Crown is an opportunity to make a mark: Miss World Opal Suchata Chuangsri
Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri speaks exclusively to TNIE's Shreya Veronica amid the celebrations
Tell us about the moment you received the crown
It felt unreal... I'm still processing it. After waiting 72 years for our first crown, it's an incredible honour to bring it home. I know everyone back home is thrilled. I now have the opportunity as Miss World to travel and support important projects around the world. I'm excited to make an impact.
What were those final moments like before the announcement?
From the moment the top 20 were announced, I was excited. That excitement only grew as announcements continued. I was cheering for contestants from all continents. When it came down to the final two, it was the most intense moment, yet I felt calm. I knew my people were proud of me for reaching that far. It felt like a dream.
What do you plan to do as the 72nd Miss World?
I stood on stage with my own purpose. Now, I see this as a chance to work for the purposes of others as well. All the contestants had meaningful goals. As Miss World, I want to help bring those to life too.

'Churuli' controversy: Lijo Jose Pellissery withdraws FB post against Joju George
KOCHI: Two days after filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery and actor Joju George entered into a spat over the release of 2021 movie 'Churuli,' Lijo on Saturday, withdrew his Facebook post that claimed that the actor received Rs 5,90,000 as remuneration for the role. The controversy was triggered by Joju's statement in TNIE's 'Express Dialogues' programme aired on Sunday. In the interview, Joju said he hadn't received any remuneration for the film and had conveyed his displeasure to the producers. Responding to this, the director wrote on Facebook that Joju had received an amount of Rs 5,90,000 for acting for three days. 'Dear Joju, this clarification is in light of the emotional distress caused to the producers, who are our friends. The film, certified 'A', has not yet been released in theatres. The language used was examined by a committee, and a High Court verdict exists. None of us recall misleading Joju during the shoot,' Lijo wrote on Facebook. Actor Joju, on Thursday, had demanded that the agreement signed before taking up the role in 'Churuli' be made public.

Yukta Mookhey Takes Subtle Dig At Junior Priyanka Chopra, Says Appreciates Nothing About Her
New Delhi: Miss World 1999 titleholder Yukta Mookhey, who won the crown just a year before Priyanka Chopra, recently opened up about her 'junior' in an interview with Filmymantra Media. She reflected on Priyanka's pageant journey, noting that the global icon once sought her advice. 'She was the one taking advice from me,' Yukta said. 'She competed the year after me. I personally feel that I guided her in some ways, and even her parents were interested in speaking with mine.' When asked what she admired about Priyanka, Yukta replied bluntly: 'Nothing. Because she is junior to me.' She elaborated further: 'No. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. She was in the following year after me. I personally feel there were things I guided her on, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don't think she is the right person for you to ask me about at this moment.' Yukta also spoke about how Priyanka might have seen her as competition, contrasting that with her own experience. She recalled, 'I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and returned. She was very kind and said, 'You are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well. Think about going international.' Those are the kind of people I admire—those who don't see you as competition or a threat but as someone they might guide. That takes greatness.' She added, 'Sirf Miss India ya Miss World title milne se cheezen nahi hoti.' (Just winning the title of Miss India or Miss World doesn't make everything happen.) While both Yukta and Priyanka won Miss World titles, their career paths have been vastly different. Yukta acted in films like Pyaasa, Katputtli, and Memsahab but struggled to establish herself in the entertainment industry. Priyanka, on the other hand, rose to fame in Bollywood with acclaimed performances in Fashion, Barfi!, Don, and Bajirao Mastani, and has since gained global recognition. On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will next be seen in Heads of State, an action-comedy alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. She plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset. The film is set to release on Prime Video on July 2.
