'Every Single Republican': Top Dem Reveals Plan To Use Trump To Beat GOP In 2026
The bill cuts taxes for the wealthy, raises the national debt, and slashes essential services such as Medicaid.
'The one big ugly bill represents the largest cut to Medicaid in American history,' Jeffries said on MSNBC on Tuesday. 'Hospitals will close, nursing homes will shut down, community-based health clinics will be unable to operate, and people are going to die in community after community after community, including in rural America.'
He said Americans don't like the bill ― polls show it's wildly unpopular ― but Republicans 'turned around and bent the knee to Donald Trump ― because that's what they do.'
'It's an embarrassment,' he said. 'And now that embarrassment will actually result in the American people being hurt in devastating ways.'
Jeffries said Democrats will make sure Americans know who's responsible for this bill during next year's midterm elections.
'We are going to tattoo this disgusting abomination of a bill to the foreheads of every single Republican who voted for it,' he said.
The party that wins the White House almost always loses seats during the midterm elections that follow, and already prognosticators are lining up to make similar predictions for next year given the bill's unpopularity.
Fox News host Jessica Tarlov said last week that 'moderate Republicans are ensuring their retirement will come earlier than expected' due to their support for the bill.
Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews said he expects Democrats to pick up between 15 and 20 seats in the House ― more than enough to give the party control.
However, Democrats do face at least one obstacle: themselves.
NPR reports that while Congressional Republicans have an approval rating of just 35%, support for Democrats is even lower at 27%.

No arrests made at anti-Trump demonstrations, police say
No protesters were arrested at demonstrations about US President Donald Trump after he began a visit to Scotland, according to police. A 50-year-old woman was issued with a recorded police warning in connection with alleged threatening behaviour at a Stop Trump Scotland protest outside the US consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday, but no arrests were made, according to Police Scotland. The woman, who was a counter-protester, was arrested in connection with an alleged obstruction of the police and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Police Scotland said two arrests were made in Aberdeen at 'other events' on Saturday, but not at a huge anti-Trump demonstration in the city. A spokesperson said the force 'took action at demonstrations and protest events' but did not make any arrests at Trump rallies across the country. In Aberdeen, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a number of outstanding warrants and will appear in court at a later date, according to Police Scotland. A 56-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal after an alleged assault in Aberdeen city centre. Police Scotland said they could not give further details.

Landlord jailed for decades in hate-crime attack on Palestinian American family has died
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A landlord jailed for decades after he attacked a Palestinian American boy and his mother has died. Three months ago, Joseph Czuba was sentenced to 53 years behind bars for the attack. He was found guilty in February of murder, attempted murder and hate-crime charges in the death of Wadee Alfayoumi and the wounding of the boy's mother, Hanan Shaheen. The 73-year-old Czuba targeted them in October 2023 because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas, which started days earlier. Czuba died Thursday in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Chicago Sun-Times reported, citing the Will County Sheriff's Office. The law enforcement agency did not return a call seeking comment on the death. Ahmed Rehab, the executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations' Chicago office, said in a statement on Saturday that 'this depraved killer has died, but the hate is still alive and well.' Evidence at trial included harrowing testimony from Shaheen and her frantic 911 call, along with bloody crime scene photos and police video. Jurors deliberated less than 90 minutes before handing in a verdict. The family had been renting rooms in Czuba's home in Plainfield, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Chicago when the attack happened. Central to prosecutors' case was harrowing testimony from the boy's mother, who said Czuba attacked her before moving on to her son, insisting they had to leave because they were Muslim. Prosecutors also played the 911 call and showed police footage. Czuba's wife, Mary, whom he has since divorced, also testified for the prosecution, saying he had become agitated about the Israel-Hamas war, which had erupted days earlier.
