On Saturday, England found themselves on the receiving end of a relentless Indian batting display in the second innings at Edgbaston, which led
Harry Brook
to resort to mind games in an effort to disrupt

's rhythm during his quickfire half-century.
Rishabh Pant was bringing the chaos at Edgbaston, and between deliveries, Brook tried to provoke Pant with a pointed question. 'What's your fastest hundred?' he asked, hoping to plant a seed of recklessness in Pant's mind.

Pant answered calmly, 'In Test cricket, maybe 80–90 minutes,' referencing the steady pace of his previous centuries.
Not content to leave it there, Brook cheekily brought up his own record-breaking knock in the IPL.
'The fastest hundred I've hit was in 55 balls—you could do that today,' he teased, attempting to prod Pant into playing rash shots.
Pant, however, remained unfazed and refused to take the bait. 'It's okay. I'm not too greedy for records. If it happens, it happens,' he replied with a composed smile, shutting down the sledging with quiet confidence.
After scoring 25 in the first innings, Pant delivered an entertaining, counter-attacking and crucial 65 in 58 balls, with eight fours and three sixes.
Now in 28 SENA Tests, Pant has scored 2,023 runs at an average of 41.28, with six centuries and six fifties in 52 innings and a best score of 159*.

Pant made a stroke-filled 65 off 58 balls with eight fours and three sixes and put on 110 runs for the fourth wicket with Gill.
Gill followed up his splendid 269 in the first innings with another massive knock of 161, which came off 162 balls with 13 fours and eight sixes.
Jadeja made 69 not out (118 balls, five fours and one six) while adding another 175 runs in a brisk partnership for the fifth wicket with the Indian skipper.
India, who resumed the fourth day's play at 64 for one, had lost KL Rahul (55) and Karun Nair (26) in the first session.

Sakshi, Jaismine, Nupur clinch gold as India bags 11 medals at World Boxing Cup

Astana: Women boxers led India's march to glory as three of them — Sakshi (54kg), Jaismine (57kg) and Nupur (80+kg) — registered contrasting victories to bag gold medals as the Indian contingent clinched its best ever medal haul at the World Boxing Cup – Astana, Kazakhstan 2025 here on Sunday. Sakshi was at her attacking best against USA's Yosline Perez to get a unanimous verdict from the judges in the women's 54kg final while Jaismine kept her cool under pressure to get the better of Jucielen Cequeira Romeu of Brazil 4:1 in the women's 57kg weight category. Nupur then overcame the challenge of Kazakhstan boxer Yeldana Talipova to earn a 5:0 verdict in the 80+kg final. The Indian contingent finished with 11 medals, including three gold, five silver and three bronze medals. India had bagged six medals in the first leg in Brazil, including a gold and a silver. In the first session of the final day on Sunday, it was Sakshi who managed to stand atop of the podium with a stellar display that combined speed and combination punches and open India's gold medal account. In the evening session, Jaismine had to use her long reach to keep her Brazilian opponent at bay in the third and final round after there was not much to separate the two after the first two rounds. The tall 23-year-old stayed away from her opponent in the final round and landed punches on the counter attack to get the judges' nod. Nupur also struggled at the start against Talipova as the home boxer took the opening round. But the Indian boxer completely dominated the next two rounds, landing punches at will and out-thinking her opponent to have the last laugh. Earlier, Meenakshi pushed hard for victory against local favourite Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48kg final but ended on the wrong side of a 3:2 verdict. Jugnoo (men's 85kg), Pooja Rani (women's 80kg), Hitesh Gulia (men's 70kg) and Abhinash Jamwal (men's 65kg) will also return home with silver medals after losing their respective finals. Jugnoo lost 0:5 against Bekzad Nurdauletov of Kazakhstan while Pooja went down by an identical score line against Australia's Eseta Flint. In the evening session, Hitesh lost 0:5 against Brazil's Kaian Oliveira while Jamwal went down 2:3 against Yuri Falcao. Sanju (women's 60kg), Nikhil Dubey (men's 75kg) and Narender (men's 90+ kg) will return home with a bronze medal each.

ENG vs IND: Gus Atkinson added to England squad for Lord's Test against India

Pacer Gus Atkinson was added to the England squad ahead of its third Test match against India set to be held at Lord's in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The announcement came on Sunday, moments after India's massive 336-run win over the host in the second Test at Edgbaston to level the series 1-1. Atkinson was ruled out of the first two Tests of the series due to a hamstring injury picked up during England's one-off Test against Zimbabwe in May. The Surrey and England bowler has impressed in his 12 Tests thus far, taking 55 wickets at an average of 22.30. Atkinson also holds an impressive record at Lord's. He has taken 10 wickets in the two Tests he has played there at an impressive average of just 10.22. In his last outing at the ground against Sri Lanka, he took seven wickets (including a second innings five-for) and scored his maiden first-class century. Atkinson's arrival is a much-need boost to England's pace bowling stocks after a bruising outing at Edgbaston. Aside from the trio of Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, and Brydon Carse that played in Birmingham, England have Jofra Archer, Sam Cook, and Jamie Overton in reserve.
