The eagerly awaited Christopher Nolan film stars Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he journeys home following the Trojan War.
Saving Private Ryan megastar Matt popped into a Dalry restaurant in Edinburgh while on a break from filming.
The 54-year-old was snapped with staff at Locanda De Gusti in the capital as he popped in for lunch on Saturday, July 12.
Writing on Facebook, the restaurant wrote: "Casual Saturday in the office… just us, the team, and Matt Damon popping in for lunch with his family. No big deal.
"Spoiler alert: they were absolutely lovely, charming, and yes - somehow even more down to earth than you'd expect from someone who's been to Mars and saved Private Ryan.
"Safe to say the team's productivity went out the window for a minute, but hey - wouldn't you be distracted if Jason Bourne was asking for an Aperol Spritz!
"Good food, good vibes, and just your average day serving Hollywood superstar."
Excited fans flocked to the comments to react to the visit.
One said: "Wow! No wonder he visited Locanda where the best chef in Scotland cooks."
A second gushed: "This is fabulous, he has great taste, by far THE BEST RESTAURANT in Edinburgh."
James Bond villain and huge film star shocks staff as he buys Thai street food in Leeds - would you have recognised him?
A third added: "Absolutely amazing guys! So happy for you."
A fourth weighed in: "Just the best for Locanda."
Matt also took time to try out Scotland's only alpine coaster on the Pentland Hills in Midlothian.
Midlothian Council wrote on Facebook: "When you've starred in Jason Bourne and Ocean's 11, high-speed thrills are just part of the job.
"But even Oscar-winner Matt Damon couldn't resist the rush of our Alpine Coaster at Midlothian Snowsports Centre!
"Matt and his family took on our top attraction today — and let's just say, they enjoyed action-movie-worthy fun from start to finish!"
We recently told how Matt was hugely impressed by the food and service at a Scottish restaurant - saying it was among the best in the world.
Locals in a Scots town were also left stunned when he turned up at their local Motion Fitness gym.
Regulars did a double take as the Hollywood superstar wandered in sporting a beard.
Within seconds he was mobbed in the fishing port - with everyone wanted a snap taken with the acting legend.
And many were shocked to discover he was holding a Buckie Thistle shirt as well.

Transport planner John, 42, said he had arrived in Manchester ticketless but with a "master plan' after borrowing a yellow high vis vest and litter grabber from work. 'I took it with me as a last resort. 'They'd been lying around in one of the warehouses so I borrowed them for a bit,' said the transport planner from Alfreton, Derbyshire. 'I was quite lucky. 'It was just unbelievable really. 'From a security point of view, it was easy to get in and they didn't check for any tickets. 'I was acting very casual and when I saw the security guys I started picking up litter around them, saying 'Mind if I grab that mate' and I walked through. 'I did a half hour shift of picking, filling a bag with beer cans and plates. 'It was well worth it. Oasis kick off first Manchester homecoming gig after 16 years away 'I didn't get paid for the work but I got a free concert.' Amazingly, the entrance John decided to infiltrate was front standing, meaning he was just feet from Liam and Noel Gallagher on stage. Oasis kicked off their Live '25 tour in Cardiff last week before travelling to Manchester for five homecoming shows. Three further gigs are set to take place at Heaton Park this week - on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday - before Oasis travel to London to perform for five nights at Wembley Stadium.

'When I went out for a walk in the evening, doubled over in pain, I looked down and noticed that the manhole covers were a work of art in themselves. 'I took abstract photographs of them and even managed to sell them, so I kept going.' Peter, 63, from Barry, Glamorgan, runs Facebook group Manhole Covers Around the World, with 65,000 members. He visited Spain, France and Sri Lanka to search out designs. The artist's books include Heavy Metal and Manc Holes and Beyond, which he wrote with the Manchester Manhole Collective. The group launched the world's first manhole exhibition, Manc Holes and Beyond, which ran from April to June at Manchester Central Library. The exhibition proved such a success, celebrating the art and design of manhole covers, that he is now in talks with the National Lottery Heritage fund to move the manhole exhibition out of Manchester to tour the rest of the UK. Peter said: 'Manhole covers changed my life. When I start talking about manholes, people think I'm a nutter.' Other manhole cover fans include ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and historian Lucy Worsley. Pigeon football - Glasgow man's hilarious lunchtime hobby
