Orbit College FC head coach Pogiso Makhoye has rubbished claims that the club is looking to sell its recently acquired Betway Premiership status.
Makhoye was speaking during an interview on Game On Sports on Radio 2000 when he addressed growing rumours linking relegated Cape Town City with a potential takeover of the club's topflight status.

Orbit College earned promotion to the Betway Premiership through the PSL promotion playoffs and are preparing for their debut season in South Africa's top division.
However, reports emerged suggesting that Cape Town City, who dropped to the National First Division, had tabled an offer to buy their way back into the premiership by acquiring Orbit's status.
'That's why we have (Monnapule) Saleng on loan. Why would we bring Saleng on loan if we are selling the status? There's no way,' he said.
'Orbit is not going anywhere, we have worked hard to promote the team for the past 15 years. We wanted to make sure that we have a professional team in the North West province.
'And we also wanted to show the whole country that there's talent in the TVET sector and now that we are here, we will never sell the status and the team not going anywhere.'

Kaizer Chiefs strongest XI with new signings this season
Kaizer Chiefs will open their 2025/26 Betway Premiership season against Stellenbosch on 10 August. Having returned from their pre-season in the Netherlands, Amakhosi have just over two weeks to prepare for the big clash. Unfortunately for them, they won't feature in the MTN8 competition after failing to finish in the top 8 last season. This weekend, they will play Asante Kotoko of Ghana in the Toyota Cup in Durban, where supporters will see new players in action for the first time on South African soil. Goalkeeper: Brandon Petersen The experienced keeper appears to be Nabi's first-choice keeper this season. His leadership has been vital, especially in the final of the Nedbank Cup, where Amakhosi were victorious. Defenders: Reeve Frosler (RB) The experienced defender is more likely to be Kaizer Chiefs' first choice as opposed to new signing Thabiso Monyane. Dillan Solomons could also be used as a sub rather than a starter. Miguel Inacio (CB) Miguel is set to be the new Amakhosi captain with the departure of Yusuf Maart. He has looked solid in big games, but his disciplinary record has to improve. On his day, the Angolan international is one of the best defenders in the PSL. Aden McCarthy (CB) The young centre-back who impressed during pre-season in the Netherlands. He has become a new favourite and expect him to bench Given Msimango when in the opening matches. With regular centre-back Rushwin Dortley still not fit, McCarthy will no doubt be Miguel's defensive partner. Bradley Cross (LB) Bradley Cross is more likely to start ahead of Nkanyiso Shinga at left-back. Shinga has looked vulnerable and it's more likely that Nasreddine Nabi will opt for Cross in the opening matches. Paseka Mako could be an option when he recovers from injury. Midfielders: Thabo Cele (CM) Thabo Cele is no doubt Kaizer Chiefs' best player. Since his arrival, he had looked like the leader the club needs. During pre-season, he was far the best player and looks like he is getting more comfortable in the midfield role alongside Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (AM) Ngcobo has excelled this pre-season and looks like a different player. If he can carry the form that he showed in Holland, he will be an asset for Amakhosi this season. Siphesihle Ndlovu (DM) He might be one of Kaizer Chiefs' surprise signings. Ex-player Reneilwe Letsholonyane has praised the former SuperSport United midfielder, saying he is the kind of player who will fight for every ball and show commitment. Forwards: Makabi Lilepo (LW) The Congolese attacker is one of the few standout players from last season. He will no doubt start most of Amakhosi's matches but it remains to be seen if he will show the same explosiveness he showed in his first three months at the club. Pule Mmodi (RW) Mmodi has been hot and cold for Kaizer Chiefs and perhaps this could finally be his season where he impresses. Flavio Silva (Str) Nabi has always preferred to have a target man, hence he signed Silva. If the 29-year-old striker can find form early in the season, Amakhosi could play him upfront while Lilepo, Mmodi and Ngcobo provide. Bafana midfield maestro says 'come get me' to Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with experienced Bafana midfielder Lebogang Phiri. 30-year-old Lebogang Phiri has had two stints with French side Guingamp, first signing for them in 2017 and rejoining them in 2024. Guingamp dropped out of Ligue 1 at the end of the 2018-2019 season after a six-year stay in the French top flight. Pitso Mosimane's son leaves Kaizer Chiefs for Italy Deep-lying playmaker Lebogang Phiri is a veteran of the European scene after stints in Denmark, France and Turkey. He's confirmed that giants Kaizer Chiefs are in touch. 'We had small talks with them, but I think it was the time they were going for a pre-season training camp abroad [in the Netherlands],' said Phiri via Soccer Beat . 'So, those [the negotiations] were stalled a bit. Hopefully, in the upcoming days, we will come up with something; if not, we will respect everybody who shows interest in me, whether it is locally or abroad,' the Johannesburg-born star concluded. Finally, some good news for Kaizer Chiefs fans Kaizer Motaung Jr has plenty to ponder as the 2025-2026 season rolls closer. Image: © Sydney Mahlangu Meanwhile, Chiefs believed that targets Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi were no longer contractually tied to the Mother City outfit Cape Town Spurs. This, after Spurs' relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the amateur ABC Motsepe League. Spurs are contesting Chiefs' claims in court. 22-year-old winger Velebayi made 23 appearances in the 2023-2024 Betway Premiership season. Striker Baartman, still just 19, made nine league appearances in the same season, scoring twice. Click for the story Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Jessica Motaung promises more big-name signings for Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs, led by marketing director Jessica Motaung, are set to make more high-profile signings and leverage their youth talent as they aim to improve their performance in the Betway Premiership this season. Picture: Ryan Wilkisky/BackpagePix While Kaizer Chiefs have already made a number of high-profile signings ahead of the new season, club marketing director Jessica Motaung has promised the Soweto Giants will still sign more big names in the coming months. Since the end of last season, Chiefs have already signed Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Flavio Silva, Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga and Siphesihle Ndlovu. Chiefs will not be involved in the opening weekend of local football action in the MTN8, but they will still have their work cut out from the outset in their new Betway Premiership campaign. With Chiefs having finished outside the top eight in the league the last two seasons, there are increased expectations that the Soweto Giants will produce a much better showing.
