
PM Modi inaugurates mega projects in Uttar Pradesh
The Prime Minister opened the section of the
Kanpur Metro Rail Project
connecting Chunniganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro Station, covering 14 stations. The project includes five underground stations that link important city areas and commercial hubs. Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the widening and strengthening works on G.T. Road.
In the energy sector, several projects were inaugurated to increase power generation and supply. A 660 MW extension of the
Panki Thermal Power Plant
in Kanpur, worth over ₹8,300 crore, was opened, along with three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project valued at ₹9,330 crore. The Prime Minister also inaugurated 132 kV substations at Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida, worth ₹320 crore.
Further developments include the inauguration of rail overbridges at Panki Power House Railway Crossing and Panki Dham Crossing on Panki Road in Kanpur. These structures will support the Panki Thermal Power Extension Project by facilitating coal and oil transport and easing traffic congestion.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 40 MLD tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan in Kanpur, which will enable the reuse of treated sewage water to promote water conservation.
Foundation stones laid for power and road projects
Foundation stones were laid for a 220 kV substation in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Gautam Buddh Nagar, to meet regional energy demands. The Prime Minister also laid foundation stones for road projects including the widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Marg in Kanpur Nagar District and a road connecting Narwal node on Prayagraj highway to Kanpur defence node under the defence corridor.

UPI revolution: Surpasses Visa with 650 million daily transactions; ‘leading the digital payment revolution!' says Amitabh Kant
UPI Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has officially surpassed Visa to become the world's leading real-time payment system, processing over 650 million transactions daily. Amitabh Kant, the CEO of Niti Aayog, hailed the milestone on X, posting, 'UPI surpasses Visa to become the world's leading real-time payment system, processing over 650 million transactions daily. ' He said that reaching this milestone in just 9 years shows the remarkable scale and pace of its growth. "From India to the world, UPI is leading the digital payment revolution!" In a seperate post, the G20 Sherpa further added, 'Phenomenal ! This has been one of the most notable achievement of PM Narendra Modi government. This has transformed lives of citizens.' UPI hit 650.26 million daily transactions, beating Visa's 639 million. Despite Visa's presence in over 200 countries, UPI's reach across just 7 nations, and its higher daily transaction count highlights its potential as a global digital payments force. According to a recent IMF Fintech Note titled 'Growing Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability', India now leads the world in faster payments. The IMF noteed that UPI has seen explosive growth since its 2016 launch, while traditional instruments like debit and credit cards have begun to see a decline in use. Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI is an instant inter-bank payment system designed for mobile platforms. CM Dhami vows to make Uttarakhand corruption free
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 13 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday participated in the felicitation ceremony organized by religious and social organizations in Balliwala, Dehradun on the efforts being made by the Chief Minister for 'corruption free Uttarakhand'. According to a release, on this occasion, the Chief Minister also administered the oath of corruption free Uttarakhand to everyone. The Chief Minister gave information about the steps taken towards making the state free from corruption and described the support of the public as the biggest strength of this campaign. He said that this 'Abhinandan Samaroh is not just an honor, but a celebration of realizing the dream of making Uttarakhand corruption free. This honor belongs to the 1.25 crore people of Uttarakhand, who are moving towards the development of the state with the values of honesty, transparency and accountability.' The Chief Minister said that the action being taken against corruption is 'not a personal victory, but it is a victory of public trust,' power of honesty and expectations of the youth. The state government has made extensive use of technology to ensure transparency under the policy of 'Zero Tolerance', which includes arrangements like online transfer process, CM Helpline 1905 for monitoring the examination system and public grievance redressal and 1064 for corruption complaints. The Chief Minister said that strict action was taken in cases like irregularities in recruitment examinations, corruption in transfer-posting and commission in schemes. More than 200 people involved in corruption have been sent to jail in the last three years. More than 24 thousand people have been provided government jobs in the state in the last four years. The Chief Minister said that the governance system has been strengthened in the state by implementing the Uniform Civil Code, making strict anti-copying laws, action against land jihad and love jihad and through anti-conversion and anti-riot laws. He said that these steps have proved that if there is strong will, any challenge can be faced successfully. The Chief Minister said that 'Operation Kalanemi' is being run to 'expose the real identity of impersonators in the state.' So far, more than 200 suspects have been arrested, including some Bangladeshi infiltrators. The Chief Minister appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about such elements. The Chief Minister said that adopting the mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Na khaunga, na khane doonga', the state government is committed to building a transparent, accountable and public welfare governance system. He said that continuous efforts are being made to make the state corruption free, culturally rich and the best state in the country. (ANI)
