Primark's 'chic' £14 bag looks 'so similar' to £2,700 Loewe style
Primark is selling a "pretty" £14 bag that resembles a designer style. The retailer is a firm favourite with high street shoppers looking for affordable fashion and accessories, and the Ruched Chain Strap Pouch Bag could be a new crowd-pleaser.
The £14 Primark pouch bag is available in ecru or burgundy, and the red style looks similar to a pricier alternative by designer brand Loewe. However, Loewe's Medium Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin is priced much higher at £2,700.
The designer style is available in more than ten colours, including a sea salt shade comparable to Primark's ecru bag, though the burnt red arguably looks the most similar to Primark's offering. The bags are very similar in design, with a deep red tone, rouched shape, knot detailing, and gold chain.
However, the Loewe chain is red and gold, whereas the Primark chain is only one colour. The Loewe bag has a detachable leather strap, and it is made from nappa lambskin with suede lining.
Conversely, Primark's bag is finished with a leather-look effect, but it is made from 50 per cent polyester and 50 per cent polyurethane. Primark's product description explains: "Summer style? It's in the bag! Upgrade your new season accessories edit with this pretty pouch bag.
"Made from a soft faux leather, this bag has a luxe look and feel that's perfect for evenings spent out on the town. The pouch style is super chic, meanwhile the gold-toned chain strap handle adds to its polished look and feel. A must-have piece you'll reach for on repeat, it's here to carry you through this season and beyond!"
Loewe's product description says: "The Flamenco purse is a lightweight and soft bag with a ruched shape, historical knot drawstrings and a donut chain. This medium version is crafted in mellow nappa lambskin."
The designer brand also offers a Mini Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin for £2,200 and a Large Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin for £3,200.
While the listing for the Primark bag does not include dimensions, it is at least £2,000 cheaper than each designer bag. You can check availability at your nearest store here.
Alternatively, shoppers looking for a similar style from another retailer might prefer Dune London's Leather Drawstring Bag, on offer from £159 to £79. While it looks similar to both the Primark and Loewe bags, it differs in that it is made from leather but has a recycled synthetic lining, and there are other design differences.
Dune London's product description says: "Slouchy styles are always sought after, so snap up Primrose L today and treat yourself to a shoulder bag with effortless charm. Boasting a magnetic closure, elegant gold-tone chain details and multiple straps, it's a versatile addition to your accessories edit."

Primark shoppers will spot big change to mannequins used in store
Every aspect 'carefully considered' to make the models feel like 'more than just a mannequin' Primark will introduce its first seated mannequin, designed to represent a manual wheelchair user, in a selection of stores to enhance better representation of disability on the high street. Shoppers will see this in certain shops as the project takes off in certain UK stores and across parts of Europe. The model, who will be named Sophie, was inspired by and co-created with British television presenter, disability advocate and wheelchair user, Sophie Morgan. The mannequin will take centre stage in displays showcasing Primark's Adaptive range, the first major women's and men's fashion collection on the high street designed specifically for those with disabilities, as well as its main fashion ranges. Primark's Adaptive range, which launched in January, included wardrobe staples based on Primark's bestsellers, from trench coats and tees to jumpers and jeans, all with features designed around the needs of disabled people or those experiencing temporary disability. These include magnetic zippers, snap fastenings, waist loops and hidden openings for tube, stoma or catheter access. There is also a range of options for people who are seated, such as wheelchair users. Sophie Morgan, co-creator of the mannequin, said: 'This project is incredibly close to my heart - it's been over 15 years in the making. To now walk into a major high street retailer like Primark and see a mannequin that looks like me is deeply emotional. "Sophie represents more than just a mannequin, she's a symbol of progress and visibility. Working with Primark to create her has been a dream, every detail, from her posture to the design of the wheelchair as a natural extension of the body has been carefully considered to reflect the real lives of wheelchair users. I can't wait to see how people respond to her.' The journey to bring the mannequin to life spanned over a year and was led by Primark's Visual Merchandising team. Sophie played a central role in the design process, from mood boards and body measurements to reviewing 3D models and visiting the manufacturing site for final approvals. From the outset, both Primark and Sophie wanted to ensure the mannequin pose would be representative of a manual wheelchair user. In tandem, Primark's store design team worked with Sophie to develop a bespoke manual wheelchair prop that would work perfectly with the mannequin and be sturdy enough to withstand Primark's busy stores. Ann-Marie Cregan, trading director at Primark, said: 'This is another important milestone in our ambition to make Primark a more accessible place to shop and work. From introducing a wider range of mannequins to launching our Adaptive clothing range earlier this year, we've worked hard to better represent the diverse communities who shop with us. Seeing the 'Sophie' mannequin in our stores is a proud moment and a reflection of the brilliant collaboration between our teams and Sophie.' In 2024, Primark launched a series of commitments to make its business more accessible. These include offering more accessible products, creating inclusive store environments, fostering a culture of accessibility, ensuring diverse representation across its campaigns and working with organisations and charities that help to improve the lives of disabled people. Earlier this week, the retailer announced a new approach to kidswear, bringing more inclusive, comfort-led features into its core ranges. Changes include removing neck labels from over half of its clothing, including sweatshirts, joggers and pyjamas, and introducing new seamless and flat seam socks, designed to offer a smoother, more comfortable fit. Launching initially in 22 flagship stores across nine countries, Sophie will be used for displays in stores including Oxford Street East, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds.

