Reese was on the same All-Star roster as Clark, though she came off the bench and played eight fewer minutes. Fan voting will also determine the pool of the eight other starters, from whom the captains will select first, and the pool of 12 reserves, between whom the captains will subsequently select. Clark is in line to be a captain, leading all players with nearly 516,000 votes, per Michael Voepel of ESPN predicted on Friday, June 27, that she will remain in that spot despite having missed six of the team's 15 games to this point due to injury. "And defenses put so much emphasis on covering her that it opens up opportunities for her teammates. She was the early leader in fan voting, which is likely to hold up and put her in a captain's spot." Advertisement Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx is the second-leading vote-getter and in line for the second captain spot. Voepel and Kendra Andrews predicted the eight other All-Star starters, including five front court players, though Reese was noticeably absent from the list. She is currently 13th in fan voting with approximately 137,000 votes and highly likely to earn a spot as a reserve. However, Reese's struggles offensively this season -- 11.3 points per game on 38.5% shooting from the field -- have clearly set her back in the eyes of the fans, both in terms of her All-Star status and in direct comparisons to Clark.
