Reserved auto services begin at city airport with new rules
Until now, autorickshaws were not permitted to enter the airport premises.
Under the new arrangement, drivers may enter through the old gate, drop off passengers at the designated multi-parking zone and exit through the same gate. The service is regulated with a set of new rules – all drivers must follow a prescribed dress code, carry ID cards verified by their association and have their full details recorded with both the association and airport authorities.
The service was inaugurated by Rajkumar Jha, general secretary of the All India Road Transport Workers Federation (Bihar), who highlighted the need for evolving with the times. "Drivers serving airport routes will receive English language training to better assist foreign travellers and non-Hindi speaking passengers from other states. A prepaid booth will be set up soon. Until then, drivers will carry placards to attract passengers," he said.

Two killed after SUV falls in river from damaged bridge
Indore: Two persons were killed and two others were injured after an SUV plunged in the Kali Sindh river from a narrow and dilapidated old bridge on Indore-Betul national highway on Saturday. The vehicle reached the bridge where the railing was broken in parts and the driver lost control while trying to avoid a truck coming from the opposite direction, following which the car plunged into the river below, said Dewas ASP Harinarayan Batham. Hundreds of villagers rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation immediately. They pulled the car to the bank using ropes and then broke open the windows to rescue the occupants. It took much time to rescue the ones seated in the front. While the two passengers seated at the back were rescued by locals who broke open the car's windows, the two sitting in the front — who had their seatbelts on — died in the accident. Locals said this was the fourth accident at the same spot in the last two months. Despite repeated complaints, no repairs have been made to the bridge, which lacks protective railing or signage. Residents said they have been demanding a safer alternative or urgent upgrades, but the administration has failed to act. In all the previous accidents, too, rescue operations were carried out by villagers. Police said the bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination and their families have been informed.

RSRTC floats tender for third time to buy electric buses
Jaipur: The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has issued a tender for the third time to procure electric vehicle buses. The corporation plans to acquire 300 electric buses which are to be deployed on routes within the National Capital Region (NCR). Officials said that electric buses will be taken on contract, and bus operators will be paid up to Rs 60 per km. Before this, tenders were invited in Dec 2024 and May 2025. Officials added that the tender for 300 buses is two-fold: one with the infrastructure for charging the buses and the second without charging infrastructure. The corporation aims to procure a total of 900 EVs, which will replace the existing diesel-based fleet used for these routes. For the initial 300 buses, RSRTC has floated the tender, said officials. "Due to the two-fold nature of the tender, we have not received bids as expected till now. The tender has been floated for the 300 EVs that were announced in the state budget. By next month, we'll be able to understand what the response of the bidders is," said a senior official. "The PM E-Drive, which is the scheme of the Department of Heavy Industries, is primarily for intra-city operations, but we have requested the central govt to allow us to procure buses under this scheme due to the requirements, explaining our situation," said Shubhra Singh, RSRTC chairperson.
