Supercomputer delivers final Premier League table as Leeds United shown tough year ahead
The final Premier League table of the new season has been predicted by one of those 'supercomputers' we hear so much about. We're not sure exactly what's super about the computer, as they're all pretty intelligent by their nature. But we digress, what's important is something far cleverer than us has crunched the numbers, looked at the permutations and worked out how the season is going to play out. Advertisement There's no need for Leeds United supporters to turn up at Elland Road for the opening game against Everton then? Well, let's not go that far. These things are of course just statistical predictions and the reason we love sport is its unpredictable nature. What these predictions give us is a gauge of the odds and how each team's chances of success are rated. So let's get stuck into the latest predicted table, which has been published following the announcement of the league fixtures. READ MORE: Leeds United learn Mateus Fernandes transfer asking price as bargain £10m hijack emerges READ MORE: Leeds United given £22m transfer 'green light' to sign dream Daniel Farke target as promise made Advertisement Leeds as a newly-promoted side are expected to find things tough this season and the predicted table suggests that will be exactly the case, with a 19th placed finish in the final standings published by The Whites are tipped to win just eight games, drawing 10 and losing 20 for a final points total of 34, which in this league table would have them in 19th place, well clear of basement strugglers Sunderland but six points behind Burnley who are tipped to go down in 18th. It would mean the three promoted teams going straight back down again. The computer predicts Leeds will score 43 goals and concede 66, which would be the second most in the league next season, with only Sunderland and their four wins performing worse. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are again predicted for a bottom half finish, with Liverpool tipped to beat Manchester City to the league title, with Arsenal and then Aston Villa making up the top four.

Differing fortunes for Saints contingent in U21 Euros quarter-finals
SAINTS defender Ronnie Edwards is through to the semi-finals of the U21 Euros after the Young Lions beat Spain 3-1 on Saturday evening. Elliot Anderson's 94th-minute penalty ensured Lee Carsley's side would face the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday, June 25. Advertisement Edwards, who enjoyed a successful loan with QPR during the second half of last season, is yet to play a minute in Slovakia. Fellow defender CJ Egan-Riley is the only other outfield player who has remained on the bench in all four of England's games. The defending Champions are without their captain, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, due to an ankle injury he suffered at the end of the season. Saints star Mateus Fernandes did not progress to the final four and was denied a meeting with England as the Netherlands dumped out Portugal. Fernandes candidly admitted he is "fed up with football" and is looking forward to a break after Portugal suffered a 1-0 defeat to 10-man Netherlands. Advertisement Their opponents played 70 minutes with 10 men. Fernandes, who created the most chances in the game (five), was withdrawn at 80 minutes. The score was still 0-0 after Geovany Quenda missed a penalty in the first half. Fernandes was expectantly frustrated when speaking to Portuguese media after the game. The Daily Echo Player of the Year previously admitted that he "misses the feeling of winning" after enduring a difficult season with Saints. "It's a very difficult day for us, but that's football. We didn't create our chances. They end up going there once and managing to score. Advertisement "(It has been) a very exhausting season for me personally. I am completely fed up with football. Many defeats, a year of learning. Learning from football, and I hope that in two years we (Portugal) can respond even better. It was up to us to be a bit creative, but we didn't manage it. "We missed a penalty. A learning moment for everyone. The team and staff are disappointed. Now it's time to forget about football for a while and enjoy the holidays."

(Image: Stuart Martin) SAINTS midfielder Mateus Fernandes has progressed to the Under-21 European Championship with Portugal after they topped their group. Portugal pipped France to a first-place finish in Group C on goal difference following a 4-0 win over 10-man Georgia on Tuesday. Advertisement Fernandes played just 61 minutes in Trenčín, Slovakia, and was replaced minutes after seeing a yellow card with Portugal already 1-0 up. Fernandes started in his country's opening game 0-0 draw with France, bossing the midfield and making more tackles than any other player. Portugal will face either Ukraine (four points), Netherlands (one point) or Finland (one point) in the quarter-final, with second-place in Group D to be decided on Wednesday afternoon.
