Briscoe has good reason to fight Moxley, more matches added to Fyter Fest

Yahoo04-06-2025
AEW is serving a 'free PPV' in Fyter Fest on Wednesday, June 4 from Denver, CO. The special will act as a four-hour block of Dynamite and Collision airing all in the same night. The card is coming together quickly with Jon Moxley in a non-title bout, Toni Storm in tag team action, Kenny Omega in a four-way championship defense, and more.
Moxley has a fight for Fyter Fest. Mark Briscoe called that scallywag out. Briscoe was choked unconscious by Moxley in the recent six-man tag. When Briscoe went back home, his young son asked if daddy quit. Briscoe will never quit. Now, his kids are doubting him. Briscoe challenged Moxley to a match. This isn't about the AEW world title. This is about erasing those doubts in the eyes of his kids by kicking Mox's ass.

With Grand Slam Mexico coming soon, FTR have their eyes on the CMLL World Tag Team Championship. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler plan to use Atlantis Jr. and Templario as a warm-up.

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A new report has provided an update on the status of Orange Cassidy. The two-time AEW International Champion has been out of action since March. According to Fightful Select, there is currently no concrete timeline for his return. The report confirms the company fears Cassidy has sustained a torn pectoral muscle. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation AEW's Orange Cassidy Sidelined With Significant Injury Due to the nature of the injury, Cassidy will be out of action for a while. While he may be able to make odd appearances, he is not cleared to compete. His last match was in March, where he competed in a four-way against Ricochet, Mark Davis, and Mike Bailey. AEW President Tony Khan later confirmed the injury at the post-AEW Dynasty media scrum. "To lose wrestlers like Orange Cassidy and then Jay White, back-to-back weeks, those are two of the top stars in the company," Khan said at the time. Other AEW Stars Also Out Of Action Cassidy is one of several prominent AEW stars currently on the injured list. The company has been dealing with what Khan called an "injury bug." Other notable names currently out of action include Jay White, Juice Robinson, Buddy Matthews, and Eddie Kingston. There are no definitive return dates for these performers either. His character's lazy, hands-in-pockets demeanor hides explosive athleticism and technical skill, a persona he perfected on the independent circuit before joining AEW in 2019. Initially part of the Best Friends faction, Cassidy's immense popularity quickly propelled him into the main event picture, with major feuds against stars like Chris Jericho and PAC. His biggest accomplishment is being a two-time AEW International Champion. His first reign was particularly memorable, featuring a long series of successful title defenses that became a staple of AEW programming. He is currently on hiatus from the company, recovering from a significant injury he sustained in March 2025. Cassidy has yet to publicly comment on his status or injury. He is someone that AEW could really use these days, but with no other choice, they will have to look to other stars. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

The tantalizing AEW possibilities after MJF's eye-opening MLW return

MJF has always looked up 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, and 'Hot Rod' would have been proud of what the AEW star pulled off on Friday night. Even before we had all the answers, he's changing the questions. We wondered in this space last week why MJF ripped off the masks of luchadors. Two weeks ago, he committed what felt like the ultimate disrespect by purposely losing to Mistico by disqualification at AEW Grand Slam and then proceeded to take off his mask and wear it in the middle of Arena Mexico. Advertisement The larger endgame for this seemed unclear and left you wondering if just Mistico getting his revenge was good enough. Maybe they do a classic mask vs. hair match and we get to see a bald MJF.
