MasterChef fans voice major complaint about Callum Hann's return
While it's been promoted on the show that this is Callum's third time competing in the MasterChef kitchen, many fans have pointed out that this isn't exactly the case. He actually competed on and won MasterChef Australia All-Stars in 2012, raising $20,000 for his chosen charity, Cancer Council Australia.

MasterChef 2025: All the returning contestants hoping to win $250,000 prize
The short-lived series aired for three weeks during the Olympics and featured several returning contestants from the first three seasons of the show, including winners Julie Goodwin and Kate Bracks. The first half of the competition saw the cast divided into teams to raise money, while they competed separately in the second half to crown 'the best of the best'.
Interestingly, Callum also competed against season one runner-up Poh Ling Yeow, who is now tasting his food as a judge on MasterChef.
Many fans have taken to social media following this week's premiere to question why the show has chosen to 'purposely ignore' the fact that Callum won MasterChef Australia All-Stars.
'They really seem to pretend that season doesn't exist as far as accolades go,' one person wrote, while another added, 'When they said none of them had ever won, I'd wondered if I'd dreamt the thing up'.
Callum recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that even though he didn't win any prize money on the charity season, he believes his win should still be counted in the show's legacy.
'I'd like to consider it a real stint because I spent three months of my life filming it, so it certainly felt very real to me,' he remarked. 'Whilst the money you were winning for that was for charity, we were a competitive bunch. So I don't think any of the contestants there were doing a half job because they were like, 'Oh, I'm not winning any money'. I think we were all trying our hardest still.'
Callum added that it felt 'pretty special' to win that season of the show because he was competing against people he loved watching on TV.
'I really admired Poh and Julie and Justine Schofield when I watched them on season one, so then to be cooking with and against those guys, it was a hell of a lot of fun,' he shared. 'And to sort of come out on top there, I think it sort of gave me the confidence to go on and keep expanding my businesses and have that 'world is my oyster' kind of attitude.'
Although Callum's win on MasterChef Australia All-Stars is undisputed, some viewers have argued that it shouldn't be considered an official season of the reality show.
'While he won it, it was also for charity,' one fan commented, followed by someone else who said, 'This is the correct answer. It was not a competition, it was a fundraiser'.

'It wasn't really a 'season' at the same scale as what they're competing in, and thus doesn't add anything noteworthy to the narrative,' a different user replied, with another adding, 'It is treated like a spin-off, the same as Professionals and Celebrity'.
MasterChef Australia has produced five spin-off series since launching in 2009: Celebrity MasterChef Australia, Junior MasterChef Australia, MasterChef Australia All-Stars, MasterChef Australia: The Professionals, and Desserts Masters.

Astrology has grown into a $3 billion online industry, and it's only getting bigger
Something in the stars has drawn CBS News to Danielle Polgar, an astrological counselor in Santa Fe, New Mexico. "There's a collective curiosity about astrology, and I think what it can really facilitate is helping people feel like they're part of something bigger than themselves," she said. In a stressful world, astrology now feels bigger than ever. In the U.S., it's an online industry worth an estimated $3 billion, and that's expected to triple over the next five years, according to Allied Market Research. Co-Star, one of the most popular astrology apps, reports 30 million registered users. Asked how she responds to skeptics, Polgar told CBS News that astrology is "our first tool to understand our relationship with whatever this place is." "You're still an Aquarius, even if you're like 'I don't buy into that,'" she said. But for many, the imponderable mystery in the stars is astrology itself. Astrophysicist Montana Williams stargazes from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in New Mexico, the premier facility of its type in the world. It features 27 radio antennae, each 10 stories tall, helping solve the mysteries and wonders of space. Williams tracks the origins of the universe. But all she knows about astrology is that she was born a Leo. "I don't really know what astrology is, to be honest," Williams told CBS News. "I will say that I am a bit biased, that I don't entirely believe in it." Astrology isn't the science that astrophysics is — not even close — but there's certainly a market for mystical services. Roughly 30% of American adults say at least once a year they consult horoscopes, tarot cards or fortune tellers, Pew Research Center found. One of them, Erika McAuliffe, said Polgar's chart readings give her life insight that feels heaven-sent. She said she uses astrology as "a tool for self-discovery." "I think it shows a side of yourself that maybe you're not necessarily thinking about," McAuliffe said. Polgar noted: "Clarity, confidence, courage. I think those are the three things that people are seeking."

Banijay Entertainment Posts $1.6 Billion Half-Year Revenue, Driven by Streaming and Live Experiences
Banijay Entertainment, the European production-distribution giant behind 'Peaky Blinders' and 'Big Brother,' has posted half-year revenue of €1.42 billion ($1.6 billion), up 3% from 2024. The content production and distribution division, which is part of Banijay Group, unveiled an adjusted EBITDA holding strong at €208 million, a 6% year-on increase. Profitability was also up 14.6% from 2024. The company also added an additional 5,000 hours of content to its library. Business from streamers continued to bolster numbers. Banijay revealed that the share of production and distribution revenue coming from streamers skyrocketed during the first half of 2025, accounting for 20% of its revenue, compared with 17% during the first half of 2024. Live experiences were another significant source of growth for Banijay Entertainment during the first six months of the year, bringing in €173 million ($198 million), a 15.4% year-on increase. The company highlighted the production of major sports ceremonies, such as the UEFA Champions League final kickoff show — featuring a performance by Linkin Park (pictured above) — and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Club World Cup held in the U.S. Banijay Entertainment anticipates a strong second half of 2025 for live events with major showdeliveries in the pipeline at Balich Wonder Studio and bolt-on acquisitions at The Independents, the global marketing and communications group for luxury and lifestyle brands. 'Banijay Entertainment, with Banijay Live, continues to illustrate a robust business model, as demonstrated by these latest H1 results,' said Banijay Entertainment CEO Marco Bassetti, who will receive this year's Variety Vanguard Award at Mipcom. 'Year-on-year, we have significantly increased our activities with streamers, maintained significant investment in creativity to bolster our competitive market advantage, and accelerated our digital transformation efforts,' Bassetti continued. The executive argued that Banijay Entertainment's capacity to 'embrace new technologies' will be key to allow the company to be more efficient and 'further amplify the value of … catalogue, and enhance [its] presence on YouTube specifically.' Bassetti also said Banijay Entertainment will be 'diversifying [its] revenue streams in areas like sport,' along with developing its digital footprint to continue 'preparing the group for the future, cementing our house as the number one for talent, IP and creative innovation.' François Riahi, Banijay Group CEO, said the 'content production and distribution' division pulled 'solid revenue growth from scaling our high-performing IP with global streaming platforms. The company's first quarter results had shown that unscripted shows and iconic brands such as 'Big Brother' and 'Temptation Island' drove a 5% rise in Banijay Entertainment. 'The second half of the year will be stronger, as usual given the seasonality,' Riahi said. Besides live sports event production, Banijay Entertainment expects further business from immersive live experiences (notably via Lotchi, the newly-acquired company behind the popular 'Luminiscence' shows) and the further expansion of The Independents. 'We are on track to deliver our 2025 guidance and have started our new three-year strategic plan periodon the right foot as we strive to build an unrivaled content powerhouse in the entertainment industry,' concluded Riahi. Banijay is faring better in the first half of the year than another European media giant, ITV, which posted a 31% drop in group adjusted EBITA to £146 million ($198 million), and 3% drop in group revenue down to £1.85 billion ($2.51 billion).
