Genius Life Hacks That Actually Work

Genius Life Hacks That Actually Work

Buzz Feeda day ago

Sometimes the littlest things can make your daily routine *so* much easier. Reddit user ActuallyInFamous recently asked, "What is a life hack that actually has worked for you?" Here are the most helpful responses everyone should try at least once:
"Not looking at my clock, watch, phone, or anything when I'm going to bed. Even as much as I want to, when I can't fall asleep, I resist. Seeing what time it is and panicking about it helps no one. Works like a charm for my sleep."
"Be nice first — until they give you a reason not to be nice."
"If it's on your mind, handle it right away. Don't lie in bed thinking, 'Aw man, I should have done so and so or this and that.' This goes for the dishes, eating cake, and taking your dream vacation. If at all possible, try to have fewer 'what-ifs' in life."
"Having a place for the important things and putting them there when I am through with them."
"No more than two lights on per person. No lights on as long as the sun is up and out."
"Folding matching sheets, duvet cover, and pillow cases inside a pillow case, after washing them. Then I don't have to hunt for all the bits of the matching sets when I change the bedding."
"I keep a running Microsoft Word document for all work notes. Today's are on top. Super easy to refer back to. I start a new file about once a year."
"If you can do it in two minutes, do it now."
"The sugar craving is the same craving for water, somewhat. If you're having a sweet tooth, try a glass of water; odds are you are dehydrated."
"Before leaving a table at a restaurant, a hotel room, your plane seat, the backseat of an Uber, etc., take an extra moment to turn around and look at where you were. You'd be surprised at what you forgot to take with you."
"Clean the kitchen and wash dishes while I'm cooking. It is frustrating trying to clean a dirty kitchen after you've eaten. You're full, tired, and don't want to do anything. It's better to clean as you cook."
"Wearing a goofy grin on my face whenever I can. It turns out to be a great mood brightener. That being said, 'don't put it down, put it away' is absolutely brilliant."
"I fold the laundry as I take it out of the dryer. I'm more likely to put it away right away as opposed to living out of the basket of unfolded laundry."
"No eating in my room. The dishes end up staying there until they're well past disgusting."
"I used to snooze a lot, and then I decided I would start getting up immediately after the clock goes off, not read my phone or anything, just get up. I get more sleep and I have more energy throughout the day."
"Putting the sun visors down and against the windshield will actually help defog/defrost it faster."
"Getting the breakfast table ready the night before so I have a little more time in the morning, and just have to add the things that could spoil. I would do this right after dinner, and it always made me happy in the morning when I had to take my daughter to school and had a lot to do. I even had a tray with all the items that didn't need to be kept in the fridge, so I'd just have to take it out of the kitchen closet, plus the items from the fridge. The breakfast table was complete in 30 seconds every morning, which is a very relaxing way to start the day."
"Quitting alcohol."
"Learn to sew by hand. You don't need to be that skilled. Sew on the loose button, mend the torn seam, and patch it up generally. A younger friend of mine took her coat to a dry cleaners and they said, 'Do you want us to tighten the buttons for you?' She said yes. I think she thought it was a courtesy thing, and it was £3 per button. There were eight buttons, six on the coat and two on the cuffs. I told her next time I would do the buttons for her."
"If you have to do something unpleasant, do it properly so that you only have to do it once."
"Make your bed in the morning. That way, even if you do nothing all day, you will have accomplished something."

