Lonikand, Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 7: In a powerful step toward environmental restoration and social good, Dr. Elie Organics, an ethical clean-beauty brand committed to sustainability, partnered with Thinksharp Foundation to create the Lonikand Biodiversity Park by planting over 1,000 trees in the village of Lonikand, Pune.
The event served not only as a green initiative but also as a deeply emotional tribute--dedicated to the children lost in wars across the world and those who tragically passed away in the recent Ahmedabad plane crash. The initiative emphasized the need for healing through nature, community engagement, and environmental compassion.
Gracing the occasion was Jackie Shroff, a veteran Bollywood actor and nature conservationist, who has long been a vocal advocate for environmental protection. His presence and heartfelt participation uplifted the spirit of the plantation event.
A Tribute That Lives and Breathes
The tree plantation drive stood as a tribute not just to the environment, but to the fragility of life and the need for peace in turbulent times. It was an act of remembrance and responsibility.
'This Biodiversity Park is more than just a plantation drive--it is a prayer rooted in soil. Every tree we plant today is a silent tribute to the children who lost their lives in wars across the world, and most recently, in the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. Through these trees, we hope to grow something that cannot be destroyed--love, peace, and humanity. Let this space remind us that healing begins when we care for both people and the planet.' -- Dr. Elie, Founder & Director, Dr. Elie Organics
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local villagers, school children, environmentalists, volunteers, and team members from both Dr. Elie Organics and Thinksharp Foundation. Each sapling planted carried with it a message--a promise to nurture life, honor memory, and build a greener future.

Jackie Shroff's wife Ayesha Shroff left her luxurious life to marry him, stayed in 1-room chawl, stood in line for washroom and…

It is not a hidden fact that Jackie Shroff used to live in a chawl in Mumbai. He continued living there even after becoming a star. His struggle and transition from the chawl to the bungalows is remarkable. But yet another interesting story of his life is how he met his wife, Ayesha Shroff. The actor met her when she was only 14, and she left her luxurious lifestyle to live with him in a one-room chawl and even stood in queues for the washroom. Talking about their love story, Jackie Shroff, in an interview with Filmfare, spoke about how it was love at first sight for him after he saw Ayesha travelling in a bus in Mumbai. He saw her hanging by holding the handle, and he instantly told himself that he would marry her. After becoming friends, he used to go for auditions along with Ayesha, who got a lead actress role in Teri Baahon Mein, and he was rejected. Ayesha did not hesitate even for a minute to follow Jackie to his one-room chawl where he was living as a struggling actor. The actor said, 'My house was running in Rs 30 when I was living in a chawl. Nobody expected anything from me. My wife stayed in one room with me at the chawl, and she queued in line to go to the washroom. I lived 33 years at the chawl.' Further, praising his wife, Shroff revealed that Ayesha was the daughter of Vir Chakra-awarded Air Vice Marshal and later the head of HAL, Ranjan Dutt. She came from a well-to-do family and supported Jackie during his struggling days. She even sold her house to get him a house. Opening up on if Ayesha's father had any reservations regarding their wedding, Jackie said, 'No, he didn't object, he must have seen my intention. He must have thought that I was a horse for the long race. I know I wasn't how a young lad should have been, but maybe they trusted me and I haven't let their trust down.' On the work front, Jackie Shroff will soon be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's King.

Jackie Shroff's Wife Ayesha Left Riches To Live In Chawl With Him: 'Queued In Line For Washroom'

Ayesha's father, Ranjan Dutt, was a Vir Chakra-awarded Air Vice Marshal and later the head of HAL. Jackie Shroff said, as quoted by SCREEN, 'It was love at first sight with Ayesha, she was travelling in a bus and I was on a bike driving behind that bus. It was my friend's bike, and I was going to his building because it had a pool table. I saw her on the bus. She was hanging by the holding handle and was holding a flag. She was coming from a march past. She was 14-15 at that time and I said to myself, 'This is the lady I shall marry.'" Jackie met Ayesha for the first time after she got off the bus. He introduced himself, and they had a conversation that lasted a while. Two days later, Ayesha's friend approached Jackie and mentioned that Ayesha thought he should pursue a career in acting. Her friend even recommended that he audition for a film by OP Ralhan. He said, 'Role nahi mila but we fell in love (I didn't get the role but I fell in love with Ayesha)." Jackie Shroff and Ayesha tied the knot in 1987. Jackie Shroff was a struggling actor living in a chawl. He recalled, 'My house was running in Rs 30 when I was living in a chawl. Nobody expected anything from me. My wife stayed in one room with me at the chawl, she queued in line to go to the washroom. I lived 33 years at the chawl." The actor mentioned that his wife came from a wealthy family. Her father, Ranjan Dutt, was a Vir Chakra-awarded Air Vice Marshal and later the head of HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited). However, Ayesha left her riches to be with Jackie and even supported him financially. 'My wife sold her house to get me a house. She took care of me," he said. Interestingly, Ayesha's father also had no objections. 'No, he didn't object, he must have seen my intention. He must have thought that I am a horse for the long race. I know I wasn't how a young lad should have been, but maybe they trusted me and I haven't let their trust down," the veteran actor said. First Published: July 07, 2025, 14:08 IST
