GRANT HILL TO JOIN NBC SPORTS' NBA COVERAGE AS GAME ANALYST
STAMFORD, Conn. – June 24, 2025 – Grant Hill, a member of both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, will join NBC Sports' NBA coverage as a game analyst when the NBA returns to NBC and debuts on Peacock this fall.
Hill's illustrious 18-season NBA career includes countless accomplishments and accolades: a seven-time NBA All-Star, including four consecutive appearances from 1995-1998; five-time All-NBA selection, including First Team in 1997; NBA Co-Rookie of the Year in 1995; a gold medalist with Team USA at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics; three-time NBA Sportsmanship Award winner; and culminated his professional career with enshrinement in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. Throughout his career, Hill spent time with the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers.
Since retiring in 2013, Hill has made a successful transition to NBA and college basketball broadcasting, having called the past 10 Final Fours as an analyst for TNT Sports and CBS Sports' joint coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as well as high-profile regular season NBA games and playoff series. His versatility as a broadcaster extends to the studio, where he has spent time as a host and analyst on programs such as NBA TV's GameTime and NBA Inside Stuff. Hill will continue his role at TNT Sports, serving as a college basketball analyst for TNT Sports and CBS Sports' joint coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as well as TNT's coverage of Big East and Big 12 basketball.

Hill is fully entrenched within the game of basketball. In addition to his playing and broadcasting careers, he's currently USA Basketball's managing director of the U.S. Men's National Team, succeeding Jerry Colangelo in the position and helping Team USA earn a gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Hill is a part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks and co-owner of MLS' Orlando City SC and NWSL's Orlando Pride, and is also part of the Baltimore Orioles' ownership group.

The third overall pick by the Pistons in 1994, Hill had a storied college career at Duke, winning back-to-back national titles in 1991 and 1992 and becoming only the eighth player in Duke history to have his jersey number retired. He was an integral part of one of the most famous plays in college basketball history in the 1992 East Regional Final, heaving the inbounds pass three-quarters of the length of the court to his teammate, Christian Laettner, who hit a game-winning jump shot as time expired to send the Blue Devils to the Final Four. During Hill's time as a Blue Devil, he was named ACC Player of the Year in 1994 and was a two-time All-American. Hill was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014, Duke Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary men's basketball team in 2002. In a nod to its original era of NBA coverage from 1990-2002, NBC Sports is also bringing back Roundball Rock, one of the most iconic and beloved theme songs in sports history, and will use an AI-generated voice of the late Jim Fagan, a longtime NBC Sports narrator whose voice was synonymous with its NBA coverage and promotion.

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić turned heads earlier this week when his slimmed down, muscular image graced the cover of Men's Health. The Slovenian has been criticized in the past for his conditioning — and some say a factor in why he was dealt in one of the biggest trades in league history last season. Dončić, appearing Wednesday on 'TODAY,' said his team of trainers 'tried some new things' this offseason to improve his physique and quiet the critics. 'Different food, different practices,' he said. 'I actually gave up playing basketball for one month, which I've never done in my life. So it was kind of challenging, but it was all good.' Dončić, 26, is unquestionably one of the top players in the NBA. He is a five-time All-Star, earned rookie of the year honors in 2019 and in 2024 led the league in scoring with 33.9 points per game. But when he was dealt last February in one of the most shocking trades in NBA history — a blockbuster that sent, among others, Lakers big man Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks — Dončić's body became a topic of conversation. According to ESPN, 'the Mavs had major concerns about moving forward with Luka Dončić due to his constant conditioning issues and the looming commitment of another supermax contract extension this summer.' Dončić on Wednesday said he heard the criticism but did his best to ignore it. 'Honestly, I tried to not read much. Just tried to focus,' he said on 'TODAY.' 'I think I was still a pretty good basketball player back then, no matter what people say.' Dončić went on to average 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists a game with Los Angeles after the deal, but knew more needed to be done after the team was eliminated in the first round of the postseason by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He transitioned to a gluten-free, low-sugar diet and two-a-day workouts, completely transforming his body ahead of next season. Before opening night, a major decision looms: does he sign an extension with the Lakers to remain in L.A. for the foreseeable future? On August 2, Dončić is eligible to sign a new four-year deal worth $223 million. When asked about his intention on 'TODAY,' he brushed it off. 'I don't know what you're talking about,' he laughed.

NBA sets schedule for 2025-26 games in Europe, unveils plans for 2027, 2028
The NBA on Wednesday announced its regular-season European schedule for the 2025-26 season and unveiled plans to play regular-season season games in Paris, Berlin and Manchester in 2027 and 2028. The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic will play two games in Europe this season – in Berlin on Jan. 15, and in London on Jan. 18. "Announcing the next three season's regular-season games in Europe reflects the incredible momentum and appetite for NBA basketball in France, Germany, the UK and across the region," NBA managing director of Europe and Middle East George Aivazoglou said in a news release. "We look forward to welcoming the Grizzlies and the Magic to Berlin and London and to engaging fans, players and the local communities through the games and the surrounding events." The Magic's Franz and Mo Wagner are from Germany, and the Berlin game will the NBA's first regular-season game in the country. "To have the Orlando Magic and the NBA play a regular-season game in our hometown of Berlin means everything to us," the Wagner brothers said in a joint statement. "Growing up here, we dreamed of moments like this. It's a huge honor to represent Berlin and Germany and show how much the city and country love basketball. We hope we can inspire kids the way we were inspired watching games from afar." The NBA's push into the European market has been steady and unsurprising. As the league considers expansion of its North American-based league, it is also exploring the creation a new league based in Europe – with the idea of adding already existing franchises and creating franchises in underserved markets. "Just as the same as in American cities, we think there's an opportunity to serve fans in Europe," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said at the NBA Finals. "No knock on European basketball, because most of those international MVPs I just talked about are coming from Europe. There's really high-level basketball being played there. But we think there is an opportunity to better serve fans there. I view that as a form of expansion as well, and that's something we're also thinking hard about."
