Previous govts ignored MSMEs, fuelled caste-based conflicts: Yogi

LUCKNOW Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday accused the previous governments of ignoring the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector while keeping the state trapped in caste-based conflicts and nepotism for political gains. Chief minister Yogi presents toolkit to a beneficiary of 'One District, One Product' scheme during the curtain raiser ceremony of the third edition of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) on the occasion of International MSME Day, at Lok Bhavan, in Lucknow, Friday. (PTI Photo) 'Before 2017, UP was known for riots, mafia, and was one of the most unsafe states for daughters and traders. Previous governments' neglect of entrepreneurs and promotion of caste-based conflicts hindered the growth of MSMEs in the state,' said the CM while speaking at a programme in Lucknow on International MSME Day. The CM said the double-engine (BJP-led) government (Centre and UP), over the past eight years, had pulled the state out of a crisis of identity and restored pride by reviving local heritage through initiatives like the 'One District One Product' (ODOP) scheme. He launched several key initiatives to promote entrepreneurship at the event organised at Lok Bhawan. Adityanath accused previous governments of promoting caste-based conflicts and running the state based on family politics, where each district was controlled by a different mafia. 'As a result, people faced an identity crisis,' he added. He also pointed out that despite being established in 1950, Uttar Pradesh never celebrated its Foundation Day until January 24, 2018. 'Earlier governments were too busy dividing society along caste lines and serving their own families instead of working for the state's development,' he remarked. At the event, the CM inaugurated the 'Youth Adda', an initiative by UPICON to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. This platform will allow youth to share their business ideas, get help with bank loans, and receive guidance from experienced mentors. The CM emphasized that his government did not discriminate based on caste, region, or language. 'We are committed to providing a platform to every talented youth,' he said. Adityanath also launched the CM Yuva mobile app, a digital platform designed to connect the youth with entrepreneurship opportunities. The app will provide access to training, loans, and information about government schemes without any discrimination. He said the app will ensure that no young person needs to run from one government office to another, as everything will be available in one place digitally. Common Facilitation Centre (CFC) projects were also inaugurated under the ODOP scheme in Bareilly and Moradabad. These projects will provide infrastructure support to local artisans and entrepreneurs, enabling them to enhance their productivity and competitiveness. 'ODOP has given each district's unique product a global platform. The scheme has provided equal opportunities to artisans and entrepreneurs from all castes and communities, helping products like Moradabad's brassware, Bhadohi's carpets, and Lucknow's chikankari gain international recognition,' said the CM. He pointed out that UP now has over 96 lakh MSME units employing more than two crore people across all communities. Adityanath emphasized that the government has provided a financial safety net of ₹ 5 lakh and social security to these units without any discrimination. With a 14% share in the country's MSME sector, UP is now a leading state in this domain, he added. He pointed out that before 2017, UP's exports hovered between ₹ 80,000 and ₹ 85,000 crore annually, which have now surged past ₹ 2 lakh crore. The state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has more than doubled from ₹ 12.75 lakh crore to ₹ 31 lakh crore in the same period, the CM said. He attributed this growth to the state's improved law and order situation and the government's focus on promoting entrepreneurship and industries. Adityanath mentioned that the per capita income in the state has increased from ₹ 46,000 to ₹ 1.20 lakh. This growth is a testament to the state's economic progress and the government's efforts to promote entrepreneurship and employment opportunities. Adityanath stated that the state's GDP has grown from ₹ 12.75 lakh crore to ₹ 31 lakh crore. This significant growth is a result of the government's policies and initiatives aimed at promoting economic development and entrepreneurship. He announced the third edition of the International Trade Show, scheduled to be held in Greater Noida from September 25 to 29. The show will provide a global platform for MSME products to reach international buyers and promote the state's economic growth. The CM also mentioned that the state government is working to obtain Geographical Indication (GI) tags for 77 products, with 75 new applications in progress. This initiative aims to protect the state's cultural heritage and promote its unique products. An MoU was signed to increase the number of GI tags for the state's unique products. The agreement was exchanged between commissioner of industries K Vijyendra Pandian and Dr Rajnikant of the Human Welfare Association.

(File) India's first private train: The Tejas Express, which was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in November last year, is India's first privately-operated train, that runs on the Lucknow-Delhi route. 'This is the country's first corporate-run train, and I congratulate the passengers embarking on this journey. Such initiatives should extend to other cities, promoting eco-friendly public transport,' Adityanath had said at the train's launch back in November 2024. The chief minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for their support, and described he launch of Tejas Express as a milestone in India's rail history. Rs 25 lakh insurance cover, delay compensation for passengers The Tejas Express, which is touted as the premium upgrade to the Shatabdi Express, has several unique firsts to its name. The train offers a Rs 25 lakh insurance cover for every traveler, and a compensation to passengers for delays, a first in Indian rail history. The compensation is calculated on an hourly basis. Tejas Express ticket price The fares for the Tejas Express are competitive, but subject to dynamic pricing. AC chair car seats cost Rs 1,280, while Rs 2,450 is charged for Executive Class chair seats. Comparatively, the Swarn Shatabdi charges Rs 970 for chair car, and Rs 1,935 for AC 1A, subject to similar dynamic pricing mechanisms. Tejas Express speed The Tejas Express is slightly faster than the Swarn Shatabdi, taking 6 hours and 15 minutes to arrive at its destination, while the latter takes 6 hours and 40 minutes to complete the journey, making the corporate-run train the quickest option for train travelers on the busy Lucknow-Delhi route. Tejas Express schedule The Tejas Express departs Lucknow at 6:10 AM and arrives in Delhi at 12:25 PM. The train begins its return journey from Delhi on the same day at 3:35 PM and arrives in Lucknow at 10:05 PM. There are only two halts for the Tejas Express on the Lucknow-Delhi. The train stops briefly at Kanpur, and in Ghaziabad, before resuming its journey. Chief Minister Adityanath said the schedule of Tejas Express was designed to offer a solution to travelers who wish to reach Delhi by afternoon and return to Lucknow the same night, in order to tackle high cost of air travel and lack of this type of train connectivity. The Tejas Express operates six days a week, with Tuesday being the only non-operational day.

