Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi seeks answers on Pahalgam intel lapse, abrupt end to operations
New Delhi: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday launched a sharp attack on the government in Lok Sabha over the Pahalgam terror strike, questioning how the terrorists reached Baisaran valley on April 22 and why they remained at large even 100 days later. Opening the Opposition's debate on Operation Sindoor, Gogoi demanded answers on several issues - including US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of brokering an India-Pakistan ceasefire, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan's admission that India suffered air losses. He also criticised the government's decision to halt the operation after Pakistan's climbdown, asking why India didn't reclaim territory under Pakistani occupation. "The entire country, including the Opposition, stood behind PM Modi. Then suddenly, on May 10, there was a ceasefire. Why? If Pakistan was ready to surrender, why did we stop? Who did we surrender to? Donald Trump has said 26 times that he forced both countries to announce a ceasefire," Gogoi slammed the government's failure to track down the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack. "It's been 100 days, but the five terrorists are still free. You have drones, Pegasus, satellites, CRPF, BSF, CISF, and even the Defence Minister visited - but you still couldn't catch them. It took an hour for an ambulance to reach Baisaran. The Army came on foot." Gogoi said. Holding Union home minister Amit Shah accountable, Gogoi said the Centre could not hide behind Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. "Who takes responsibility? The LG? No - it's the Union Home Minister who must be accountable. And the government blaming tour operators for taking people to Baisaran is cowardly," he said. Gogoi also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting the site after returning from Saudi Arabia. "Instead of going to Pahalgam, the PM went to Bihar and delivered an election speech. It was Rahul Gandhi who visited the victims," he added.

‘Outstanding': PM Modi praises S Jaishankar Operation Sindoor speech in Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaped praises on foreign minister S Jaishankar for his elaborate speech on Operation Sindoor in Parliament on Monday and India's foreign policy that, he said, united the world against terrorism in response to the terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. PM Modi said that S Jaishankar's Parliament speech on Operation Sindoor highlighted how the world heard India's perspective on terrorism.(File) Also read: Jaishankar slams Opposition during Op Sindoor debate, asks 'Which one of you…' In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi shared the YouTube link of Jaishankar's Parliament speech and wrote, 'India's foreign policy has united the entire world against terrorism in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar ji spoke in detail about this in the Lok Sabha.' In another post, he called Jaishankar's speech 'outstanding' and said that it highlighted how the world heard India's perspective on terrorism. 'The speech by EAM Dr. Jaishankar Ji was outstanding. He highlighted how the world has clearly heard India's perspective on fighting the menace of terrorism through Operation Sindoor,' he wrote. What S Jaishankar said in Parliament While answering questions about the foreign support during Operation Sindoor in retaliation to Pahalgam terror attack, S Jaishankar said on Monday underlined in Parliament the statements given by international groupings like the Quad and BRICS in the aftermath of the attack, wherein they condemned the act of terrorism. Also read: Operation Sindoor created new normal for fighting terror from Pak: Jaishankar He said that the Quad had given a statement saying it 'unequivocally condemns all acts of terrorism or violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism.' He added that BRICS, which includes countries such as China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Iran and Egypt, 'also condemned the attack, reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism.' Jaishankar also said that India's military response to the Pahalgam attack has created a 'new normal' for fighting cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. This, he said, includes confining bilateral talks to terrorism and not giving in to nuclear blackmail. He added that India has a new five-point approach, which makes it clear that 'terror and good neighbourliness cannot co-exist [and] blood and water cannot flow together'.

"Rahul-Occupied Congress": BJP's Anurag Thakur's Sharp Attack In Lok Sabha
New Delhi: BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi during a debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, claiming India fought a "two-and-a-half front war" with the "half front" being the "Rahul-Occupied Congress." "India fought on two and a half fronts, everyone knows about the two fronts, but in this half front, there is also a Rahul Occupied Congress," Anurag Thakur said, adding, "Look at the social media, in the last two months, Rahul Occupied Congress has made disgusting and insulting cartoons against the Prime Minister and the Indian Occupied Congress called the Army chief a roadside goon. Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the entire country and the Indian Army..." Anurag Thakur went on to target Rahul Gandhi personally, calling him the "poster boy" of Pakistani propaganda. "Let me tell you, the leader you talk about, twice the people of the country did not even give him enough votes to become the leader of the opposition... He has become LoB from LoP (Leader of Opposition). LoB stands for Leader Opposing Bharat. Opposing India and the Prime Minister is his agenda. I don't know whether he becomes the poster boy of Congress or not, but he has become the poster boy of Pakistan's propaganda", he said. While referring to Congress MP P Chidambaram's recent remarks on Operation Sindoor, Anurag Thakur accused the party of questioning India's intelligence inputs. "Today, discussion on Operation Sindoor was to take place in the House, but there was a competition among the leaders of Congress as to who should come forward as the closest friend and dearest to Pakistan. In the interview given by a former Home Minister yesterday, he said- If Pakistan did not have a hand in this, how can you say that the terrorists came from Pakistan?... Sometimes they call it Hindu terrorism, sometimes they come to defend Pakistan," he said. The former Union Minister also accused the Congress of aligning with Pakistan's interests, saying, "There are so many big advocates of Pakistan in the Congress party today that Pakistan defends itself later, and Congress leaders come to defend them. The Pakistani army and the Pakistani government are using the brothers of Lashkar-e-Rahul in their favour... Although it is INC, but from their statements and actions, it looks like it has become Islamabad National Congress..." Anurag Thakur also criticized the Opposition for their response to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's statement in the House. "Of all the opposition MPs who have spoken here till now, not even one MP has stood up and said that in this terrorist attack, people were asked about his religion and asked to recite Kalma, their pants were removed and then they were killed. Tell me what pain did the Opposition MPs have in saying this? When the Defence Minister was discussing the achievements of the Indian Army, there was no applause, no one was thumping the table..." he said. The Lok Sabha on Monday afternoon began discussion on 'India's strong, successful and decisive Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The debate was initiated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
