According to German outlet Bild, Werner has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Leipzig and won't be called upon to play for the Bundesliga club again.
Werner, who has one year remaining on his £8.6m-per-season contact, is thought to have been told he won't even be used in club friendlies if he chooses to see out his current deal.
The forward has reportedly been offered a two-and-a-half year deal with fellow Red Bull owned outfit New York Red Bulls in the MLS.
The offer, which would be worth around £3.5m-per-season, is understood to have been rejected by Werner and his camp.

Werner hasn't featured for Leipzig since December 2023, spending the last 18 months on loan in the Premier League with Spurs.
His time in North London failed to live up to expectations, with the 57-time German International scoring just three times in 41 appearances for Tottenham.
Coupled with his previous unsuccessful time with Chelsea, it's no surprise that it's been reported that no Premier League clubs are in for the versatile attacker as things stand.
Werner was criticised by former manager Ange Postecoglou while at Tottenham.

"When you've got 18-year-olds [playing], it's not acceptable to me and I said that to Timo. He's a senior German international.
"The moment we're in right now, it's not like we've got many options. I need everyone to at least be going out there trying to give the best of themselves.

Ronaldo's latest move met with brutal statement by Prem winner 'He's done'

Cristiano Ronaldo has committed his future to Al-Nassr for the next two years in a deal worth a stunning £492million, but Emmanuel Petit has slammed the move and claimed it shows he has fallen away from the top level Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has taken aim at Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming the Manchester United legend is "done at the highest level" after signing a new deal with Al-Nassr. Ronaldo's future was up in the air this summer after he teased "this chapter is over" at the end of the last Saudi Pro League season, leading to speculation he could link up with rivals Al-Hilal. ‌ But the 40-year-old quickly ended speculation over his future by putting pen to paper with the Middle East outfit over a new deal that will reportedly earn him around £492million. ‌ That makes him the top-earning athlete in the world and Ronaldo has shown he has no plans to slow down or retire in the immediate future - having helped Portugal win the Nations League last month. He has also continued to plunder an impressive amount of goals after netting 35 times in 41 games last season. However, Petit - who won the Premier League with Arsenal in 1998 - believes that Ronaldo will not return to the top level in Europe after committing his future to Al-Nassr. "Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he is done at the highest level with his new Saudi deal, but he confirmed that when he left Manchester United," Petit told Escapist Magazine. ‌ "Having said that, no one could have matched the crazy money he is being paid, but at 40 he is still playing well and performing for the national team. "I expect to see him at the World Cup next year but I'm not shocked he is staying in Saudi, no one could've matched those terms. They are crazy." ‌ Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr at the end of 2022 after an accrimonious departure from Manchester United, who he accused of "betraying" him by forcing him out of the club. The veteran star will go down as one of the greatest players to have played the game after netting a career total of 956 goals and he is now chasing 1,000. Ronaldo still appears to be hungrier than ever after signing another deal with Al-Nassr. When his new contract was announced, he wrote: "A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together." He said he received offers to play elsewhere this summer before ultimately committing his future to the Middle East, signing until 2027.

Portaluppi hopes Fluminense run gets Brazilian coaches more respect

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., July 8 (Reuters) - Fluminense's trip to the Club World Cup semi-final should net Brazilian coaches more respect, the club's manager Renato Portaluppi said on Tuesday, after their improbable deep run in the tournament ended in a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. The former striker, who steered the team to the 1995 Rio de Janeiro championship as a player, turned them from relegation battlers into tournament threats in the span of just three months as manager, and the club received a hero's sendoff from fans at MetLife Stadium. A critic of the influx of foreign coaches in Brazilian club football, Portaluppi hopes the strong showing will shine a light on talent among Brazilian managers . "I hope that not only the rest of the world but Brazil, as well, can look at Brazilian coaches in a different way and appreciate them a little more," said Portaluppi, known as Renato Gaucho. "I have nothing against coaches from other places in the world but people talk a lot about them but pay little attention to Brazilian coaches... This Club World Cup allowed for Brazilian coaches to be seen in a better light and I hope that continues to be the case." South American fans brought a party atmosphere to the Club World Cup and their teams produced some thrilling surprise results against their European counterparts, in a tournament that organisers hoped would showcase the sport's global talent. The final South American team in the tournament can leave with their heads held high, said Portaluppi, promising to maintain momentum for their fans back home. "Our fans are now more excited, they're happier," he said. "They will expect the same performance from us back in Brazil."

Moises Caicedo injury update as Chelsea reach Club World Cup final

Enzo Maresca has revealed that Moises Caicedo was in pain with his ankle injury during Chelsea's Club World Cup semi-final victory against Fluminense on Tuesday night. Two goals from £60 million summer signing Joao Pedro sealed a 2-0 win for Chelsea at the MetLife Stadium, and Maresca's side will now play either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in the Club World Cup final on Sunday. Caicedo, meanwhile, delivered another impressive performance at the heart of Chelsea's midfield but he may now miss the final after he suffered a twisted ankle in the closing stages of the victory against Fluminense. The Ecuador international was treated on the pitch and attempted to see out the final minute of the game, but the 23-year-old was clearly struggling to move and was seen with ice on his ankle after the full-time whistle. 'Moi twisted his ankle,' Maresca said after the game. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. More Trending 'But he felt that he could try, but he tried and he felt pain. 'Hopefully he can be fit on Sunday, we will see.' In a separate interview with DAZN, Maresca said: 'I told him that he has to do everything to be on the pitch on Sunday so we will see.' In a post on Instagram after Chelsea's win, Caicedo appeared to be optimistic over his chances of being available as he wrote: 'See you on Sunday, Blues.'