RaySearch Laboratories launches oncology information system

RaySearch Laboratories has launched RayCare v2025, an advanced oncology information system designed to streamline clinical workflows and improve data management in cancer care. The latest version introduces significant improvements, including Microsoft Word integration, DICOM Modality Worklist, and Health Level Seven (HL7) inbound scheduling support. RayCare v2025's integration with Microsoft Word enables oncology professionals to generate and update patient-related documents directly within the patient chart, promoting consistent documentation process. Imaging workflows can be optimised through DICOM Modality Worklist integration. This enables imaging devices to retrieve patient and appointment data automatically, reducing manual inputs and the risk of mistakes. The update further improves care coordination by allowing RayCare to receive appointments from external systems, including hospital information systems, via HL7 inbound scheduling support. This reduces the administrative burden and enhances the overall interoperability of the treatment chain. The diagnosis module now features automatic cancer staging that is in line with the eighth edition American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) guidelines, aiding in standardised and precise clinical decision-making. RayCare v2025 extends its compatibility to include new treatment delivery platforms and unveils a new RayCare Treatment user interface designed to streamline the management of beam sessions. The system now integrates with Accuray Radixact, Accuray CyberKnife, and IBA ProteusOne. RaySearch founder and CEO Johan Löf said: 'RayCare v2025 reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing integrated, intelligent cancer care. With every release, we take another step towards a future where oncology teams are empowered by smarter workflows, seamless connectivity, and truly adaptive treatment support.' The company's product line also includes RayIntelligence, an oncology analytics system that enables clinics to collect, structure, and analyse data, and the RayCommand treatment control system that connects treatment machines with planning and information systems. RaySearch's software is currently in use at over 1,100 clinics across 47 countries. NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island in Mineola placed an order in May 2023 for RayStation. "RaySearch Laboratories launches oncology information system" was originally created and published by Hospital Management, a GlobalData owned brand. People Are Sharing The Things They Did To Their Body They'd Give Anything To Reverse, And It Just Shows How Delicate Our Health Can Be

