Overview
While station wagons used to be wood-paneled purveyors of the boring, modern wagons—what few remain, at least—are opting for a more luxurious approach, and the 2026 Volvo V60 Cross Country is one such family-hauler. While it's undeniably a station wagon, the V60 Cross Country rides on a slightly lifted suspension and wears some rugged styling cues that wouldn't look out of place on an SUV.
Under the hood is a 247-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Performance is average, and the V60 isn't a track star, but it rides comfortably and feels stable in corners. Premium amenities abound inside, and the top-spec trim ups the luxury appeal with nappa leather upholstery and extra tech goodies.
Expert Tip: If you want something a little larger and more luxurious, consider the Volvo V90 Cross Country, which offers a similar vibe in a bigger package.
What's New for 2026?
The V60 Cross Country carries over to the new year with no significant changes. Unfortunately, its racier sibling—the V60 Polestar Engineered—has been discontinued.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2026 Volvo V60 / V60 Cross Country starts at $53,495 and goes up to $58,795 depending on the trim and options.

Ultra
$58,795 0 $10k $20k $30k $40k $50k $60k $70k $80k $90k
We think the Ultra trim is worth the upgrade, as it brings niceties such as a 14-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo system, heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, nappa leather upholstery, and a head-up display.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance

8-speed automatic Drivetrain: all-wheel drive
The V60 Cross Country is powered by a 247-hp turbocharged four-cylinder and comes with all-wheel drive. As long as you're not pushing it too hard, the V60 Cross Country feels agile and planted through corners, and the engine is responsive around town.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
C/D 75-mph Highway Fuel-Economy Test: 29 mpg
29 mpg EPA City Rating: 24 mpg
24 mpg EPA Highway Rating: 31 mpg
The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 V60 Cross Country yet, but the 2025 model earned ratings of 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, a V60 Cross Country achieved 29 mpg. For more information about the V60's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: Volvo designs some great interiors, and the V60's cabin is similar to the posh environs in the S60 sedan and the XC60 SUV. The wagon's cabin is spacious, the seats are comfortable, and the design is undeniably upscale. But Volvo's minimalist approach means that many controls are hidden away inside the infotainment screen. Nice materials such as metal trim, real wood, and soft leather make the interior look and feel more expensive than it is.
Second Row: While it's not as roomy in the back seat as the larger V90 Cross Country, the V60 should still fit a pair of adults in relative comfort. Volvo's comfy seats extend to the back as well, and there are premium amenities such as leather upholstery and dedicated air vents.
Cargo Capacity: Cargo capacity is great, too, something we expect from a station wagon. In our testing, we fit eight carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats and a total of 22 with the seats folded. For reference, the Audi A4 Allroad fit two fewer carry-ons in both tests.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Infotainment: 9.0-inch touchscreen
9.0-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Audio System: 14-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo
The V60 Cross Country comes standard with Volvo's Google-based infotainment system. The interface runs on a vertically oriented 9.0-inch touchscreen, which responds fairly quickly. However, it's not flawless, as the interface features on-screen icons that are too small for easy use while driving. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, as is Bluetooth connectivity and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot powered by a 4G LTE data connection.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Volvo's safety-focused ethos means driver-assistance features such as lane-keeping assist, automated emergency braking, and other collision-avoidance technologies are standard.
Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control
For information about the V60 Cross Country's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
Volvo's standard protection plan doesn't break from the luxury-brand norm, offering four years or 50,000 miles for both powertrain and limited warranty coverage, but it does add some value in the form of a three-year complimentary scheduled maintenance plan
Limited Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
four years or 50,000 miles Powertrain Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
four years or 50,000 miles Complimentary Maintenance: three years or 36,000 miles

Repealing rule to curb greenhouse gas emissions will increase gas prices, Trump administration's own analysis finds

