Kaleshwaram project row: If found guilty, no one will be spared, warns Revenue Min Ponguleti

MULUGU: Dismissing the claims of political vendetta behind the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the execution of the Kaleshwaram project, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Wednesday said that once the PC Ghose Commission submits its report, those involved will have to 'face the consequences for their misdeeds.'
Speaking to the media in Mulugu, the minister said: 'There is no question of any political revenge in this issue. The Central commission is conducting the inquiry. After the Commission submits its report, the culprits will have to face the consequences. No matter who they are and what their status is, they will not be spared.'
'The previous BRS regime had projected the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme as the eighth wonder of the world. The Kalvakuntla family looted the state while pillars of the project caved in during the BRS regime itself,' he added.
'KCR, the self-declared 'father of Telangana', deposed before the PC Ghose Commission. None of the people who were involved in this scam will be excluded from this inquiry,' he further said.
Stating that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy protected the Kaleshwaram project by taking up temporary repair works, he said: 'The flaws in the project design, defects in its execution and damage caused to its various components will be revealed once the Commission of Inquiry submits its report. Then the courts will deal with it as per law.'
'The Congress government will neither spare those responsible for Kaleshwaram scam nor those involved in phone-tapping, land-grabbing, and Mission Bhagiratha scams,' he added.
Earlier, Srinivas Reddy, along with Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka and MP P Balaram Naik, distributed sanction letters for Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries at Incherla village in Mulugu district. They also laid the foundation stone for the construction of houses in the Indiramma Colony of the village.
Stating that the government had sanctioned 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses in the first phase across the state, he said that the highest allocation of 5,000 houses was made in the Mulugu Assembly constituency.
Later in the day, Srinivasa Reddy and Seethakka took part in the Bhu Bharathi Revenue Sadassulu programme at Govindaraopet village and interacted with the applicants.

BRS trying to wriggle out of Bankacherla project fiasco with utter lies: Congress MP Chamala Kiran

Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy credited the Congress government for the Central Environmental Expert Committee's decision to halt further clearances for the contentious Polavaram–Banakacherla Link Project, despite the BRS government allowing full rights to the Andhra Pradesh government on Godavari waters. 'It was only after our government's serious intervention and strong objections at the Central level that the committee decided to put the project on hold,' he said at a press conference here on Wednesday. The Congress MP said the decision was the result of persistent efforts by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to protect the State's water interests. He criticised BRS MLA Harish Rao, saying that the BRS was trying to wriggle out of its predicament of offering Godavari waters to the then A.P. government after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy exposed the BRS's lies. Mr. KCR's statements and the BRS failures were exposed with evidence, and people were convinced how the BRS government mortgaged the State's interests. Mr. Harish Rao is trying to rake up the Telangana sentiment, linking Chandrababu Naidu, forgetting that it was the BRS government that had actually offered Godavari waters to the Jaganmohan Reddy government.

Formula E race case: ACB again summons IAS officer Arvind Kumar

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has once again summoned senior IAS officer and Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar for questioning in Formula E race case. The agency, which is probing the allegations of unauthorised misuse of government funds, has directed him to appear on Thursday. Arvind Kumar was served notice two days after he returned from a month-long leave. He was summoned a few days after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister K. T. Rama Rao were questioned by the ACB for the second time. This is the second time Arvind Kumar will face questioning by the ACB in this case. He had earlier appeared before the anti-graft agency in January. He had reportedly informed investigating officials that he transferred funds based on instructions from higher authorities. The ACB on June 16 questioned K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) for nearly eight hours. The former minister had appeared before the ACB on January 9 in the case relating to the conduct of the Formula E race in Hyderabad in January 2023, when BRS was in power. The ACB in December last year booked a case against KTR, former Special Chief Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department, Arvind Kumar and former Chief Engineer of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) B.L.N. Reddy for alleged Rs 54.88 crore irregularities in the Formula-E deal. The FIR was registered on a complaint by the Principal Secretary to the Government, MA&UD department, M. Dana Kishore, who stated that foreign remittances were made without prior approvals of the relevant regulatory authorities, which resulted in an additional tax burden to HMDA to the tune of Rs. 8.06 crore. The complainant also alleged that the payment was made while the Model Code of Conduct was in effect for the elections to the State Legislative Assembly without any prior approval of the Election Commission of India. The FIR was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act as well as under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). After appearing before ACB for the second time on June 16, KTR stated that he was not scared of arrest. He said the ACB officials kept repeating a question and asked them to show him corruption in the case. Claiming that the Formula-E race boosted the image of Telangana, he alleged that the actions of the Revanth Reddy government were maligning the state.
