'Every Single Republican': Top Dem Reveals Plan To Use Trump To Beat GOP In 2026
The bill cuts taxes for the wealthy, raises the national debt, and slashes essential services such as Medicaid.
'The one big ugly bill represents the largest cut to Medicaid in American history,' Jeffries said on MSNBC on Tuesday. 'Hospitals will close, nursing homes will shut down, community-based health clinics will be unable to operate, and people are going to die in community after community after community, including in rural America.'
He said Americans don't like the bill ― polls show it's wildly unpopular ― but Republicans 'turned around and bent the knee to Donald Trump ― because that's what they do.'
'It's an embarrassment,' he said. 'And now that embarrassment will actually result in the American people being hurt in devastating ways.'
Jeffries said Democrats will make sure Americans know who's responsible for this bill during next year's midterm elections.
'We are going to tattoo this disgusting abomination of a bill to the foreheads of every single Republican who voted for it,' he said.
The party that wins the White House almost always loses seats during the midterm elections that follow, and already prognosticators are lining up to make similar predictions for next year given the bill's unpopularity.
Fox News host Jessica Tarlov said last week that 'moderate Republicans are ensuring their retirement will come earlier than expected' due to their support for the bill.
Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews said he expects Democrats to pick up between 15 and 20 seats in the House ― more than enough to give the party control.
However, Democrats do face at least one obstacle: themselves.
NPR reports that while Congressional Republicans have an approval rating of just 35%, support for Democrats is even lower at 27%.

No arrests made at anti-Trump demonstrations, police say
No protesters were arrested at demonstrations about US President Donald Trump after he began a visit to Scotland, according to police. A 50-year-old woman was issued with a recorded police warning in connection with alleged threatening behaviour at a Stop Trump Scotland protest outside the US consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday, but no arrests were made, according to Police Scotland. In Glasgow, a woman aged 49 was arrested at a 'mass deportation rally' led by Ukip's Nick Tenconi, which was met by a counter-protest in George Square. The woman, who was a counter-protester, was arrested in connection with an alleged obstruction of the police and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Police Scotland said two arrests were made in Aberdeen at 'other events' on Saturday, but not at a huge anti-Trump demonstration in the city. A spokesperson said the force 'took action at demonstrations and protest events' but did not make any arrests at Trump rallies across the country. In Aberdeen, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a number of outstanding warrants and will appear in court at a later date, according to Police Scotland. A 56-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal after an alleged assault in Aberdeen city centre. Police Scotland said they could not give further details.

Landlord jailed for decades in hate-crime attack on Palestinian American family has died
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A landlord jailed for decades after he attacked a Palestinian American boy and his mother has died. Three months ago, Joseph Czuba was sentenced to 53 years behind bars for the attack. He was found guilty in February of murder, attempted murder and hate-crime charges in the death of Wadee Alfayoumi and the wounding of the boy's mother, Hanan Shaheen. The 73-year-old Czuba targeted them in October 2023 because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas, which started days earlier. Czuba died Thursday in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Chicago Sun-Times reported, citing the Will County Sheriff's Office. The law enforcement agency did not return a call seeking comment on the death. Ahmed Rehab, the executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations' Chicago office, said in a statement on Saturday that 'this depraved killer has died, but the hate is still alive and well.' Evidence at trial included harrowing testimony from Shaheen and her frantic 911 call, along with bloody crime scene photos and police video. Jurors deliberated less than 90 minutes before handing in a verdict. The family had been renting rooms in Czuba's home in Plainfield, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Chicago when the attack happened. Central to prosecutors' case was harrowing testimony from the boy's mother, who said Czuba attacked her before moving on to her son, insisting they had to leave because they were Muslim. Prosecutors also played the 911 call and showed police footage. Czuba's wife, Mary, whom he has since divorced, also testified for the prosecution, saying he had become agitated about the Israel-Hamas war, which had erupted days earlier. Police said Czuba pulled a knife from a holder on a belt and stabbed the boy 26 times, leaving the knife in the child's body. Some of the bloody crime scene photos were so explicit that the judge agreed to turn television screens showing them away from the audience, which included Wadee's relatives. The attack renewed fears of anti-Muslim discrimination and hit particularly hard in Plainfield and surrounding suburbs, which have a large and established Palestinian community. Wadee's funeral drew large crowds, and Plainfield officials have dedicated a park playground in his honor.

Biden's top aides lived in ‘fog of denial' over president's cognitive decline: insider
As lawmakers continue their investigation into what former President Joe Biden's inner circle knew about his alleged cognitive decline, one insider who's written about the issue says he continues to be stunned by the 'fog of denial' that surrounded the aging president. 'They [just] convinced themselves, in effect, they believed what they wanted to believe instead of their lying eyes, even during the debate when everything went south,' said Chris Whipple, author of the book 'Uncharted,' which chronicled the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election. Advertisement Whipple interviewed several members of Biden's inner circle in the aftermath of his widely criticized debate performance, which ultimately led to the suspension of his re-election campaign. Former chief of staff Ron Klain, who reportedly told House lawmakers this week that Biden had grown 'more forgetful' in office, was among sources who opened up for Whipple's book. 'Despite that devastating debate, which was lights out, game over, everybody knew it, Klain was still all in on Joe Biden's nomination and re-election and somehow thought he could beat Trump,' Whipple told 'America's Newsroom' Friday. 'He's been in the doghouse with Joe Biden and his inner circle ever since he was devastatingly candid to me about Joe Biden's condition in that pre-debate prep at Camp David.' Advertisement Author Chris Whipple said he was stunned by the denial he saw after interviewing former President Biden's top aides about his alleged cognitive decline. AP House Republicans have launched a probe into the former president's cognitive health and have called on former Biden administration officials to testify about what they witnessed. Most of those called have pleaded the Fifth and refused to answer lawmakers' questions, including the former president's physician. But based on his conversations, Whipple does not believe there was a secretive scheme to control the presidency. Getty Images 'The notion that this was somehow, you know, Biden's last year was 'Weekend at Bernie's' and that there he was non compos mentis and there was a cabal running the country with an autopen is just silly,' he said. 'The notion that they're [Republicans are] going to be able to prove that there was this dastardly cover-up on the part of Biden's inner circle is just crazy to me. I think the answer is that this thing goes nowhere.'
