Eight IPS officers in Chhattisgarh get new postings for anti-Maoist operations
The development comes after Akash Girepunje, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP-Konta division) in Sukma district, lost his life in a Maoist-planted IED blast on Monday (June 9).
All the eight transferred IPS officers, belonging to the 2021 batch, were posted as City Superintendents of Police (CSP) in different districts, a government official said, adding the State Home Department issued the transfer order on Tuesday (June 10).
As per the order, Surguja CSP Rohit Kumar Shah has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (anti-Maoist operations) in Sukma district, and CSP Jagdalpur (Bastar district) Udit Pushkar as ASP (anti-Maoist operations) in Dantewada district.
Korba CSP Ravindra Kumar Meena and Raipur CSP Aman Kumar Raman Kumar Jha have been posted as ASPs (anti-Maoist operations) Bijapur district.
CSP Jagdalpur Akash Shrishrimal will be ASP (anti-Maoist operations) Bhanupratappur in Kanker district, it said.
CSP Civil Lines Raipur Ajay Kumar and CSP Bilaspur Akshay Pramod Sabadra have been posted as ASPs (anti-Maoist operations) in Narayanpur district.
Besides, Raigarh CSP Akash Kumar Shukla has been posted as ASP (anti-Maoist operations), Special Task Force, Baghera in Durg district.
On Monday (June 9), ASP Girepunje was killed and two other police officers were injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Maoists exploded at a stone quarry near Dondra village in Sukma district.

In an unusual incident, Uttar Pradesh minister Asim Arun on Monday refused to use a vehicle fitted with an unauthorised blue beacon during his visit to Varanasi. This was not it, he even reported the matter to the police and sought appropriate action and asked for a challan. The minister of state (independent charge) for social welfare, a former IPS officer, declined to use the government-assigned Innova car after finding it fitted with a beacon light without due authorisation. In a letter to Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal, the minister wrote, 'Please be informed that on the occasion of my arrival in Varanasi on June 30, a vehicle was arranged for my use. Since the vehicle was fitted with an unauthorised light, I did not use it." 'Please ensure that a challan is issued against this vehicle for violating the rules by using an unauthorised beacon," he added attaching the vehicle details and a photo, reported news agency PTI. Arun was in Varanasi to attend the Anusuchit Jaati evam Janjaati Swabhimaan Sammelan (SC/ST Dignity Conference), organised by the Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Committee at Kabir Inter College Ground, Bhullanpur, on the 94th birth anniversary of social worker Narendra Kumar Shastri. ISKCON temple targeted in US: Over a dozen gunshots fired in suspected hate crime; India urges ‘prompt action'

The official page of BAPS for the United States posted the details of the desecration on X. Its public officer said, 'In the face of another Mandir desecration, this time in Chino Hills, CA, the Hindu community stands steadfast against hate... Our common humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion prevail.' The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) also raised it on X, connecting it to increasing anti-Hindu sentiments and stating that the vandalism came moments prior to the organised 'Khalistan referendum' in Los Angeles. While putting out other recent temple vandalism incidents since 2022 and demanding a probe, CoHNA said, 'Another Hindu Temple vandalised, this time the iconic BAPS temple in Chino Hills, CA... Not surprisingly, this happens as the day for a so-called 'Khalistan referendum' in LA draws close.' The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Sacramento, California, was also attacked last year in an act of vandalism on the night of September 25.
