Differing fortunes for Saints contingent in U21 Euros quarter-finals

SAINTS defender Ronnie Edwards is through to the semi-finals of the U21 Euros after the Young Lions beat Spain 3-1 on Saturday evening.
Elliot Anderson's 94th-minute penalty ensured Lee Carsley's side would face the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday, June 25.

Edwards, who enjoyed a successful loan with QPR during the second half of last season, is yet to play a minute in Slovakia.
Fellow defender CJ Egan-Riley is the only other outfield player who has remained on the bench in all four of England's games.
The defending Champions are without their captain, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, due to an ankle injury he suffered at the end of the season.
Saints star Mateus Fernandes did not progress to the final four and was denied a meeting with England as the Netherlands dumped out Portugal.
Fernandes candidly admitted he is "fed up with football" and is looking forward to a break after Portugal suffered a 1-0 defeat to 10-man Netherlands.

Their opponents played 70 minutes with 10 men. Fernandes, who created the most chances in the game (five), was withdrawn at 80 minutes.
The score was still 0-0 after Geovany Quenda missed a penalty in the first half. Fernandes was expectantly frustrated when speaking to Portuguese media after the game.
The Daily Echo Player of the Year previously admitted that he "misses the feeling of winning" after enduring a difficult season with Saints.
"It's a very difficult day for us, but that's football. We didn't create our chances. They end up going there once and managing to score.

"(It has been) a very exhausting season for me personally. I am completely fed up with football. Many defeats, a year of learning.
Learning from football, and I hope that in two years we (Portugal) can respond even better. It was up to us to be a bit creative, but we didn't manage it.
"We missed a penalty. A learning moment for everyone. The team and staff are disappointed. Now it's time to forget about football for a while and enjoy the holidays."
