Nets land another first-round pick for taking on Terance Mann contract in three-team blockbuster
And Brooklyn got to work Tuesday, opportunistically landing a first-round pick for taking on Terance Mann.
In a three-team trade, the Nets received Atlanta's 22nd overall pick in return for taking on Mann, a 28-year-old wing who was born in Brooklyn.

Boston received Georges Niang and a second-round pick, but offloaded Kristaps Porzingis and a second-rounder to the Hawks.
'I was born in Brooklyn hospital,' Mann posted on X. 'This is crazyyyy.'
The deal was first reported by ESPN and confirmed by The Post.
It can't be finalized until July 6 because the Nets will acquire Mann with cap space, but it gives the Nets five first-rounders and helps in a quest for a second lottery pick.
Mann — who averaged 9.8 points this past for Atlanta on .541 shooting and .386 from behind the arc — still has three years and $47 million left on his contract.
For taking that on, the Nets will get a pick even better than the 28th selection that the Celtics could have offered for taking Porzingis.
It's precisely the sort of opportunistic move that Nets general manager Sean Marks has been looking to make. Now leading the league in both first-round picks (one sixth of Wednesday's entire draft) and cap space (still roughly $35 million), the Nets are positioned to control the offseason.

The Nets have the eighth, 19th, 22nd, 26th, 27th and 36th picks, and can move up by packaging picks and/or taking more salary dumps.
'What does that get you? Does that get you into the teens again? Or can you pick up a future down the road that you can use, similar to the OKC model? I do think when you have cap space, it certainly helps as far as maneuverability,' ESPN Insider Bobby Marks told The Post.

While the possibility of Ace Bailey falling to the Nets is fascinating, likelier targets include Oklahoma point guard Jeremiah Fears, Duke center Khaman Maluach and forward Noa Essengue from Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany.
Texas scoring guard Tre Johnson or Illinois point guard Kasparas Jakucionis could be options.
Brooklyn is believed to be looking to package lower picks to get a second lottery selection.
Tuesday's trade only makes that easier.

When James Harden joined the Brooklyn Nets in January 2021, a Hall of Fame-caliber lineup formed on paper, featuring Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Steve Nash as head coach — and it looked terrifying. Three superstars came together to form a big three, with one of the greatest basketball minds in history leading them from the bench. Though he had no head coaching experience, Nash was part of the Golden State Warriors' staff during their championship runs. Kyrie didn't think Nash was the right fit for the Nets On paper, Nash seemed like a perfect fit for this group. He came up under Steve Kerr, his basketball IQ was unquestionable, and he was once a superstar himself — he understood how superstars operate. However, the project quickly fell apart, and from the start, it felt like it may have been too much for the former two-time MVP to handle in his first coaching job. "I already had my own thoughts on how the coaching situation was gonna go. And while Irving is now choosing his words more carefully and not directly calling Nash out, it was clear there was never real chemistry in their relationship. An anonymous scout told the New York Post that during the one game where the Nets lost to the Indiana Pacers, he watched Irving ignore Nash's play calls and do something else instead, numerous times. "I couldn't believe what I was seeing," the scout said. "Nash would call something, and he'd run the opposite. I've never seen anything like that." What are the reasons for the Nets to pay Cam Thomas what he wants?
Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been getting his first taste of NBA free-agency and based on all of the reports, the experience isn't going well for him. Given that Thomas is a restricted free-agent, Brooklyn has the leverage when it comes to signing him, but there appears to be disagreements over how much Thomas should be paid this summer. Brian Lewis of the New York Post recently reported that the Nets and Thomas are at a standstill within their contract negotiations and it seems that the issue could come down to how much money Brooklyn pays Thomas per season. Lewis made a point to note that Thomas views himself in the same tier with players like Toronto Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley and Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro, two players that are making around $30 million per year. The question at this point of the offseason is whether or not the Nets should pay Thomas what he's asking for, especially at a point in the summer where no other team can currently offer him anything close to what he's asking for. NBA insider Jake Fischer reported recently on a Bleacher Report livestream that Brooklyn has offered Thomas as many as two years on a new contract for the Mid-Level Non-Taxpayer exception or $14.1 million per season. Assuming that the Nets indeed proposed that deal to Thomas, it seems that the reason he remains unsigned is because he either wants more years, more money, or both. During the 2024-25 season, there were a few reports projecting Thomas to get somewhere between $20 million per year and $30 million per year due to how well he played when he was available and what the market could have dictated for him. The Nets and the Utah Jazz are the only teams with cap space, otherwise known as positive cap space for the purpose of this article, but there are plenty of other teams with access to the NTMLE. With Brooklyn able to match any offer sheet that Thomas gets from other teams, it seems that the former LSU Tiger is most likely playing next season with the Nets, but time will tell if it will be on a new contract or on the $5.99 million qualifying offer.

Indiana Fever update Caitlin Clark injury status, availability vs New York Liberty
With the 2025 WNBA All-Star break concluded, the Indiana Fever provided an injury status update to star Caitlin Clark ahead of their Tuesday night game against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Clark, who suffered a right groin injury late in the Fever's July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun, missed Indiana's blowout loss against the Liberty last Wednesday and opted out of All-Star weekend to focus on her recovery. According to coach Stephanie White, the Fever do not anticipate Clark being available when they take the floor in Brooklyn on Tuesday. "I haven't seen C (Clark) since the game last night, but I think she's progressing. I think that we're continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests done early in the week. "I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluation early this week. Once we've done that, hopefully we'll have more of a clear mind of what it looks like," White said of Clark's status. With Clark most likely unavailable for Indiana, the team will need to rely heavily on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to bear the load on offense and get contributions off the bench.
