Smoke and movement at a busy crossing
In the short video, filmed at what appears to be a typical pedestrian crossing in New York City, white smoke is seen billowing out of manholes in the middle of the road. Despite the smoke, pedestrians continue walking and cars keep moving — a familiar urban sight for many New Yorkers but quite unexpected for international visitors.
An on-screen text overlay in the clip reads: 'America's stinkiest city – New York, USA', underlining the vlogger's impression of the city's sanitation and street conditions.

Reactions pour in from viewers
The video has prompted a range of reactions, from humour and sarcasm to commentary on perceived double standards. One user wrote, 'Kuch logo ko khushbu bahut acha lagega,' implying some might actually like the smell. Another remarked, 'Still they will blame India,' criticising what they see as an unfair media narrative about hygiene in developing nations.

Internet schools woman complaining about white blankets covering Swiss Alps
Image credits: Instagram/ The mood in the sweltering heat? A breezy summer vacation in the Swiss Alps. People who have been planning this exciting trip for months are excited to indulge in a plethora of snow adventures and take a deep, relaxing breath amidst the cold Alps. However, a woman's dreams of a dreamy holiday in the Swiss Alps resulted in a disheartening realisation when she found no snow and hot temperatures up in the famous peaks. Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of the Swiss Alps covered in white blankets and wrote "Europe walon ne mamoo bana diya pahar ki chooti pe sakht garmi and no baraf" She added how they completed a long journey to reach the top only to realise that the snow was covered by sheets and had even carried jackets which were of no use due to the hot weather all around, thus accusing Europeans of fooling people about the snowy and cold Swiss Alps. Netizens school woman about the Swiss Alps Image credits: Instagram/ While typically, netizens would have a field day adding their own problems and bad experiences in the comments, this time around the comments took a surprising turn. People in the comments section readily schooled the woman who was quick to be disappointed with the trip without understanding or enquiring about the reasons for the blankets covering the snow. A person shared that the sheets are called "reflective sheets or glacier blankets" and they are used to reflect sunlight and slow down snow and ice melting. The sheets are effective in reducing melting by 70% in covered areas. They added that they are there to protect the environment and since they are expensive they are not found in India. "Please stay informed instead of spreading wrong information," they wrote. Many others added the same information to enlighten the woman on the vital reason the mountains were covered with the sheets, adding that it is important as skiing is a prominent culture in Europe, especially Switzerland. Others also mocked her behaviour writing, "That's why education is important - so you can pretend to be a functioning member of society 😂" Global warming is melting the Swiss Alps? Image credits: Instagram/ Spanning more than 1,000 kilometres across 8 European countries, the Swiss Alps are Earth's largest and highest mountain range. Images comparing the area from 1984 to 2024, show changes in the length and width of the glaciers and a net loss of ice mass. According to news reports, the summer of 2024 melted the abundant snowfall received in the previous winter leading to the Swiss glaciers losing 2.5% of their volume. The increased melting of the glaciers not only threatens the freshwater supply but also increases the risk of landslides and floods and contributes to sea level rise.
