‘Andhra Pradesh set to lead South Asia in data revolution': Nara Lokesh
Speaking at the Investopia Global – Andhra Pradesh Summit, organised by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board at a private hotel in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Lokesh outlined the State's ambitious plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies for economic advancement and improved public services.
Addressing a session on AI and data centers, he announced that South Asia's first 152-bit quantum computer will be unveiled in Amaravati in January 2026, a development expected to transform the region's technological ecosystem.
He highlighted Visakhapatnam's emergence as a data city, with several global companies expressing interest in establishing data centers in the coastal hub. 'Andhra Pradesh is at the forefront of embracing the data revolution, and we are ready to seize the opportunities it brings,' Lokesh asserted.
The IT Minister emphasised the need to modernise education to align with global technological advancements. The State is introducing AI and quantum computing courses in polytechnic, degree, and engineering curricula to equip students with cutting-edge skills.
'Transitioning from traditional education to advanced technologies like AI is challenging, but we are making transformative changes to our curriculum to meet global standards. These reforms aim to prepare Andhra Pradesh's youth for the demands of a digital economy,' the HRD Minister explained.
Lokesh underscored the government's commitment to using AI to enhance public services. Drawing from his observations during public outreach programmes, he noted the difficulties citizens faced in accessing basic land records. To address this, the State government has launched 'Mana Mitra', a WhatsApp-based governance platform that delivers 600 types of citizen services efficiently.

Singapore tour a grand success: Lokesh
Vijayawada: Minister for IT and Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh on Thursday said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's five-day tour of Singapore, aimed at attracting investments, was a 'grand success'. He revealed that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 45,000 crore were signed with the Government of Singapore and the Singapore Investment Corporation, committing to investments in Andhra Pradesh over the next five years. He criticised the previous YSRCP government for unilaterally cancelling MoUs with Singapore, citing unsubstantiated corruption charges. Lokesh detailed the extensive engagements of the Chief Minister's team in Singapore, which included 26 face-to-face interviews and 19 meetings with industrialists. The delegation also undertook visits to key facilities such as Tuas Port, Jurong Petrochemicals, and companies in the IT, electronics, green energy, sports, and real estate sectors. The minister further announced that the mega Greenfield steel plant being established by AM/NS India, a joint venture between Lakshmi Mittal 's ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel of Japan in Andhra Pradesh, would commence production by 2029. Defending the decision to allot land to software giant TCS at 99 paise per acre, he asserted that this move was strategic to put Visakhapatnam on the global IT map. Consequently, Cognizant has also come forward to establish an office in Visakhapatnam. Lokesh reiterated the state government's commitment to allotting land to companies primarily to generate employment for the youth. He confirmed that TCS operations in Visakhapatnam will begin in September, followed by Cognizant starting operations in October.

Naidu to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava' on Aug 2; Over 46 lakh farmers to benefit
Vijayawada: The state government is making all arrangements to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava', a scheme aimed at providing cash incentives to farmers, on August 2, alongside the PM-Kisan scheme. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the scheme at Veerayapalem village under Darsi mandal of Prakasam district. As many as 46.85 lakh farmers will benefit from the scheme. While the state government is providing Rs 5,000 to each farmer in the first tranche, the Union government will disburse ₹2,000. In total, Annadata Sukhibhava aims to transfer Rs 20,000 to farmers in three instalments, inclusive of PM-Kisan benefits. During a review meeting held on Thursday with senior officials from the finance, revenue, water resources, and agriculture departments, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the financial support directly into their bank accounts. "For the NDA government, supporting farmers is not a burden but a responsibility," Naidu stated. "We are rebuilding every system and working towards financial stability. The good work done should be effectively communicated to the public," he added, suggesting the use of the 'Mana Mitra' app for outreach. The state government has synchronised its disbursement with the Union government's payment to ensure that farmers can immediately use the funds for agricultural purposes. The state will provide Rs 5,000 each in the first and second instalments, and Rs 4,000 in the third, while the Union government will give Rs 2,000 in each phase. In the first phase alone, the Union government is spending Rs 831 crore, while the state is disbursing Rs 2,343 crore. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 59,750 grievances related to the scheme had been registered, of which 58,464 have already been resolved. A toll-free helpline (155251) has been set up to address any doubts or issues related to the scheme. Chief ecretary K Vijayanand, special chief secretary of agriculture B.
