Collector urges women to utilise training in tailoring
Interacting with women undergoing basic tailoring training, the Collector encouraged all participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to achieve sustainable livelihoods. She stated that, under the Women Empowerment initiative, basic tailoring training is being provided to women belonging to the BC, EBC, Kamma, Reddy, Arya Vysya, Brahmin, Kshatriya, and Kapu (Balija) communities.
The Collector further announced that, upon completion of the training, each of the 500 beneficiaries per Assembly constituency would receive a tailor-model sewing machine. The state government has set a target to train 3,441 women in the district.
Providing statistics, the Collector noted that applications have been received from 11,105 BC women, 96 from the Kamma community, 691 Reddy, 871 Kapu (Balija), 344 EBC, 308 Arya Vysya, 34 Brahmin, and 1 Kshatriya applicant seeking to participate in the program. So far, 25 tailoring training centers have been established across the district, with a total of 2,827 women attending classes.
These include 2,381 BC women, 5 Kamma, 104 Reddy, 150 Kapu (Balija), 122 EBC, 58 Arya Vysya, 6 Brahmin, and 1 Kshatriya participant.
The Collector advised all trainees to strive for self-reliance and improve their standard of living through self-employment after successfully completing the training.

HYDERABAD: The road widening works for the proposed Metro rail corridor between MGBS and Chandrayangutta have gained momentum. Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. managing director NVS Reddy stated that the alignment has been carefully designed to be optimal while minimising the number of affected properties. He mentioned that daily review meetings are being conducted with engineering and revenue officials to monitor progress. 'Initially, we have estimated that around 1,100 properties would be impacted. However, through engineering redesign and realignment, we have brought that number down to about 900,' he explained. Compensation amount totalling Rs 360 crore has already been disbursed to the affected property owners. Reddy said that they had faced many challenges during the land acquisition and demolition process. 'In this dense urban area, houses are closely packed, and many overhead electricity cables and utility lines pose additional complexity. We are proceeding cautiously to avoid disruptions and are carrying out works mainly at night to minimise inconvenience to the public,' he added. A detailed action plan has been prepared to acquire the remaining properties and complete demolitions quickly.

Temporary Bench Mark (TBM) locations have been fixed on the ground to aid in survey work during the construction phase. In the areas where metro stations and pillars will be located, arrangements are being made to shift underground sewerage, water pipelines, stormwater drains, and overhead electricity lines. As per the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, all overhead electric lines will be converted to underground cabling. Reddy informed that departments like the Water Board, GHMC, and TSSPDCL have been asked to submit their estimates in the coming days. Metro officials, along with field staff from respective departments, are working round-the-clock to identify and safeguard key utilities, ensuring seamless coordination for swift execution of the project.
