LAT Aerospace news: In a significant update for the Indian aviation sector, a new startup is aiming to revolutionize regional air travel at a mass scale. In the recent development, LAT Aerospace, a new Indian aviation startup co-founded by Surobhi Das (former Zomato COO) and backed by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal (who invested $20 million out of its $50 million funding), is planning to build 12-24 seater STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft that can operate from small airstrips. Here are all the details you need to know about what LAT Aerospace is planning.
As per media reports, LAT Aerospace, under the leadership of Surabhi Das is planning to operate small planes from small airstrips where at affordable prices planes with a range of up to 1500 km will be used for targeting tier 2 and tier 3 cities. What is LAT Aerospace planning?
Readers should note that India has over 450 airstrips, but only 150 are in use, highlighting major untapped potential and LAT Aerospace wants to make air travel as easy and accessible using this available space.
'When we were flying all over India for Zomato, we were repeatedly stuck on the same question – why is regional air travel so difficult, expensive and low in India?', Surobhi said on LAT's journey.
However, the company must overcome regulatory, technical, and safety challenges to win public trust. It is currently hiring aerospace engineers and aviation experts as it scales up operations to meet its ambitious goals. Why is Zomato's Deepinder Goel facing new competition?
In a significant development and a bad news for Zomato's Deepinder Goel, the entry of ride-sharing companies into the online food delivery market in India pose early challenge to existing players like Zomato and Swiggy as in initial years, such companies can operate on much lower margins or at break-even, a report showed on Wednesday.
Rapido has announced its entry this month. ONDC was a similar risk in 2023 but it was not able to make a major dent in the duopoly structure of the food delivery industry, according to a note by HSBC Global Investment Research.

Narayana Murthy's Infosys sends warning emails to employees for..., says company...

Narayana Murthy's Infosys sends warning emails to employees for…, says company… Infosys, the Indian IT giant, which made news for laying off hundreds of its trainees, is again making headlines. This time, the IT company is in the news for sending personalised warning emails to its employees who are working long hours and have exceeded standard working hours, disobeying founder Narayana Murthy's advocacy for a 70-hour workweek. Why Infosys Sending Warning Emails To Employees? The Bengaluru-based IT firm has put in an automated monitoring system which automatically triggers alerts when any employee works more than 9 hours and 15 minutes in a day. The automated monitoring system is monitored by the HR department, which tracks every employee's working hours every month. The department sends warning emails to those employees who exceed prescribed durations. 'We must work for 9.15 hours a day for five days a week, and if we overshoot this while working remotely, it prompts a trigger,' The Economic Times quoted an employee as saying. Why Infosys Monitoring Remote Work Hours? Notably, the monitoring system was implemented after the hybrid working arrangements for the company's 323,500 employees. When the HR team detects an individual's long hours it sends comprehensive emails which include details about remote working days, total hours worked, and daily averages. Beginning in November 2023, the company mandated a minimum of ten days of in-office work per month for all employees. The emails highlight that employees should make a balance between health and work-life, which benefits both personal wellbeing and professional success. Are Health Concerns Driving A Policy Shift In The Indian It Sector? This initiative emerges amid growing concerns about young tech professionals facing health challenges, particularly cardiac issues attributed to irregular dietary and rest patterns. It is worth mentioning that the companies have taken the initiative following growing concerns about young professionals facing health challenges, specifically heart problems due to irregular diet and rest timings. The company issued new guidelines advocating for regular work breaks and open communication with managers about workload. This contrasts sharply with previous statements promoting 70-hour workweeks. The shift reflects a growing emphasis on employee well-being and sustainable productivity within the Indian IT sector.

Coimbatore industries in the EV sector expect problems because of magnet shortage

Coimbatore, with its emerging Electric Vehicle (EV) eco system, is expected to soon feel the impact of the shortage in availability of rare earth magnets that are used in the EVs. Ramesh Muthuramalingam, Managing Director of Alphacraft, said the factories involved in manufacturing components for EVs are yet to feel the impact. However, it is reported that Indian firms may run out of rare earth magnet stocks by the middle of this month. The EV suppliers in Coimbatore will then feel the ripple effects of the magnet shortage. The Micro, Small and Medium-scale companies here that make components for EVs are dependent on the larger magnet suppliers and any disruption upstream can potentially slow orders, shift production schedules, or raise costs. China decided to restrict export of the magnets in April this year. 'We have other sources as well. But, China dominates the field. Other sources such as the US, Australia, and Myanmar will either stop the supplies or ration it soon,' he said. Barathan Kuppusamy, Chief Executive Officer of Ozotec Automobiles, said some of the EV manufacturers are importing magnets that are already assembled in the stampings. But, there are issues now in this regard. Coimbatore District Small Industries Association treasurer P. Ponram said the companies involved in the EV sector do anticipate problems. 'However, the impact will be less,' he said. However, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Eco Dynaamic Equipments Vijayan Srinivasan, the companies in Coimbatore do not use the magnets in large volumes. Most of them use the CKDs and the requirement of the magnets is only in small volumes.

Despite the smoke, pedestrians continue walking and cars keep moving — a familiar urban sight for many New Yorkers but quite unexpected for international visitors. An on-screen text overlay in the clip reads: 'America's stinkiest city – New York, USA', underlining the vlogger's impression of the city's sanitation and street conditions.
