Mumbai shocker: From raccoons and black foxes to hyraxes, 45 animals seized from passenger at airport
According to officials, the passenger was intercepted shortly after landing. Upon checking his luggage, Customs officers found raccoons, black foxes, iguanas, and hyraxes (small animals that look like rabbits). Sadly, many of the animals were already dead due to suffocation caused by the poor conditions in which they were being smuggled.
Wildlife experts from the Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) were called in to help care for the surviving animals. Officials said the animals will be sent back to their source country in line with the Wildlife Protection Act.

40-day drive ends: Rachakonda declared 'NBW-free'; 2,847 warrants executed
HYDERABAD: In a major crackdown on long-pending criminal cases, Rachakonda police declared the commissionerate 'NBW-free' on Saturday after executing 2,847 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) over the past 40 days. During the special drive, police also found that 52 of the accused were, in fact, deceased. Announcing this at a press conference, Rachakonda commissioner of police G Sudheer Babu said that of the 2,847 NBWs pending as of April 2025, police successfully executed 2,024 warrants. For the remaining 823 accused who could not be traced, the police filed requests in court to issue notices to their sureties and sought proclamation orders under sections 82 and 83 of CrPC and sections 84 and 85 of the new BNSS for property attachment. Representative Image MANGALURU: In a startling revelation that can unearth - quite literally - long-buried crimes, a former sanitation worker has filed a complaint with Dharmasthala police, claiming he was coerced into secretly disposing of multiple dead bodies over several years. A written complaint, dated July 3, was submitted by the complainant to the office of the superintendent of police and Dharmasthala police station, and a case was registered under BNS on July 4. The complainant further said he had recently returned to one of the burial sites and exhumed skeletal remains of some of the bodies he had buried, photographs of which were submitted to the authorities. In keeping with the complainant's request for anonymity, police have withheld personal details. The complainant has sought legal protection.