PTI Image On the occasion of International MSME Day, Uttar Pradesh chief ministerYogi Adityanath on Friday inaugurated the 'Youth adda' and launched a mobile application 'CM Yuva' in an effort to promote entrepreneurship in the state and help the youth with employment. The UP CM congratulated the small and big entrepreneurs of the state and more than 2 crore employees in the Mirco, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) across the state, while also highlighting that the state is moving towards the idea of 'One District One Product' which has helped various areas to develop products on their own. "Perfume from Kannauj, hardware from Aliganj, Chikankari from Lucknow, Dholak of Amroha, Barsuri of Pilibhit, today people have got a chance to move forward everywhere, people have moved forward," CM Yogi said during his speech at the program. "If the government works without discrimination, then development comes fast in the state. We gave training and after training we are giving tool kits," he added. Talking about the CM Yuva app, the chief ministermentioned that more than 90 lakh MSME units have been started under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana (CM-Yuva), which also helps people get an interest-free loan upto Rs 5 lakh. According to the CM, more than 55,000 people have joined the scheme. "90 to 96 lakh MSME units have also been given security guarantee. We have started an app in the name of CM Yuva. If any youth wants to do business, then under this we are helping up to 5 lakhs without interest. Today 55 thousand youth are connected with it," Highlighting the transformation the state has gone through, he said that prior to 2017, that is before the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government was formed, UP was known for mafia and goons, hitting out at the Opposition Samajwadi Party for leaving the state behind. "Remember Uttar Pradesh before 2017, it was known for mafias and goons. It was the most dangerous state for entrepreneurs and women... The state never got recognition because of the family-oriented parties. For their own benefit, they left the state behind. People were not getting rooms in hotels even after paying money," the UP CM said. On Thursday, according to the CM's office, the state government is "set to take an initiative to make the transgender community self-reliant" by linking them to the CM Yuva Abhiyan, under which they will be given training and loan assistance based on skills. According to the official statement, this initiative will not only strengthen the transgender community financially but will also play a decisive role in connecting them with the mainstream of society.

No slogans, no arms during Kanwar, Muharram: Yogi

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials to ensure robust law and order, communal harmony, and appropriate public amenities during the upcoming festivals in Uttar Pradesh. The meeting involved extensive discussions with all police commissioners, divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and senior superintendents of police across the state. The chief minister issued clear instructions that all religious events must be conducted with devotion, safety, and social harmony, and the administrative machinery must work with full sensitivity and alertness. Adityanath noted that the sacred Hindu month of Shravan will be observed from July 11 to August 9, during which traditional Kanwar Yatra, Shravani Shivratri, Nag Panchami, and Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated. Additionally, Jagannath Rath Yatra is expected between June 27 and July 8, and Muharram between June 27 and July 7. 'This entire period is highly sensitive in terms of law and order, healthcare, sanitation, education, and disaster management. Hence, all related departments and district administrations must work with coordination and accountability,' Adityanath said, according to an official statement. The chief minister gave special directives for the peaceful and dignified conduct of the Kanwar Yatra, describing it as a symbol of faith, discipline, and enthusiasm. 'Districts bordering Uttarakhand, as well as Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Kashi, Barabanki, and Basti, must exercise special vigilance. Inter-state coordination must be maintained at all times. 'The sound levels of DJs, drums, and music along the yatra route must strictly follow prescribed norms. Loud and jarring sounds, provocative slogans, and route deviations from tradition will not be acceptable under any circumstances. The height of DJs used in tazia, rath, or kanwar processions must also remain within specified limits,' he said. The chief minister firmly stated that cutting down trees, removing slums, or displacing poor people for any procession is 'completely unacceptable'. He further emphasised that 'display of weapons' and 'politicisation of religious symbols' during religious events are disruptive to communal harmony and must be strictly prohibited. 'Entry of prohibited animals along the procession routes should be restricted. Social media should be closely monitored, and drone surveillance should be ensured wherever necessary. Prompt rebuttals and dissemination of accurate information must be carried out to counter fake news and rumours,' Adityanath said. As the Kanwar Yatra sees participation in large numbers, with potential threats of miscreants blending in under disguise, the chief minister directed all districts to stay alert. At the level of police stations, circles, and outposts, local administration must stay in constant dialogue with kanwar associations and conduct prior assessments of all arrangements, he said. Adityanath reiterated that while the religious sentiments of devotees are of utmost importance, no mischief-maker should be allowed any opportunity. Prioritising pilgrims' convenience, Adityanath instructed that non-vegetarian food or similar items should not be sold in the open along the kanwar routes. Cleanliness, sanitation, street lighting, drinking water, toilets, and basic medical facilities must be ensured on the yatra paths, he added. To curb overcharging of food items along the kanwar routes, prices must be fixed, and each vendor must display their name, as done in previous years, he said.
