Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu and Allisha Gray headline WNBA All-Star 3-point contest
She'll be joined by contest record holder Sabrina Ionescu, who last entered the contest in 2023 and hit 25 of her 27 shots in the final round, scoring 37 points. It was the most shots made in a 3-point contest in either the WNBA or NBA.

The Liberty's star guard wanted to make sure she was completely healthy before officially entering the contest. She said she'll be trying to break her own mark.
Clark's management team said earlier this year when she turned down competing in some fashion at NBA All-Star weekend that the young star wanted her first 3-point contest to be in Indianapolis at the WNBA weekend.
Allisha Gray, who made her own history last season, winning the 3-point and Skills Challenge, will try and defend her title in both competitions. She beat Jonquel Jones 22-21 to win the 3-point shootout. Gray beat Sophie Cunningham by 2 seconds to win the skills competition.
The Atlanta Dream star received $110,000 from Aflac as part of a partnership with the WNBPA. The 3-point contest winner this year will get an extra $5,000 from Aflac. Gray also got $2,575 from the league for each of her two victories.

Other participants in the 3-point contest are Washington rookie Sonia Citron and Los Angeles' Kelsey Plum.
The other players competing in the skills challenge will be New York's Natasha Cloud, Seattle's Skylar Diggins and Erica Wheeler, and Minnesota's Courtney Williams.

NASCAR says no Chicago Street Race next year, but it could return in 2027
CHICAGO (AP) — NASCAR is pressing pause on its Chicago Street Race, answering at least one major question about its schedule for next season. NASCAR raced on a street course in downtown Chicago on the first weekend in July each of the last three years. But it had a three-year contract with the city, leaving the future of the event in question. Writing to Mayor Brandon Johnson on Friday, race president Julie Giese said the plan is to explore the potential of a new event weekend with his office and other community leaders while also working on a more efficient course build and breakdown. 'Our goal is for the Chicago Street Race to return in 2027 with an event that further enhances the experience for residents and visitors alike, as we work together towards a new potential date, shorter build schedule, and additional tourism draws,' Giese wrote in her letter to Johnson. Giese said NASCAR is keeping its Chicago Street Race office and plans to continue its community partnerships. 'We deeply value our relationship with the City of Chicago and remain steadfast in our commitment to being a good neighbor and partner,' she said in the letter. NASCAR is replacing its Chicago stop with a street race in San Diego. A message was left Friday seeking comment from Johnson's office. NASCAR's Chicago weekend featured Xfinity and Cup Series races on a 12-turn, 2.2-mile course against the backdrop of Lake Michigan and Grant Park — to go along with a festival-like atmosphere with music and entertainment options. The goal was an event that appealed to both a new audience in one of NASCAR's most important regions and the most ardent racing fans. NASCAR used to race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, a 45-mile drive from downtown, but it pulled out after the 2019 season. Johnson's predecessor, Lori Lightfoot, was in charge when the three-year contract for the downtown weekend was finalized. It wasn't exactly a popular move in Chicago. Local businesses and residents were frustrated by the street closures in a heavily trafficked area for tourists in the summer. But organizers shrunk the construction schedule from 43 days in 2023 to 25 this year, winning over some of the race's critics. Drivers and their teams had some concerns about the course ahead of the first weekend. But the setup was widely praised by the time the third year rolled around — both the course and the ability to walk to the circuit from their downtown hotel. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson called Chicago 'probably my favorite event in NASCAR each year.' The racing in downtown Chicago has been dominated by Shane van Gisbergen, who won the Xfinity and Cup races this year from the pole. He also won in Chicago in his Cup debut in 2023 and last year's Xfinity Series race. 'I love the track,' he said after this year's Cup win. 'It's a cool place to come to. You feel a nice vibe. Texas Rangers add veteran 1B Rowdy Tellez to their roster after All-Star break
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Veteran first baseman Rowdy Tellez was added to the Texas Rangers roster and was in the lineup Friday night for their first game after the All-Star break. There was no corresponding move necessary before their game against Detroit because the Rangers had an open spot on their 26-man active roster, and their 40-man roster. First baseman Jake Burger was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday because of a left quad strain. The Rangers also Friday put outfielder Sam Haggerty on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Tuesday, with left ankle inflammation. They selected Cody Freeman, a fourth-round draft pick in 2019, from Triple-A Round Rock and he was looking to make his big league debut. He was hitting .315 with 12 homers in the minors. Texas is the fifth big league team for the 30-year-old Tellez. He signed with Seattle as a free agent in February, then hit .208 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs in 62 games before being designated for assignment and then released by the Mariners. He signed a minor league deal with Texas on July 5 and had been at Round Rock. 'They called me up, and try to make an impact in a positive way,' Tellez said. Tellez has a .232 average with 116 homers and 346 RBIs since his big league debut with Toronto in 2018. He has also played for Milwaukee and Pittsburgh. Burger, acquired in a trade from Miami in December, has hit .228 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs in 75 games. He is on the IL for the second time this season. ___ AP MLB:
