Businesses get ‘stability and continuity' under re-elected Albanese government

News.com.au11-05-2025
Orica Chief Executive Sanjeev Gandhi says businesses receive 'stability and continuity' from a re-elected Albanese government.
One of the world's largest explosive manufacturers, Orica, said net profit rose 40 per cent to $250 million.
'What businesses always want is stability and continuity,' Mr Gandhi told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
'With the government getting re-elected, that's what we are getting, so that is extremely positive.
'This is a huge opportunity to put into place clear measures for all the policies that were put forward in the first term, as an example, the Future Made in Australia.'

Victorian members to push Labor over AUKUS deal

Rank-and-file Labor members are preparing to launch a blistering attack on United States president Donald Trump and demand the Albanese government withdraw from the AUKUS pact when the party gathers for its Victorian state conference early next month. It will be the first major Labor conference since the re-election of Anthony Albanese in May and will add to pressure on the government over AUKUS, as it waits on the outcome of a US review.

Liberal Party's death ‘greatly exaggerated' and Tasmania is a ‘bright spot'

Sky News host Peta Credlin has paraphrased a Mark Twain quote to say reports of the Liberal Party's death are 'greatly exaggerated' and Tasmania is 'certainly a bright spot'. 'To be honest, reviewing themselves around and around in circles doesn't help. Yes, a serious campaign review is absolutely needed, but multiple reviews at a federal level, as well as all the state ones they're doing, risk being an excuse for inertia,' Ms Credlin said. 'With obsessions like gender quotas and US-style primaries to choose the new round of candidates, it can easily look as if the Liberals are only focused on internals of the party and what impacts them as politicians, rather than what's facing Australian families and small businesses.'