Why Is This £56 Jacket Ideal For Rainy Summers? Kendall Jenner Is In On The Secret
There was a time when even the most fashion-forward editor considered wearing activewear for anything apart from your actual workout an unthinkable faux pas. However, athleisure now comes runway approved with brands including Miu Miu, Loewe and Wales Bonner signing off on track jackets for this season. I'll admit, I was still sceptical about sporty clothing and its wearability outside of the gym. That is, until, I spotted Kendall Jenner wearing a comfortable sweatshirt from Adanola. The Manchester-based brand has been making waves with its minimalist activewear sets and cult-favourite leggings over the past few years, collecting an array of It girl fans including Emily Ratajwokski, Bella Hadid and its newest ambassador, Kendall Jenner. Since her collaboration with the athleisure label back in January this year, the brand has featured in many of the model's chic off-duty looks – and her latest look is no different. While driving through Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, Jenner kept her look effortlessly casual in Adanola's Waffle Full Zip Funnel Neck Sweatshirt in a soft light grey melange. She styled the sweatshirt with Adanola's Ultimate Ultra Crop Shorts in black, layered over the brand's V Neck Strappy Vest Top, which is now nearly sold out, with only two sizes remaining. Much like the strappy vest top, the light grey melange sweatshirt is running low on stock, but you can still get the exact jumper in a rich chocolate mocha brown. Lightweight and easy to wear, the funnel neck sweatshirt makes for the perfect layer to fight off the breeze, especially as summer evenings turn cooler. As for the shorts, they're still available in all sizes except XXS and come in a variety of ten colours, from vibrant orange to classic navy blue. So, whether you take notes from Jenner with an all-over sporty look, style the jacket with a midi dress and trainers, or with your favourite inky blue jeans and a sleek white T-shirt, it's sure to be a winner. Shop her outfit below, from head to toe. 1. Waffle Full Zip Funnel Neck Sweatshirt - Grey Featuring intricate waffle detailing, Kendall Jenner's exact sweatshirt is incredibly comfortable, but is selling out rapidly. 2. Waffle Full Zip Funnel Neck Sweatshirt - Brown Alternatively, if you don't want to miss out, opt for the brown iteration that'll work well for the autumn months ahead. 3. Ultimate Ultra Crop Short Just like the Ultimate Leggings loved by Jenner herself, these ultra-cropped shorts come in a range of colours in sizes XXS to XXXL. 4. V Neck Strappy Vest Top Mostly sold out, this strappy v-neck top is an excellent wardrobe staple that'll look brilliant whether worn to the gym with leggings or to brunch with wide-leg jeans. When is the best time to go to the supermarket in the UK?
It could be that you're gearing up for a BBQ, doing the weekly shop or already preparing for the back-to-school return. However, for those of us who prefer a less crowded supermarket trip, then the summer chaos can be off-putting. Richard Price, supermarket shopping expert at Britsuperstore, has analysed in-store patterns and shared the best (and worst) times to shop during the summer break. The retail expert has also looked at which days and times are best to shop and what to avoid, including the "danger zones" like bank holidays and sunny Friday afternoons. Mr Price says that Tuesdays to Thursdays, 7–9am, are the quietest windows, and contrary to popular belief, Sundays aren't always the worst. In fact, late Sunday afternoons can be 'surprisingly calm', especially during hot weekends when families head outdoors. He explained: 'During the school holidays, the usual rhythm of supermarket shopping changes significantly. "Without the structure of school drop-offs and work routines, footfall becomes more unpredictable and often increases in volume. 'Families are more likely to shop together, which can slow down the overall pace in-store, while better weather and spontaneous days out mean more last-minute purchases.' Below, Britsuperstore details the best time to go the supermarket for low crowds during the school holidays: Monday 7-9am Tuesday 7-9am or 7-9pm Wednesday 7-9am or 7-9pm Thursday 7-9am or 7-9pm Friday - avoid after 3pm, early morning if needed Saturday - avoid - busy most of the day Sunday - late afternoon (3-5pm), but limited stock On the other end of the spectrum is the crowded periods, where families may be stocking up for a weekend getaway or garden party. High-risk times to avoid during the school holidays, according to retail experts: Midday to early afternoon (11 am–2 pm) This is prime time for families heading out to shop after a slow summer morning. Expect queues, buggies, and kids in tow, especially in supermarkets near parks, leisure centres, or popular day-out spots. Late afternoons (3–6 pm) With no school run, this time becomes a key window for after-nap or post-activity shopping. Parents often pop in for dinner bits, and teens on summer break head out for snacks and drinks. Friday evenings and weekends Still peak times for big shops and BBQ/pre-weekend stock-ups. In summer, warm weather adds to the rush as people prep for garden gatherings and last-minute staycations. The Saturday and Sunday before a bank holiday Monday are especially busy. Mr Price added: 'Planning your food shop around these shifting patterns, rather than sticking to your usual schedule, can help avoid queues, reduce stress, and even lead to fresher stock and better availability.'
