Our first series for this week's Saturday Morning Webtoons is Gurei's Grand Ma . The slice-of-life comic follows Minh, a young man working in a flower shop. Life is anything but ordinary for this florist since he can see both the living and the dead. The series centers around Minh's everyday interactions with beings in both worlds. He is joined by his otherworldly Grandmother and a fun cast of unordinary characters.
Grand Ma is a series that we feel everyone should read at least once. It isn't overly long, but Gurei manages to pack quite the punch in the 50 chapters. The story shifts from comedy to gut-punching you with emotion in the blink of an eye. We also love how colorful and unique all of the otherworldly spirits are within the story. We spent time in each chapter just looking at all of the incredible characters.
Grand Ma is complete. Readers can find it on the official WEBTOON page.

Next thing you know, the two are on a bizarre roller-coaster adventure that may just lead to her best novel yet. Or will it all fall apart? Only the future knows and unfortunately Stan doesn't seem to be much help.
Sometimes, when we read a WEBTOON series, we don't want all the emotions, in-depth backstories, major character arcs, and suspense. Sometimes we just want a series that will have us laughing the whole way through. This is where 28th Century Superfan comes in. There is a plot, but that's not important. In fact, the entire plot is just Ji-eum trying to figure out what happens next on this wild ride. It's full of laughs and out-of-this-world antics, making it the perfect series when you don't want to think too hard.

I'm a Squid Game superfan and we need to talk about that Season 3 ending
*Warning: Contains major spoilers for Squid Game Season 3* To quote the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders (my other Netflix obsession), Squid Game is often imitated but never equalled. The twisty Korean thriller brought not only a totally unique aesthetic to viewers, but a gut-punching storyline that never unfolds in quite the way you'd expect. That was never more true than for Season 3 of the show which picks up after Season 2's bloody - and let's face it, doomed from the start - rebellion. In the newest episodes, Player 456 Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is a ghost of his former self until he finds himself responsible for the survival of Player 222 Jun-hee's (Jo Yuri) newborn baby. READ MORE: 'The fire happened right underneath our room, so it was one of the first to be destroyed. It's horrific' READ MORE: Sainsbury's urgently recalls two popular drinks from shelves amid safety fears While he couldn't save his relationship with his own daughter, Gi-hun sees an opportunity to make amends by ensuring this child makes it, especially given it was Jun-hee's last wish that he protected the baby at all costs before she fell to her death. The show's director made clear that the baby is symbolic of "humanity and conscience", with Gi-hun feeling like he's "looking at his own daughter" when holding her. For many viewers, it quickly became obvious that at some point Player 456 would have to make a terrible choice between his own survival and that of the baby. Lo and behold that's exactly what happens, but the way in which it unfolds is no less shocking. While you may be able to predict some of the twists in the show, the way in which they actually happen remains astounding and is testament to the quality of the writing. In the very last game in the Season 3, Sky Squid Game, Gi-hun and the baby's real father Myung-gi (Yim Si-wan) are the last two adults standing, meaning surely the baby could have at least one father figure post-games. No such luck: the pair fight and Myung-gi falls to his death before the round officially starts meaning just Gi-hun and the baby remain, with one player still needing to be eliminated. While the VIPs watching on think Gi-hun will sacrifice the baby, he chooses to end his own life and in the process confronts them and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) with his humanity. It is a poetic, dramatic and highly-emotional moment and from this point, we see a huge shift in Front Man as he sits uncomfortably with his newfound feelings as he torches the whole island to evade capture by the Coast Guard. A happy ending in the Squid Game universe is always bittersweet, but viewers definitely get more happiness than in previous seasons with a number of storylines satisfyingly concluded, including the baby becoming a newly-minted Squid Game winner and the revelation that Pink Guard No-eul's (Park Gyu-young) daughter may actually be alive after all. But before viewers breathe a sigh of relief that Player 456's sacrifice finally brought an end to the brutal games, we discover there's another branch. After returning Gi-hun's belongings to his family in LA, Front Man encounters a besuited Cate Blanchett playing ddakji in an alleyway, confirming the games were actually an international affair and bigger than we ever thought. Ultimately Player 456's sacrifice was for nothing and the misery and suffering perpetuates. Viewers that expected anything else missed the point. From where I'm standing, it was the perfect ending to a perfect show, and I'll certainly be lapping up every spin-off that comes next. All seasons of Squid Game are now streaming on Netflix

Posts target former South Korean first lady with misleadingly blurred image
The altered image was featured as the thumbnail of a YouTube Shorts video shared on June 23, 2025. The clip shows Kim holding a blurred object to her mouth, with superimposed Korean-language text that reads: "Kim Keon Hee chain-smoking in a hospital room" and "[She] continues to chain-smoke." The 25-second video does not contain any footage of Kim smoking. Instead, it features individuals repeating unverified claims that a hospital employee saw Kim smoking after she was admitted to the Asan Medical Center in Seoul on June 16 for what local media described as "severe depression" (archived here and here). Kim is currently under investigation for multiple alleged crimes, including a suspected stock-rigging scheme tied to Deutsch Motors, the receipt of a luxury Dior handbag, interference in candidate nominations ahead of the 2022 parliamentary by-elections, and influence-peddling in a major highway rerouting project (archived here and here). The same video was widely shared by multiple Facebook users critical of Kim. Comments left in the misleading posts indicated several users believed the image genuinely showed Kim lighting a cigarette. "Wonder who captured this video, they must have risked their life," one user wrote. Another said: "Caught red-handed, the hospital should kick her out." The image, however, is not from a hospital room -- nor does it show Kim smoking. A reverse image search on Google found the photo is a manipulated still from news footage published on YouTube on January 11, 2023 by the South Korean broadcaster YTN. In the original footage — timestamped at 1:10:57 — Kim is seen using chopsticks to eat "tteok", Korean rice cake, during a visit to a traditional market in Daegu (archived link). In the doctored version, the rice cake and chopsticks have been obscured and blurred to create the appearance of Kim holding a cigarette. Kim's visit to the market in Daegu at the time was widely reported by local news outlets, many of which carried similar footage of her eating rice cakes (archived here and here). Newsis, a Korean news agency, also captured a photo of Kim eating a rice cake from a similar angle as the YTN footage (archived link). AFP was unable to independently verify the claim that Kim was seen smoking inside the hospital. No images or video footage have emerged to support the allegation. Kim has frequently been the subject of misinformation online, which AFP has previously debunked. Days after an altered image of Kim Keon Hee circulated, supporters of the rival camp shared a doctored image of First Lady Kim Hea-kyung, falsely claiming it also showed her smoking (archived link). But a reverse image search on Google led to a YouTube video posted by South Korean broadcaster SBS on July 18, 2017 (archived link). The clip is from a 2017 reality TV show that featured the first couple when President Lee Jae-myung was still mayor of the northwestern city of Seongnam. In the original video, Kim Hea-kyung is holding chopsticks, with the tips lightly touching her mouth. But in the doctored image, her hand and the chopsticks were blurred. Her husband has been a frequent target of misinformation, which AFP has previously debunked here.
