WNBA encourages girls to ‘get buckets' with new ‘Line Em Up' campaign
In an effort to increase accessibility for young women interested in basketball and the WNBA, the league has announced an initiative to bring its official three-point line to courts in parks nationwide.

The initiative, dubbed 'Line 'Em Up,' will also include donations from the league to each participating park, according to a press release.
'The park has always been at the heart of basketball,' the Line 'Em Up website reads. 'The ultimate proving ground where anyone can step up and make a name for themselves. Well, almost anyone. For too long, park courts have been dominated by men, leaving women to have to fight for every inch of space on the court. While some broke through, too many have been left on the sidelines.
'And we're not about that.'
The site adds that Line 'Em Up will 'give girls and women undeniable equity at the park by painting the Fire Orange WNBA 3-point line on park courts across the country.'

The color orange has been synonymous with the WNBA's branding for years, seen everywhere from the iconic orange WNBA hoodies to the panels on the official basketballs. Seeing the orange on the three-point line in the park will give young women a clear signal that they are welcome.
'When a young girl walks onto that basketball court and sees the WNBA orange 3-point line, they know that they're being represented in a democratic community space where they once were not,' WNBA CMO Phil Cook told USA Today.
The WNBA three-point line is currently 22 feet and 1.75 inches from the basket — the same distance used in college and internationally. But many parks still use only the old college line (19 feet, 9 inches or more recently 20 feet, 9 inches) and the NBA line (23 feet, 9 inches).
As Cook explained, that's what makes it more than just an upgrade for local parks.

'The entire WNBA was not represented in this space,' he said. 'Dropping that line down now represents an entire league's identity and can drive participation and authenticity in this space.'

"They asked me my opinion on player tiers, and my thing is, if you bring something to the argument, bring something else," Parker said. "Can she get to player A, or player S, or whatever? Yes, she can. Right now, I don't know if she's alongside those players. And you're measuring her against players that have been in the league for years." Parker went on to fire back at the idea that she is a Reese hater. She sent a very clear message about that not being the case. "There's no hate on Angel Reese," she said. "I love her. She plays for the Chicago Sky. I saw her at my jersey retirement vs. LA. So it's nothing like that. I think it's so interesting in this female space, the need to have to explain some of these things." She spoke out last year about the WNBA legend and her words were very glowing. "She's the GOAT," Reese said. Caitlin Clark breaks own record with one-of-a-kind rookie card auction sell
Caitlin Clark continued her record-setting ways this week. As the Indiana Fever star guard continues to navigate back from a right groin injury, Clark had reason to smile on Thursday night. In the latest illustration of her superstardom, Clark reset her own off-the-court record. On Thursday, one of Clark's rookie cards sold for $660,000 on the Fanatics Collect auction site. It's by far the most ever paid for a women's sports card and it's nearly twice the amount garnered by the previous record holder, which was similarly a Clark rookie card. The new top seller is the 2024 Panini Instant Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Platinum Caitlin Clark Logowoman. It features a photo of Clark and a game-worn patch from her Fever uniform. The 1-of-1 numbered, autographed rookie card also has the written message "769 points and counting," referencing Clark's WNBA rookie record number of points scored. This record-setting card garnered 26 bids after extended bidding began at $336,000. It resets the record books after Clark's autographed 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Gold Vinyl 1/1 was auctioned by Goldin for a then-record $366,000. Before that, the record amount garnered by a women's sports card was the $266,400 paid three years ago for a signed 2003 Serena Williams card.
