‘Rare soul': Stabbing victim laid to rest
Luke Manassa, 21, died from injuries sustained during the alleged stabbing attack in Pemulway, as he and his girlfriend pulled into a home along Driftway Dr.
Police allege two people wearing disguises and dark clothing attacked Mr Manassa, before he was able to get back into his car and drive a short distance.
Mr Manassa's funeral will be held at Our Lady of Lebanon Co-Cathedral in Harris Park from 11am. A funeral program for the service carries a message from the Gospel of John, reading: 'Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live.'
Tributes have flowed for the 21-year-old in the wake of his death, with the Australian Blouza Association – a non-political organisation founded in 1949 by immigrants from the village of Blouza, in North Lebanon – announcing news of his passing with 'great sadness'.
On the group's Facebook page, Charlie Baissari wrote: 'Our hearts are deeply broken to hear about the passing of your beloved Angel Luke. It was clear he was a kind, respectful, and beautiful soul — the kind of young man who left a light wherever he went.'
'No words can truly ease the pain of such a tragic loss, but please know our thoughts, prayers, and love are with you all during this heartbreaking time. We are so sorry. With our deepest sympathy, may he rest in eternal peace,' Mr Baissari continued.
Mr Manassa's cousin Tash Mansour wrote: 'I'm lost for words. My heart goes to the rest of your siblings Anthony, Danielle, Patrick Grace and Matthew, and your parents Jamie and Theresa.' His brother David, in his own social media post, remembered Luke as a 'rare soul—overflowing with kindness, love, wisdom, talent, faith, and intelligence far beyond his years'.
'Luke left behind a legacy of love and light that will never fade. I'll forever hold the memories I have with him close,' he said.
'And while nothing can ease the pain right now, I stand firm in one hope: that we will be reunited again, in the presence of our loving God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with Mr Manassa's murder.
Detective Superintendent Joseph Doueihi last week said investigators had not determined a clear motive for why the 21-year-old was targeted.
'It perhaps (was) the wrong target … more than likely, this is a case of mistaken identity, but it's still early days before we can absolutely confirm that,' he said.
Mr Manassa did not live at the Pemulwuy home but was known to visit the property.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he graduated from UTS last year and worked full-time as a project manager at his family's demolition business Mann Group.

Lopar, Croatia: Toddler dies after ‘falling from father's arms' off waterslide at Aquagan water park
A toddler has died after falling from her father's arms while going down a waterslide. The 21-month-old girl was on holiday with her family when tragedy struck at Aquagan water park in Lopar, a part of Rab Island in Croatia on Tuesday. Her father was taking her down a slide when she plunged more than three metres and hit the concrete ground, 24Sata reported. The hospital released a statement which read 'despite prompt care, multiple interventions and intensive treatment, the child died in the morning hours'. Iva Bilic Cace, the head of paediatrics at the hospital, said the child had suffered multiple injuries, including 'serious injuries to the head, brain, chest and abdominal cavity'. 'Despite all intensive care measures, including multiple emergency interventions, she died during the morning hours. We sincerely sympathise with the family at this difficult time,' she said. Zdenko Jakuc, Lopar's Mayor, said it was 'an understatement to say that we are all extremely shaken'. 'When the helicopter landed, everything stopped. We all looked at the sky and hoped for the best,' he said. The owner of Aquagan, Josip Ivanic told Jurtarnji List the incident was a 'tragedy for us, for the family, for everyone' 'The police are now in the park and investigating everything that happened,' he said. 'Something like this has never happened in this park, which I have managed for more than 30 years.' Tributes are flowing for the girl and her family. 'God be with her family. That poor dad will never be the same. None of them will be, but the dad will feel the blame, although just a tragic accident,' one Facebook user wrote. An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the accident. It comes after another toddler died from an infection caused by a brain-eating amoeba he was exposed to at a water park in Arkansas. Michael Alexander Pollock III had a fever for days after he visited the Pulaski County water fountain play area on August 26, 2023. The 16-month-old died on September 4, 2023, after the bacteria he was exposed to caused meningitis.

Sad update in search for man's head
South Australian Police have again suspended their search for the missing head of Julian Story, who was allegedly murdered by his former reality TV star girlfriend Tamika Chesser. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke announced on Thursday that searchers had failed to locate Mr Story's head, more than a month after his body was found at the couple's Port Lincoln unit about midnight on June 17. 'Unfortunately, we have still not been able to locate the missing remains of Julian Story,' he said. Thursday's announcement marks the second suspension of the search for Mr Story's remains. Immediately after the alleged murder, the police scoured a number of parks and reserves around Port Lincoln, Detective Fielke said, and also the foreshore and waterways directly in front of the township. The police said they had located some 'items of interest' from the cemetery, including a T-shirt with Elvis printed on it, a wristband and a purple drink bottle. 'Those items have all been seized and have been put into forensics for further analysis,' Detective Fielke said. 'At this stage, we don't have the results of that testing yet.' But the detective confirmed that 'general searching' for Mr Story's remains had now ended. Mr Story's body was found on the afternoon of June 19 following a small fire at the unit and Ms Chesser was arrested in the yard of the home. At an earlier press conference, Detective Fielke said the cause of death is still being investigated and a motive remains unknown. 'We know they were in a relationship together, and I'm not suggesting that is a motive, but it is something that is being explored,' Detective Superintendent Fielke said in an update from June. 'We don't have the opportunity at this point of time to interview her. 'When we do, we will, and we're hopeful that she will be able to help us with some information.' Detective Fielke added he did not believe anybody in the town was 'holding out' information from the police. Ms Chesser starred in the second series of the hit reality TV show Beauty and the Geek in 2010, finishing in second place. She has also worked as a model for a range of brands including Target and appeared in men's magazines including Ralph and FHM, a profile for her on Star Now states. Her Instagram and Facebook social media profiles are filled with racy and glamorous images.