When the Environmental Protection Agency announced it would roll back regulations aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions — especially from motor vehicles — it touted annual savings for Americans of $54 billion. The EPA said eliminating Biden-era policies, which encouraged higher fuel efficiency standards for cars and electric vehicle adoption to limit tailpipe emissions, would enable consumers to "have affordable choices when deciding to buy a car." But a CBS News review of the agency's own regulatory impact analysis of the proposal found that gasoline prices would increase, and nearly a half million jobs would be lost by 2035, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Agency, which was cited in the EPA's report. In the EPA's July analysis, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, which collects and analyzes energy data, showed Biden-era policies that were adopted by the end of 2024 would dramatically bring down the future cost of gasoline because more consumers would be driving electric vehicles, hybrids and fuel-efficient cars that require less gas. It is challenging to predict the future gas prices because they're subject to high uncertainty and market volatility, but under a future scenario where Biden-era policies have been revoked under the Trump administration, the EIA projects gasoline prices will continue to increase because of a higher demand for gas-powered cars and fuel. The former administrator of the EIA, Joseph DeCarolis, explained in an email that if the government "disincentivizes electric vehicle purchases, more consumers will purchase gasoline vehicles resulting in higher gasoline consumption and high gasoline prices for everyone." "There's a clear causal connection between rescinding measures promoting electric vehicles, such as EPA tailpipe standards, and the projection of higher gasoline prices," he said. When asked in an interview with CBS News' "The Takeout with Major Garrett" about how this plan could raise gas prices, Zeldin did not directly address the question. Instead, he argued that previous policies like an electric vehicle mandate were costing trillions of dollars to regulate climate pollution, saying the policies were "seeking to strangulate out of existence, entire sectors of our economy, and specifically our energy economy. 'It's important that we are applying common sense," Zeldin said, "that we are cognizant of these economic demands and that, wherever possible, when we can protect the environment and grow the economy that we will choose both." Neither the Biden nor Obama administrations implemented EV mandates, though both encouraged EV adoptions by Americans and businesses. Zeldin reiterated the Trump administration's stance that the EPA does not have the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act unless an act of Congress changes that. "Here's my message: If Congress wants the EPA to be regulating the heck out of carbon dioxide, well, they could put it inside of law," Zeldin said. Along with rolling back greenhouse gas emissions standards to limit tailpipe emissions, the EPA would also rescind fuel efficiency measures. Under Biden-era fuel efficiency policies, a new standard gas-powered car was expected to get 47.1 miles per gallon by 2027, and by 2035, cars were expected to achieve 61.2 mpg, according to EIA data. Without the Biden policies, model 2027 cars are supposed to meet a 43.6 mpg standard and gradually increase to 50.5 mpg by 2035. Light trucks and SUVs, beginning in model year 2027, under a scenario where Biden policies are revoked by the Trump administration, are set to reach fuel efficiency of 27.2 mpg and increase to 28.6 mpg by 2035. Had the Biden policies remained in place, SUVs and light trucks were expected to meet a 28.4 mpg standard in 2027 and increase to 46.2 mpg by 2035, according to EIA data. The EIA's own data estimates that a future scenario — where Biden-Obama emissions standards are revoked — would lead to a loss of 450,000 jobs by 2035. Jobs would begin to rebound by 2045, but not enough to overcome the significant losses suffered in previous decades. Peter Huether, senior transportation research associate at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, said in a statement, "Drivers would pay thousands of dollars more in fuel and maintenance costs over the life of a vehicle, and businesses could lose billions annually from higher trucking costs" as a result of the Trump administration's deregulation. "These costs would ripple through the economy, raising prices for everyday goods and undercutting job growth," Huether said.

The 2026 Lotus Emira Is Better. But It's Also Pricier

Lotus announced several updates to the 2026 Emira back in June. The automaker made the V6 SE the flagship model in America, with the Emira Turbo serving as the brand's entry point, and now we know how much they'll cost. CarBuzz is reporting that the Emira will start at $106,900. That'll buy you a Mercedes-AMG-powered Lotus with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine making 360 horsepower. The 2025 Emira started at $102,250. Photo by: Lotus The Emira V6 SE will start at $112,900. The 3.5-liter supercharged powertrain produces the same 400 horsepower, but Lotus optimized the dampers and made wheel alignment adjustments for better handling and ride comfort. Every 2026 Emira , regardless of powertrain, gets a rerouted cooling system that not only improves flow to the main radiator and transmission cooler, but also reduces weight. The automaker also refined the model's eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox for the new model year. The car will be available with two new colors: Eos Green and Purple Haze Metallic. A comment on an post last Saturday, which revealed pricing, noted that the two colors would cost an extra $2,950. Tangerine Orange is a $7,800 upgrade. The commenter also said the Racing Line variant would start at $115,900, excluding destination. The Racing Line trim adds a hand-painted lower pinstripe, 20-inch wheels, and extra badging, according to the consumer site. Motor1 has reached out to Lotus to confirm the prices. We'll update the story when we hear back. Order books are open now. What's Lotus Doing? ‘This Happens All the Time to Customers:' Man Buys Brand-New Toyota 7 Months Ago. Now He Says the Warranty's Been Voided