We live our whole lives hearing about how our body is a temple, a wonderland, a sacred vessel... but sometimes, things happen, and whether by choice or not, over the course of an entire lifetime, our bodies can really take on a lot of trauma. So when Reddit user u/FlyHighNow77777 asked the question, "What is something regrettable that you did to your body that you would give your life savings to reverse?" In r/AskReddit, I knew it would be full of heart-wrenching stories: 1."Wearing high heels (four+ inches) every day for work in my 20s. It did a number on my knees in my 30s — they would hurt when I did activities I enjoyed, like hiking. Now in my 40s, the knee pain got better after switching to zero-drop, minimal footwear, but would still hurt at times. I'm hoping it doesn't get too bad when I get older…" —SertraLynne 2."I'm covered in tattoos, which I started getting at 18 because I was a part of that scene. Now I'm a very humble, outdoorsy person that doesn't care about being perceived as cool. I don't regret them all but wish I wasn't so heavily tattooed now." —u/Dry_Shirt_2772 3."Tanning beds... WTF was I thinking? I just liked the warmth and solitude. It was my me time. I was so dumb and oblivious. I had never been in a sauna. That could've done the same for me without the melanoma and skin aging." —u/mgmom421020 4."Skin picking. I started at nine years old after a traumatic event and never stopped. My upper body is so scarred a doctor once asked me if I have neurofibromatosis. And the skin on my arms is basically numb by now." —u/thane_of_midnight 5."When I was nine, I got water stuck in my ear from a beach trip. None of the usual tricks to get it out were working, so I plugged my nose and blew as hard as I could. I completely decimated my eardrum, which has resulted in countless infections and hearing loss. Don't do it!" —u/AltruisticHighway6 6."I got surgery to improve my vision but developed a post-surgical infection and ultimately lost my vision in the eye I was trying to fix." —u/writeyourwayout 7."'Powder brows,' which are just face tattoos that they lie and say are semi-permanent. They turned black/gray after a few days (never faded at all), and I'm pale and blonde. I waited years to remove them because I was too scared to ruin my face even more." "I just had my fifth laser removal session. They are orange now because removal takes forever, and the ink slowly fades from black to red to orange to yellow. Then, you may not be able to get rid of yellow. Powder brows are such a scam." —u/SoManyDreamsToday 8."It's not what I did but what I didn't do... Take care of my teeth. I should have gotten dental work done as soon as I started working. I am 65+, and I have crooked teeth and cavities and cannot afford dental because Medicare does not cover it. Fixed income and old age suck. TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH!" —u/Nena902 9."Not enough breaks while gaming. At the ripe old age of 23, I'm showing serious symptoms of carpal tunnel. Stretch your hands, move them around, and do not keep them in the WASD pose for literal hours without breaks." —u/txt-png 10."Not taking care of my skin. Sunscreen was crap when I was a kid, but by my 20s, it had gotten better. I wish I would have used an SPF moisturizer. Now I have large freckles (I have lots of freckles all over) and a few wrinkles. Not horrible or anything, but I could have looked younger instead of my age. My daughter, who is also a redhead, has almost no freckles because we always taught her to put sunscreen on." —u/sisterfunkhaus 11."Working 10-13 hour shifts in the cheapest guideline-appropriate shoes I could find. They were $7 at Citi Trends, but my back and shoulders will never be the same. Working two jobs while in school is not for the faint of heart. I'm never working that hard again." —u/OtherwisePianist224 12."Joined the US Military. I do not recommend it unless you're prepared to destroy your back and knees (at minimum) and potentially deal with a lifetime of PTSD. The US military is so good at traumatizing people that they don't even have to deploy you to do it!" —u/CaffeinatedHBIC 13."Started vaping. I had never struggled with addictions before, and I liked the social/sharing aspect. Four years later, I have issues with circulation to my fingers and toes, a constant dry and itchy nasal system, and random shooting lung pain. I quit cold turkey 13 days ago after the lung pain got really bad and scared me, but I can't believe that despite that, I am still craving it whenever something goes slightly wrong or I have a drink with friends. I hear it gets easier, though." —u/Proper-Breath1825 14."Pushed through the pain. I thought intense pain was just part of intense exercise. Turns out, I had an undiagnosed connective tissue disease and am now a wheelchair user at 50. Pain is your body telling you something, and that message should never be ignored." —u/jenleepeace 15."I had Botox injections in Bangkok, in a clinic that was located in a shopping mall (MBK Center). I have no idea what they injected me with. It gave me horrible allergies and constant 24/7 itching. At first, it was located only in the injection region. I literally had to press my fingernails there and slightly scratch; otherwise, it drove me insane, as it never stopped." "After a few weeks, these itching particles started to travel to other places in my body, like 24/7 itchy stardust. So now it wasn't just my wrinkles above my nose that I felt the need to press my fingernails into; it was my full body. Being completely allergy-free for the first 35 years of my life turned into Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) in less than a week, and I was taking three to four antihistamines daily. I've taken them ever since; otherwise, the itching in my body becomes unbearable. All it took was one injection session, and everything was completely wrecked. And it wasn't even doing anything to my muscle nerves, so it's a mystery what they actually injected." —u/Capable-Anything269 And finally, here's someone's story that will leave you with a very important message: 16."I didn't love and enjoy my body. All I could think was, 'I'm too fat,' 'I'm too ugly,' and 'I'm not good enough.' Now I'm much, much bigger. I was hit by a drunk driver, so I'm also disabled, and when I look back, I can't believe I thought that about my body at that time." —u/sohnsohn Do you find yourself relating to any of this and want to tell your own story? People Are Sharing The Ways They've 'Won The Genetic Lottery,' And To Say I'm Jealous Is An Understatement

