Time of India2 days ago
HYDERABAD: In a major crackdown on long-pending criminal cases, Rachakonda police declared the commissionerate 'NBW-free' on Saturday after executing 2,847 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) over the past 40 days.
During the special drive, police also found that 52 of the accused were, in fact, deceased.
Announcing this at a press conference, Rachakonda commissioner of police G Sudheer Babu said that of the 2,847 NBWs pending as of April 2025, police successfully executed 2,024 warrants.
For the remaining 823 accused who could not be traced, the police filed requests in court to issue notices to their sureties and sought proclamation orders under sections 82 and 83 of CrPC and sections 84 and 85 of the new BNSS for property attachment.
" This special drive aimed to ensure accountability and restore the rule of law," the commissioner said.

Of the total NBWs, 1,408 were issued before 2023. In one notable case, the police traced an absconding accused - charged under the
Pocso Act
in 2016 - who was found to be serving a life sentence in a Nellore jail in Andhra Pradesh.
"Similarly, 14 other accused were discovered in jails across different locations, and those warrants were regularised by producing them in the respective courts," the commissioner added.

The drive also led to progress in pending trials. In four Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances related cases, where accused had been missing, trials have now resumed after the individuals were finally produced in court. The initiative, police said, was not just about clearing backlog but reinforcing integrity of justice system.

'These experiments won't work here': CM Devendra Fadnavis after MNS workers detained ahead of Thane rally; says 'Marathis are large-hearted'

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday sharply criticised the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for defying police instructions over its planned rally in Thane, amid growing political friction following the assault of a food stall owner who allegedly failed to speak Marathi. Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said the MNS should have coordinated with authorities about the rally route rather than insisting on a path that posed serious traffic concerns. 'Maharashtra is a democratic state. If anyone wants to take out a morcha, they must take permission. The route is decided by police for reasons like crowd control and traffic management. I was informed that they were was asked to take an alternate route, but they were adamant. Hence, the rally was not permitted,' the CM said. Without naming MNS directly, Fadnavis further added, 'I understand the essence of Maharashtra. Marathi people are large-hearted. We are not narrow-minded. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj always stood united with the people of the nation. These experiments won't work here.' The CM's remarks came after MNS leader Avinash Jadhav and several party workers were detained to prevent them from entering the Mira-Bhayander area for their rally, which was meant as a counter to a protest organised by local traders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top Public Speaking Course for Children Planet Spark Book Now Undo The traders' protest came in response to a viral video from July 1, showing MNS workers repeatedly slapping a food stall owner in Bhayander for allegedly not speaking Marathi. The police registered an FIR against seven persons under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rioting, assault, and criminal intimidation. The accused were released after receiving notices. In anticipation of possible unrest, Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar DCP Prakash Gaikwad issued prohibitory orders on Monday, citing public safety and traffic disruption. On Tuesday morning, MNS supporters were seen resisting police action as they were herded into buses amid heavy sloganeering. The incident has reignited the debate around linguistic identity and political assertion in Maharashtra and is quickly turning into a high-voltage issue ahead of the upcoming civic elections. 'Trump should roll out the black book on day one': Kash Patel's old rant on Epstein files goes viral

A video of Kash Patel from 2023 resurfaced on social media where he could heard talking about how "government gangsters" and FBI played a central role in the cover-up of Jeffrey Epstein case. He also urged Donald Trump to "roll out the black book on day one" of assuming office as the US president. On being asked about black book, Patel said, "That's under direct control of the director of the FBI. Just like the manifesto from the Nash Nashville school shooting of the Catholic schools. Yeah. We still haven't seen that. Right? It's not the Nashville police or PD saying we don't want this out." Talking about the cover-up, Patel said, "The FBI air mailed into that operation and said this is not getting out. Because they do that because they this is another government gangster operation. All these local law enforcement communities get funding from the DOJ and FBI for local programs. And if you don't cooperate, you're not getting your million dollars for this, and you're not getting it. And that's a lot of money to these local districts. That's how they play the game. That's why you don't have a black book." "And and to me, that's a thing I think president Trump should run on. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo On day one, roll out the black book. And not just that. On day one, roll out all of the text messaging communications we we were told were deleted. On day one, play the rest of the video of the pipe bomber. On day you know, he need one of the reforms I talked about in government gangsters is you need a central node to be continuously declassifying," he said. "It's another thing they do. They overclassify. And I'm telling you, as a former number two in the IC, they overclassify 50% of the stuff there to protect the deep state. Oh, no. You can't see that," he added. This comes as justice department confirmed that Epstein had no 'client list' and that no further case files would be released, contradicting earlier claims by Pam Bondi. The announcement sparked outrage among conservatives, with figures like Jack Posobiec, Alex Jones, and Elon Musk accusing the DOJ of a cover-up. Former CIA officer John Kiriakou, recently, made similar allegations of involvement of "deep state" that might have "destroyed information" in Epstein case. 'I'm not blaming the FBI director Kash Patel or the Deputy Director Dan Bongino. I think that that layer beneath them, that's part of what we like to call the Deep State, has taken this bull by the horns, and they've probably destroyed information,' he said. So far, Ghislaine Maxwell remains the only associate convicted in connection with his crimes, serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking.
