Steve Harmison makes bold claim after India's loss to England; says 'Virat Kohli would have won the game comfortably…'

In the third Test at Lord's, India faced a manageable target of 193 runs. Despite a promising start, the batting lineup struggled and was bundled out for 170, losing by a close margin of 22 runs. This defeat was more painful as India had controlled significant portions of the match.
Steve Harmison believes Virat Kohli's presence could have altered the outcome.
'For me, India has to start believing. This is where the likes of Virat Kohli were unbelievable, he told ESPNcricinfo.
"In a fourth innings chase, he goes and wins the game comfortably. He would have won that game comfortably at Lord's,' he added.
'India has scored more hundreds, more top-order runs, and more new ball wickets, but England has got a knack of finding a way to win,' Harmison noted.
Virat Kohli, who announced his Test retirement earlier this year, has played a significant role in fourth-innings situations. With 1102 runs in 32 innings at an average of 42.38, including two centuries and seven half-centuries, he has consistently delivered under pressure.
England's success in the series stems from their ability to seize crucial moments. Whether through a crucial bowling spell or a game-changing batting partnership, they have consistently found ways to shift momentum.
Harmison highlighted this, stating, 'England has got a knack of finding a way to win. Finding a way of creating an event throughout a session to change the course of the game.'
The fourth Test, scheduled to begin on July 23, 2025, at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, is a make-or-break moment for India. Trailing 2-1, they must win to keep the series alive heading into the final Test. The team, led by Shubman Gill, is determined to bounce back and replicate their Edgbaston heroics.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Gill accused the English batters of deliberately wasting time by coming 90 seconds late to the crease and then calling the physio to slow the game further. 'Yes, a lot of people have been talking about it. So, let me just clear the air once and for all. The English batsmen on that day, they had 7 minutes of play left. They were 90 seconds late to come to the crease. Not 10, not 20, 90 seconds late. Yes, most of the teams, they use this,' Gill said. 'Just leading up to that event, a lot of things that we thought should not have happened, it had happened. And it's not, I wouldn't say it was something that I am very proud of. 'We had no intention of doing that whatsoever. But you are playing a game, you are playing to win and there are a lot of emotions involved. And when you see there are things happening that should not happen, sometimes the emotions come out of nowhere.' Shubman Gill also gave an update on the Indian team combination for the must-win fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. 'Akash Deep is unavailable, so is Arshdeep, but we have good players in the team to pick twenty wickets. It is not ideal to have different bowlers but I was prepared,' he said. On the possibility of a debut for young pacer Anshul Kamboj, Gill said the decision will be made on the morning of the match. 'He is very close to making his debut. Batter Karun Nair is set to return to his home state of Karnataka for the upcoming domestic season, having obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA). Karun, who is currently with the Indian Test team in England, spent two fruitful seasons with Vidarbha. The 33-year-old made runs aplenty in Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy title run earlier this year. Lakshya Sen to train at French National training centre INSEP ahead of World Championships
Beleaguered Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen will reach Paris early ahead of the World Championships in August and train at their National Centre, INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise & Performance). Sen hasn't quite made the quarterfinals on the circuit in recent months, but believes that his preparation has been steadfast after emerging from a tough few months, dealing with shoulder and back injuries. He is hopeful of continuing a good tryst with Paris where he made the bronze playoffs at the 2024 Olympics. 'Overall I've done good work recently. Few more weeks of good training and preparation before we get to the World Championship,' he told BWF. 'It's one of the good, more suited stadiums to my game. I'm extra motivated for the World Championship. It's a good place to play, good conditions, I've done well before. So ya hoping I continue a good run there. Important next few months,' he said, adding, 'Also going bit early to France to adjust to time zone. Will train at INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise & Performance)' Sen has sent his entry for the Macau Open but there is no clarity if he will play or skip the tournament preparing for the Worlds where he has a bronze from 2021. He rued his missed opportunities against Li Shifeng in the opener at Chiba Open, but was happy with how he was moving around the court. 'Ya it was a good match. I was playing well. Starting from the beginning had a good start. Second set I didn't start very well. But got my rhythm back. I had two match points in my hand. But unlucky to not close in second set,' Sen tolf BWF. 'Third set I didn't get a good start and then it was really tough to get back into the game. And he was also quite solid. After winning second set he was much more confident. And I had to put the shuttle down in the third set. But I had my chances in the second. Overall a little disappointed but looking forward to next tournament,' he said. Sen was especially happy with his speed. 'Physically I was 100 percent today. But past few months have been tough so trying to get back to full training. Today's match was a good example of…gave me good confidence that I can play again at the highest level with that speed again the ..past few months struggled a bit, in moving that well on the court. Happy I could move just build on that,' he added.