A Toyota customer reveals that Toyota denied his warranty claim to fix his steering wheel, which is already peeling after seven months. As of this writing, the TikTok has gone viral, generating over 125,900 views. The Leather Started to Disintegrate, and It's Not Your Problem? In the post, Zane (@clinicallyinzane) shares his frustration toward Toyota for denying his warranty claim to fix his steering wheel. The short, silent message spoke loudly. 'Maybe Karen's are right sometimes, because what do you mean Toyota isn't warranting a car I bought seven months ago?' he writes in an on-screen caption. In a follow-up post , he explains why Toyota denied him coverage to fix his steering wheel. The video reveals the steering wheel leather bubbling, which he believes will peel shortly. 'That's not covered by warranty because that could be your hand oils,' he says the dealership told him. 'I don't drive telekinetically, I drive with my hands,' Zane replies. Zane told Motor1 , 'I have my steering wheel Softex 'leather' bubbling up and detaching from the wheel at under 30k miles, only after buying it 7 months ago. The dealer sent it to Toyota which they denied due to 'external factors' but can't say the exact reason why. It's been escalated, but I was told it is unlikely to be fixed.' SofTex is a synthetic leather seat material designed for wear, easy cleaning, and resisting spills, Toyota reports. While SofTex is supposed to be easy to clean, other Toyota drivers have shared similar frustrations with the SofTex leather peeling apart . 'A brand new car denying a warranty because hands touch the wheel. This steering wheel isn't designed to be touched. The leather started to disintegrate and it's not your problem?' Zane concludes. This Happens All the Time Viewers chimed in to share about their Toyota warranty stories and how they were also denied coverage. 'Nope, they will fight tooth and nail to avoid warranting. I had a 23 Tundra and my motor blew 'known issue now' and they partially rebuilt it and left bad parts in. They just told me 'oops nothing we can do now',' one TikTok commenter shared. 'Toyota declined to warranty an axle replacement. I have an extended warranty & they said because I had lowering springs they wouldn't be covering it,' another replied. 'I've been a Toyota MDT since 2005. This happens all the time to customers. Any type of outside influence results in the repair not being covered by Toyota,' a master diagnostic technician shared. Additionally, Toyota drivers on car enthusiast forums have shared their stories about coverage being denied. These denied warranty claims included issues with technology , blown engines , and transmissions . 'Toyota has a long history of giving people run-arounds on warranty & recalls. Their service centers are a joke,' one TikTok commenter shared. What Causes a Warranty Claim to Be Denied? Automakers and warranty companies are in business to make money, which means that they aren't ecstatic to pay every claim that comes through, CarTalk reports. According to Lawyers , vehicle warranty claims can be denied for several reasons, including: Failing to maintain the vehicle or not following a regular maintenance schedule: This includes not doing oil changes, tire rotations, or scheduling other routine services as specified in the owner's manual. Using unauthorized parts or service providers: Using aftermarket parts for modifications or using an unauthorized service center may disqualify your warranty. Misuse or abuse of the vehicle: This includes using the vehicle in a way that the manufacturer didn't intend, like going off-road in a car that isn't designed for that activity, racing, or overloading the vehicle beyond the recommended amount. What Should You Do If Your Claim Is Denied? A claim denial is not the end of the road. Once you've received an official claim denial, you should ask for a copy of the decision in writing, CarTalk reports. Once you know the reason for the claim denial, you might be able to dispute it by providing supporting documentation such as receipts and repair records, Lawyers states. In the case of Zane, viewers suggest contacting Toyota of America . 'Contact Toyota of America, they hate it when you do that,' one shared. 'I did and they gave the same run around,' Zane replied. More viewers suggested taking this denied claim to the attorney general and filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) . 'Then go to the attorney general in your state. Also make sure you did nothing to void the warranty,' one commenter suggested. 'File a complaint with the BBB,' another added.