Last month, Reddit user bouquetoftarnations posted to the popular Casual Conversation subreddit with what I thought was a pretty fun question: "In what small way have you won the genetic lottery?" "In my family," they said, "we don't get eye bags or dark undereye circles. Ever. No matter how little sleep we get. And my parents and I are all really terrible at maintaining consistent sleep schedules and getting a healthy amount of sleep. So, I do feel we've sort of won the genetic lottery there. I was wondering if anyone had some similar small wins." People chimed in with some great answers, and I think it's always fun to appreciate the positives about yourself! So, here are some of the best: 1."Three fully functional kidneys." Md Ariful Islam / Getty Images, Paramount Pictures —u/ADICTO613 2."I have the genetic variant known as CCR5-Δ32 deletion that is resistant to HIV infection. Discovered accidentally when testing for a rare genetic mutation that runs in my family." —u/whineybubbles 3."I can draw near photographic portraits of people with a pencil. I didn't know until I was a teenager, and it was a school assignment, and I just did a great job, and was shocked, I had no idea I could do that. Then I went to show my grandma how proud I was, looked at the art on her walls, and realized I inherited it." —u/bluetuber34 4."My brothers and I can all wiggle our noses (like on Bewitched). We got that from our dad. We use it to say 'love you' whenever the fancy strikes." "But my real 'genetic lottery win' is my brothers who show me affection in this small way." —u/Artz-Rhb 5."Apparently, I have enough room in my mouth that I can keep my wisdom teeth." —u/twinA-12 Related: Doctors And Nurses Are Sharing The Terrifying Things They Witnessed In Hospitals, And I Guess "Grey's Anatomy" Isn't So Far Off After All 6."I have NO leg hair. Or arm hair. Literally NONE. I haven't had to shave in 26 years. Feels nice sometimes, not gonna lie." Apple TV —u/IrresponsibleSiren "I lost my leg and arm hair in my 30s. I don't remember exactly when, but on a sunny day I just noticed it and thought, 'Awesome!' Turns out I had thyroid cancer. Once I got it treated the hair came back. I still think about it though. I used to just touch my arms. They were so smooth!" —u/HeadstrongHound 7."Huge bladder (or just dull stretch receptors). Road trip champion!" —u/adrift_in_the_bay 8."I have no reaction to mosquito bites or poison ivy. No clue why." "Also, I'm genetically resistant to Norovirus, which would explain why literally everyone in my college dorm got it but me. I'm pretty sure my mom is too, as she was a kindergarten teacher and was often exposed to it (a wild amount of people send their kids who are vomiting to school), and she never got it." —u/themehboat Related: "I Thought This Was Normal": People Are Sharing Diagnoses They Received After Someone Else Pointed Out Their Symptoms 9."My teeth are perfectly straight. No one believes that I've never had braces. I've also never had a cavity or any other dental work." —u/sarahsuebob 10."I don't need glasses." Troublemaker Studios / Dimension Films / Via —u/happy--muffin 11."I have clear skin. I don't get pimples often. 🌞" —u/Little_Owl114 12."I have absolute pitch, which is the ability to identify or re-create a given musical note without the benefit of a reference tone. I am not a musician so I am wasting it away." —u/cloudewe1 13."My immune system kicks butt. I am a kindergarten teacher. Kindies are renowned for being adorable and efficient little vectors of all kinds of disgusting contagion. In the past 11 years, I have taken only ONE sick day because I was actually sick." ABC —u/sometimes-i-rhyme 14."I have very dense bones..." "I found that out when I had to have a hip replacement. When my doctor told me I have above-average density of my bones, I said, 'OH! So I really AM big-boned!' He turned and looked at me and flatly said, 'Yes, but you're fat, too.' He couldn't let me have that for just five —u/VividFiddlesticks 15."I have an epic beard and am freakishly strong. I guess the two go together when I'm cutting wood or doing other manly things." —u/WyldStalynz 16."My hair is brown, but my beard is red! I feel like that's pretty cool." —u/Jovian_Moons_97 "That means you are a carrier of the ginger gene! You could make a ginger baby with someone who also has the incomplete gene; they don't have to be ginger to have it! It shows in men through ginger facial hair often!" —u/gibgerbabymummy 17."I stay fit super easily; I live a healthy life and exercise often but particularly if I want to strength train, I gain significant size and definition within a few weeks. My army buddies said I just had to walk past the gym and I'd bulk. 😆" —u/beltfedfreedom 18."Everyone in my immediate family is very intelligent. We're all outshone by my little brother, though. He's one of those weird super-genius kids. Taught himself to read and write at about 2 years old, and now he does programming and 3D modeling at 11." —u/femboy_siegfried What d'you think?
