry, valued at €420,000, which she is said to have owned since 2017. Morocco, UNECA Discuss Future African Economic Events in Addis Ababa
Morocco's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Mohamed Arrouchi held talks on Monday in Addis Ababa with a delegation from the UNECA led by Deputy Executive Secretary Antonio Pedro. This meeting took place within the framework of the Kingdom's presidency of the Bureau of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (CoM). It also forms part of the ongoing consultations between the Moroccan CoM Presidency and UNECA bodies, aimed at coordinating preparations for upcoming continental events. On this occasion, Arrouchi reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to continuing its efforts in favor of concerted African action, based on the principles of solidarity, efficiency, and results. It is worth recalling that Morocco was unanimously elected last March to the presidency of the 57th session of the UNECA and the CoM, an election that reflects the confidence of member states in the Kingdom's leadership and its commitment to dynamic and inclusive economic governance in Africa.
