Auburn's receive high preseason praise from Athlon Sports

USA Today26-06-2025
The Auburn wide receivers room, led by Cam Coleman, is a highly ranked group.
It is preseason magazine season with the likes of Athlon Sports, Lindy's, Phil Steele, and others releasing their preseason outlooks. One of the earlier annuals to be released is the Athlon Sports edition.
When it pertains to Auburn, Athlon Sports is very high on the Auburn wide receiver room. They have the group ranked second in the SEC behind Alabama. Nationally, the Tigers are ranked fourth behind Ohio State, Clemson, and Alabama.
Many football fans and experts have high expectations for sophomore wide receiver Cam Coleman. He was second behind KeAndre Lambert-Smith last season with 37 receptions and 598 yards. He tied Lambert-Smith with eight touchdowns. Coleman looked missing during the early parts of the season but found success towards the end. In the final three games versus Louisiana Monroe, Texas A&M, and Alabama, he had 22 catches for 306 yards and five touchdowns. In the first nine games of the season, Coleman caught just 15 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
The Tigers did land one of the best players in the transfer portal with the addition of former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton. In some mock drafts, Singleton has been projected as a first-round draft pick. In two seasons for the Yellow Jackets, he caught 104 passes for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. Auburn also added another ACC receiver with Wake Forest transfer Horatio Fields. Last season, he caught 39 passes for 463 yards and four touchdowns.
Also returning for 2025 is Malcolm Simmons, who was the third-best receiver on the team last season. Simmons caught 40 passes for 451 yards and three touchdowns. Auburn also used Simmons in the rushing attack. Perry Thompson and Bryce Cain are talented receivers who help make this one of the most skilled groups of wide receivers Auburn has seen in a while. Coleman was also mentioned on Athlon Sports All-America Third Team, but the sophomore will look to have a bigger season than that. He was listed in the magazine's All-SEC First Team.

Georgia football continues recruiting surge with 4-star DL addition

The post Georgia football continues recruiting surge with 4-star DL addition appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Georgia football team is one of the hottest programs in the country right now on the recruiting trail, and it had quite a day on Monday. The Bulldogs picked up three commitments in total, with two coming from the 2026 class, and one coming from the 2027 class. The first 2026 prospect to commit to Georgia was four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean. Then later in the day, another four-star DL decided to play for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs as Preston Carey announced his commitment. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Four-Star DL Preston Carey has Committed to Georgia, he tells me for @Rivals,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'5 300 DL chose the Bulldogs over Florida, Auburn, & Rutgers.' Florida, Auburn and Rutgers were all recruiting Preston Carey hard, but they were no match for Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team. The Bulldogs are on another level on the recruiting trail right now. After announcing his commitment to Georgia, Carey had a short message to share: 'To be the best in the country, you have to play with the best in the country,' he said. Carey is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He is the #309 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the #36 DL and the #48 player in the state of Florida. Carey currently attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The in-state Gators recruited him hard, but Carey chose rival Georgia. Advertisement The 2026 Georgia football recruiting class is shaping up to be another special one. After this commitment from Preston Carey, the Bulldogs have the #2 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports. Georgia now has commitments from one five-star, 18 four-stars and six three-stars. Kirby Smart has always been good at bringing top talent to Athens, and he is outstanding at turning those players into NFL draft picks. The Bulldogs are poised for long-term success in this new era of college football. Alabama football's ridiculous recruiting run continues with 5-star WR

The post Alabama football's ridiculous recruiting run continues with 5-star WR appeared first on ClutchPoints. There are a few programs that are hot on the recruiting trail right now, but no one is doing a better job than the Alabama football team. The Crimson Tide are scorching hot, and they added yet another five-star on Wednesday. Elite 2026 wide receiver Cederian Morgan just announced his decision, and he is going to play for head coach Kalen DeBoer and Alabama. Florida, Georgia and Colorado were other top options for Morgan, but the Crimson Tide got the job done. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Five-Star WR Cederian Morgan has Committed to Alabama, he tells me for @rivals,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The No. 2 WR in the '26 Class chose the Crimson Tide over Florida, Georgia, & Colorado.' The Alabama native is feeling good after his decision to play for the Crimson Tide: 'Bama made, Bama raised, Bama stayed!!!! RTR,' he said. Cederian Morgan is a five-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #11 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the #2 WR and the #1 player in the state of Alabama. Morgan currently attends Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, AL. He is staying home. Advertisement 'Evaluation echoes that of a luxury sports car: big, smooth, and powerful,' Morgan's scouting report reads. 'Plays with obvious horsepower, accompanied by some encouraging physical refinement and nuance in regards to fluidity and locomotion. Dominant in contested scenarios as a consistent high pointer who exploits significant physical advantages vs. smaller defenders. Owns an enormous catch radius that gives a QB a large target throughout the route tree. Immensely productive with huge receiving numbers and even some limited defensive reps.' Alabama is getting a player that is good enough to quickly make a major impact on the program, and one with pro potential as well. 'Excellent multi-sport profile that includes averaging a double-double in hoops, an Alabama 6A high jump silver medal (6-8), and a 21.74 200-meter rep,' the scouting report adds. 'Size and track speed suggests that another top-end gear in pads exists, and therefore consistent downfield separation ability. Shows encouraging short-to-intermediate route snap and leveraging ability, especially considering size. Uniquely gifted pass-catching target with outstanding physical tools and athletic chops. Projects as a high-major impact player with traits that suggest long-term NFL Draft high-round potential.' The Alabama football team got off to a slow start recruiting the 2026 class, but the Crimson Tide now have one of the best classes in the country. Alabama has landed three five-stars recruits, eight four-stars and six three-stars. The class is currently ranked #6 in the country, according to 247Sports. When the 2026 cycle is all wrapped up, the Crimson Tide might finish with a top-five class.
