MLB legend Miguel Cabrera sells incredible lakefront mansion for $3.5m just days after revealing life-changing family news

Daily Mail11 hours ago
Baseball icon Miguel Cabrera is coming to the end of a rollercoaster week, after the sale of his home and a divorce from his wife were both settled within days of each other.
Cabrera, who earned $393million during an incredible career - mainly with the Detroit Tigers - only retired in 2023 at the age of 41 and still works for the team's front office.
Away from the world of baseball it has been a difficult few years, with TMZ reporting that his now ex-wife has been angling for a divorce for the past eight years.
Rosangel first filed papers to separate from her husband after 15 years of marriage back in 2017, but then changed her mind shortly after and withdrew the request.
Now, though, she has gone ahead with the split, calling their marriage 'irretrievably broken', and on June 18 a judge finalized the divorce in court.
The news of his marriage ending comes at the same time as the baseball legend has put his incredible lakefront mansion up for sale - 10 years after first buying it.

The 6 bedroom, 10 bathroom property in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, was listed for $3,485,000 on June 19 - a day after the divorce was finalized - and sold for the asking price just 13 days later, according to Realtor.
The home includes a pool, tennis courts and direct access to Lake St Clair - and was seemingly a steal for the price, given the speed with which it was sold.
Cabrera is a 12-time MLB All-Star, and won the World Series in his first season as a pro with the then-Florida Marlins.
He played for the Marlins for five seasons before moving on to Detroit, where he remained until his retirement 15 years later.
Incredibly, he is one of just three players in MLB history to have a career batting average above .300, 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. The other two players are Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.

My afternoon with Jennifer Aniston's mum... and why I think the Hollywood star's based her toughest role yet on her own painful childhood: CAROLINE GRAHAM

She has spent years trying to shrug off her image as ditzy girl-next-door Rachel from Friends – not to mention that famous hairstyle which spawned a million imitations. So when Jennifer Aniston announced that she will be starring in a new ten-part drama called I'm Glad My Mom Died, fans and critics assumed the actress is, finally, trying to be taken seriously in Hollywood. But just how seriously can be revealed today, because The Mail on Sunday understands Aniston is basing her performance in the Apple TV+ series – about a narcissistic stage mother who abuses her child star daughter – on her own painful childhood.

Back-to-back RBI doubles lift Orioles over Braves in 10 innings

July 5 - Ramon Laureano and Jacob Stallings delivered run-scoring doubles in the 10th inning to help the visiting Baltimore Orioles rally for three runs and defeat the Atlanta Braves 9-6 on Saturday. Laureano, who finished last season with the Braves, broke the tie with a double against reliever Rafael Montero (0-1) that scored automatic runner Jordan Westburg. After Ryan O'Hearn was intentionally walked, Stallings drove in both runners with a double to left. Felix Bautista (1-1) earned the win and Yennier Cano threw a perfect 10th to earn his first save. The Orioles improved to 3-3 in extra innings this season while Atlanta dropped to 6-3. Neither starter registered a decision. Atlanta's Aaron Bummer made the first start of his major league career, lasting 2 1/3 innings and allowing three runs on two hits -- both homers -- while striking out five. Baltimore starter Dean Kremer pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits while fanning three. The game saw four lead changes and three ties. The Braves scored in the first when Austin Riley clubbed a 429-foot homer to center, his 13th home run of the season. Baltimore smacked two homers in the third to take a 3-2 lead. Tyler O'Neill crushed a 445-foot solo shot, his third of the year and first since April 13, and Jordan Westburg followed with a 461-foot two-run shot for his ninth of the season. Atlanta tied the game in the third on Matt Olson's 17th home run of the year. The Orioles took a 5-3 lead in the fourth when Colton Cowser hit a 426-foot two-run homer off left-hander Dylan Dodd. It was Cowser's eighth homer and first against a southpaw. The Braves tied the game with two runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Olson and a run-scoring double by Riley. Olson was thrown out at the plate, but Baltimore catcher Gary Sanchez was injured and left the game the next inning with right knee pain. Atlanta loaded the bases against Scott Blewett in the sixth but only managed one run on Jurickson Profar's infield grounder to take a 6-5 lead. The Orioles tied the game in the seventh against Austin Cox on Jackson Holliday's RBI single. --Field Level Media

Trent Alexander-Arnold pays tribute to ‘amazing man' Diogo Jota

Trent Alexander-Arnold has described his former Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota as 'someone who lit up a room'. Liverpool forward Jota died along with his brother, Andre Silva, following a car accident in Spain on Thursday. Alexander-Arnold is currently at the Club World Cup in the United States with new side Real Madrid having left Anfield at the end of their title-winning 2024-25 season. Speaking after Real's quarter-final victory over Borussia Dortmund in New York on Saturday, Alexander-Arnold told DAZN: 'Some things are bigger than the game. 'It has been difficult but it's been very emotional, very heart-warming to see the footballing world uniting and come together to show their love and support to him and his family, and obviously his brother as well. 'So although it's been difficult, it's also been a nice showing out from everyone, all clubs, all people, uniting and showing love and support for what must be a mind-blowingly hard time for the family. 'I've been in and around him and his brother, his family, his amazing wife, his parents, his amazing three children. 'It's truly, truly heartbreaking to wake up to news like that. It's something that you would never, ever expect. 'He was a very close friend, someone who lit up a room when he was in it. I shared the dressing room (with him) for five years (and have) amazing memories on and off the pitch with him. 'It goes without saying he will never be forgotten by anyone. He will live long in all our memories for the amazing man and player he was.'
