Katherine Legge finishes 32nd in NASCAR Mexico City debut even after extreme heat melted her shoe
Katherine Legge's long-awaited NASCAR Cup Series debut in Mexico City went slightly askew when the extreme heat in her cockpit melted the sole of her racing shoe. Legge was running in the top 20 in her first NASCAR race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Sunday when the unusual mishap occurred, forcing her to hit the brakes.
She eventually finished 32nd, five laps behind the race winner.
Extreme heat causes Katherine Legge's unusual pedal box malfunction
During this race, the constant hammering heat in the 2.7-mile road course caused Legge's shoe sole to start melting and adhere to the throttle pedal. Radio transmissions between her and the pit crew showed how serious the problem was, with Legge saying her shoe was 'literally fused to the pedal.'

Her team thought the lack of insulation around the pedal box deformed the rubber sole.
The crew successfully helped her get the foot free at some point during the race, but she lost time and had compromised control of the car as a result.
Katherine Legge's return to the Cup Series and future races
It was Katherine Legge's second start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, the first being in Phoenix earlier this season, where she finished in 30th place. Having had a successful career in open wheel and a more recent venture into sports cars, the 44-year-old has had the backing of e.l.f.,

However, it's still not all doom and gloom with Legge. She noted in a post-race statement that moving into NASCAR had not been easy, and it was 'one of the hardest championships to chase in the world.'
Team owner BJ McLeod said the same thing, noting the massive undertaking of the Gen-7 stock cars.
Looking ahead despite the setback
While Legge was disappointed that she came in the 32nd position, she will continue her Cup Series as per the schedule. This includes races in Chicago, Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and Richmond, which will be tough tracks. Thanks to her resilience and a stout lineup of sponsors, Legge will continue to learn as much as possible from each race and refine her stock-car driving craft.
A random glitch could have spoiled her weekend in Mexico City, but she seems determined to push to the absolute limit. It will be interesting to see how she develops into a contender in NASCAR's road course races as she accumulates more seat time.

H1 car sales see 12% dip; festive rebound expected
1 2 A hmedabad: Car sales in Gujarat continued to face headwinds in the first half of 2025, with registrations dropping 12.2% year-on-year, report Niyati Parikh & Himanshu Kaushik. Between Jan and June, total registrations fell to 161,363 units from 183,866 in H1 2024, reflecting a challenging market for the automobile industry. Dealers attribute the decline to poor consumer sentiment due to the stock market crash in the initial part of the year, followed by the Indo-Pak border tensions and even the geopolitical conflicts. Even as the Rath Yatra muhurat revved up two-wheeler sales, it failed to add momentum to passenger car sales, which remained lukewarm. According to MoRTH data, car sales rose by a modest 8.2% during the month, totalling 23,744 units as against 21,946 units sold in June last year. While the uptick broke the trend of subdued numbers over the past five months, bringing in some momentum, dealers believe that overall sentiment in the car market is down. "Rath Yatra is considered very auspicious for the purchase of vehicles, including two- and four-wheelers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Jena: Nur 700 Plätze. Gutes Hören Undo While sales did increase marginally, the numbers do not reflect the kind of festive optimism that is typically seen during this time of the year. Even on the muhurat day, sales remained flat. This is mainly due to the poor sentiment among consumers and lack of confidence in spending," said Pranav Shah, Chairman of the Federation of Automobile Dealers' Association, Gujarat. "Car sales have been muted as there is a slowdown in the market. Entry-level cars have seen the most impact, as younger buyers are increasingly shifting towards SUVs and mid-segment cars. With economic uncertainty and price sensitivity still high, many buyers are waiting for a clearer picture before making purchase decisions," the officer said. "In rural Gujarat, the agricultural economy was not performing as expected due to underwhelming summer and winter crop yields, which also affected demand for four-wheelers, especially in smaller towns and talukas," he further added. Two-wheeler registrations jumped 18.6% year-on-year to 100,615 units, up from 84,803 in June 2024, according to data from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Still, the June boost lifted dealer sentiment, especially after a sluggish start to the year. However, the overall figures for the first half of 2025 continue to reflect a challenging market. Between January and June, car registrations in Gujarat dropped 12.2%, falling to 161,363 units from 183,866 in H1 2024. Two-wheelers, on the other hand, continued to maintain momentum. Registrations rose 3.4% to 568,421 units in H1 2025, compared to 549,805 in the same period last year. "Retail sentiment is gradually improving. With a good monsoon, stable fuel prices, and positive signals from the broader economy, we expect traction to pick up during Navratri and Diwali," Shah added. Tractor sales remained muted, but most other segments are showing early signs of revival. Dealers across Gujarat are now gearing up for the festive stretch, hoping it brings the auto market firmly back into gear.

Fulton's men look to bounce back
Bengaluru: India struggled during the European leg of the FIH Pro League last month, losing seven of their eight matches against top teams such as Argentina, Australia, Belgium, and the Netherlands. For the Indian team, this was a tough reality check, especially as they had aimed to secure a World Cup berth. They narrowly missed the wooden spoon, finishing above bottom-placed Ireland. This experience served as a wake-up call for the team. However, there is hope on the horizon. The Men in Blue are now focusing on the Asia Cup, which begins late next month in Rajgir, Bihar. The competition offers India a chance to qualify for the World Cup scheduled to take place in the Netherlands and Belgium in Aug next year. Preparations are already underway, with a training camp set to begin on Monday. Additionally, a squad of 24 players will be taken to Australia for a two-week camp that will include friendly matches. From them, 20 players (including two standbys) will be selected for the continental competition. We want to remain the No. 1 in Asia, and we know many strong teams will be vying for victory to secure direct qualification. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Wolfsburg: Nur 700 Plätze. Werden Sie Testhörer für die neuen Hörgeräte ohne Zuzahlung. Gutes Hören Undo We must respect all our opponents, but we are focused on improving from our performance in the Pro League and returning to winning form," said India's head coach Craig Fulton during a virtual interaction on Tuesday. India, currently ranked No. 8 in the world, is the highest-ranked team in Asia and will enter the tournament as favourites. However, challengers like Pakistan (WR 15), Malaysia (12), and South Korea (13) could give the home team a tough competition. The Indian team must utilise the next seven weeks to address their weaknesses and bring their best performance to Rajgir. One major concern has been the performance of the backline, as they conceded 26 goals in eight matches last month. They allowed some soft goals that frustrated Fulton, who emphasises a solid defensive strategy. Also, teams frequently scored late, contributing to India's losses. India also felt the absence of their captain, Harmanpreet Singh , who missed several matches due to a finger injury. "He got hit with the ball on his finger, which opened it up. Losing your captain during critical moments is always challenging, and someone else needs to step up to fill that void. It was a tough period for us, but we are fully focused on the Asia Cup now and have learned some hard lessons," Fulton remarked.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, he said that if Jake Paul wants to fight him for the cruiserweight world title, he's open to the idea. But he warned that Jake Paul has no chance of beating him.
