Those who once bowed before mafias now trying to divide society along caste lines: Adityanath slams Opposition
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday again targeted the opposition for doing 'caste-based' politics. Adityanath also reiterated the slogan, 'Batoge toh katoge, ek rahoge toh nek rahoge (Divided we fall).'
He was addressing an event here on the eve of 'Bhamashah Jayanti' and 'Vyapari Kalyan Diwas'.
The CM accused certain political elements of resorting to 'caste divisions' for survival, saying, 'Those who once bowed before mafias and mortgaged power are now trying to divide society along caste lines.' He added, 'Earlier, they extorted money in the name of jobs. Now, they are trying to divide society in the name of caste. That is why I say—'Batoge toh katoge, ek rahoge toh nek rahoge.''
He called upon society to rise above caste divisions and embrace the ideals of Bhamashah, the legendary figure known for his patriotism, sacrifice and support to Maharana Pratap.
Adityanath mentioned how Baroda's King Sayajirao Gaekwad awarded a scholarship to Dr BR Ambedkar for higher education abroad. 'Where was caste in these acts of support?'
He highlighted that in 2016, a trader was murdered in Lucknow and a jeweller was shot in Sultanpur — incidents that occurred under the then government, which 'provided shelter to criminals.' He said that under his administration, the security of both traders and women has been treated as paramount. 'We made it clear that anyone who endangers their safety will face strict consequences…,' he remarked. He added that when action was taken against miscreants, those who once thrived on caste-based politics began shedding crocodile tears.
The Chief Minister instructed the GST department to organise annual felicitation ceremonies for the top 10 GST-paying traders in the state capital and the top 10 in each district. He also announced that any GST-paying trader who suffers an accident will be given Rs 10 lakh in assistance from the government on this day.
He urged traders to join the government's efforts for environmental protection. 'River rejuvenation and plantation drives are ongoing in every district. Traders and business organisations should actively participate,' he urged.

Top Lucknow schools set to face stern action for denying EWS admissions under RTE
The Lucknow district administration and the education department are ready to crack the whip on some reputed private schools in the state capital, including City Montessori School, Seth MR Jaipuria and GD Goenka Public School, for denying admission to children from economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. For representation only (File) The administration has threatened to withdraw the no objection certificates (NOCs) given for recognition to these schools, which may also result in their disaffiliation from their respective boards as they were found guilty of denying admission to EWS students. District magistrate Vishak G said, 'Legal notices will be served to individual school principals for denying admission and their reply will be sought. If we are not satisfied with their reply, stern action will be taken against the schools.' A week ago, a five-year-old girl from Moradabad and her father, who is a driver by profession, had met chief minister Yogi Adityanath at Janata Darshan where they sought his intervention as a private school had refused to take the child. Within a few hours of the meeting, a private school in Moradabad gave admission to the child under RTE. The video of the girl interacting with the CM went viral. During a review meeting, the district magistrate gave clear instructions to the private schools to be prepared to face harsh action for denying admission to poor children. The meeting was held on the issue of admission of children of disadvantaged and weaker sections under Section 12-1-C of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009. 'Clear information should be obtained about the number of children admitted in the district and the remaining children who are deprived of admission, except the children who do not wish to take admission. A report regarding them should be presented at the earliest so that action against such schools can be taken,' a district administration official said. Bal Guide is another school found guilty of denying admission to EWS kids under RTE Act. Basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) Ram Pravesh said action will soon be initiated against the erring schools for denying admission to EWS kids. In the past, a few private schools did not even send their representatives to a meeting called by the administration. When contacted, Sarvesh Goel of GD Goenka Public School said, 'We have never denied admission to any student falling under this category provided they met the RTE norms.' City Montessori School manager Geeta Gandhi Kingdon and Seth MR Jaipuria principal Promini Chopra remained unresponsive to repeated calls. Anil Agarwal, president of Unaided Private School Association, UP, said, 'Most of the private schools are giving admissions to students under RTE but at the same time private schools also expect the government to reimburse us according to the provision given in section 12 (1C) of the RTE act. The amount of ₹ 450 per month for the last 11 years is too less and not acceptable to the schools.'

Plant more saplings on a single day than U.P.'s population: UP CM
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday launched the logo of 'Vriksharopan Maha Abhiyan 2025,' and announced an ambitious goal of planting more saplings on a single day than the total population of Uttar Pradesh. The CM announced that a total 35 crore saplings will be planted during Van Mahotsav—an initiative that surpasses even the total population of Uttar Pradesh— from July 1 to 7. Describing it as a major environmental event, he urged that preparations begin immediately, emphasising the need to spread the message, 'Plant trees, save trees'. According to officials, the forest department will plant 12.60 crore saplings, while other departments will account for 22.40 crore saplings. Detailed department-wise targets have been set, with ongoing work on rural and urban microplans and nodal officers appointed across all departments to ensure coordination. The CM said, 'The campaign, themed 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', represents a collective push to transition the state from heatwave to greenwave. Between 2017 and 2024, more than 204.92 crore saplings have been planted across the state. As per the Forest Survey of India, Dehradun, the state's green cover increased by 3 lakh acres between 2017 and 2023—a feat made possible through massive public participation.' To ensure supply, 52.43 crore saplings have been raised across 1,901 forest department nurseries, 146 horticulture department nurseries, 55 sericulture nurseries and 484 private nurseries. This diverse stock includes species suitable for industrial use, construction, fruit-bearing, fodder, and ornamental purposes. The CM directed that each department implement its action plan with utmost seriousness to guarantee the campaign's success. He stressed that large-scale plantation should take place in all schools covered under Project Alankar. Similarly, moringa and other shade-giving trees must be planted in all medical colleges and district hospitals, providing long-term benefits to patients and their families. He also called for dense plantations in all industrial units to enhance the green and healthy nature of the industrial environment. Additionally, priority planting of trees like neem, pakkad and peepal in all destitute cow shelters was emphasised. Yogi stressed that this year's campaign must place river revival at its core. Emphasising the positive impact of past conservation efforts, he said these gains must be built upon with renewed commitment. He instructed that extensive plantation drives be undertaken along both banks of rivers to improve water quality and enhance biodiversity. Where necessary, the channelisation of rivers should also be carried out. Additionally, all ponds within river catchment areas will be lined with plantations and simultaneously taken up for conservation and rejuvenation efforts. The CM encouraged the planting of fruit-bearing trees like mango, jamun and tamarind in public spaces to ensure both greenery and nutritional value with special emphasis on planting along expressways. Yogi directed that large-scale plantation be undertaken along the Gorakhpur Link, Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow, and Ganga Expressways to create a vibrant green belt between service lanes and main roads. He stressed that while plantation is vital, equal attention must be given to the protection and nurturing of saplings. The CM directed that every planted sapling be geo-tagged and proper fencing arrangements ensured for their safety. Yogi said this initiative is not merely a government programme, but a step towards securing a better and healthier future for the people of Uttar Pradesh. 'When every household plants a sapling and every citizen commits to its care, Uttar Pradesh will not only remain the most populous state, but will also emerge as the greenest and most environmentally conscious state in the country,' he added.

I offer my heartfelt salutations to Bhamashah Ji, the symbol of charity, righteousness, and patriotism! Apart from this, while taking a jibe at the opposition, the CM said, 'How long will people keep dividing the country for vote bank? They are the same people who used to bow down in front of the mafia every opportunity they got... These people used to mortgage their power to the mafia... They used to extort money in the name of jobs. Now, when their business of extortion has stopped, they are causing rifts in the name of caste...
